So, we’re now one Gameweek into the new season and it couldn’t have gone much better with a schedule packed full of goals – 34 of them in all, to be precise.

That in turn led to some huge Fantasy Premier League (FPL) scores, but as focus now shifts to Gameweek 2, here are some observations from the opening weekend that I found interesting and my transfer/team plans for the weekend.

KINGS OF THE CROSSES

Everton took to the wings against Southampton on Saturday afternoon, sending in crosses from all angles.

Lucas Digne (£5.5m) and Andros Townsend (£5.5m) supplied most of them, with the aim of getting the ball into the box as quickly as possible in an attempt to capitalise on Dominic Calvert-Lewin‘s (£8.0m) power in the air.

Everton’s final-third passes (successful in green) v Southampton

Calvert-Lewin’s total of five shots in the box (including three headers) wasn’t beaten by any other forward in Gameweek 1, which bodes well for his prospects ahead of a kind run of fixtures against Leeds United (a), Brighton and Hove Albion (a), Burnley (h), Aston Villa (a) and Norwich City (h).

I'm thinking only Grealish and Diaz are somewhat highly owned in city so one of my midfielders/defenders need to match their score. Not that worried tbh.

Looks very strong for a Lukaku/ Salah/ Bruno team - also like the DCL choice. Obviously bench is relatively weak and defence is a potential accident waiting to happen but that’s the gamble. I like.

I did Gundo > Benrahma. Didn't make sense to go for Greenwood who would need to be transferred out by GW 4/5 when I'm planning to save some FTs to do a mini WC around then.

Fair enough but I don't mind holding Benrahma for GW5 hard fixture as he looks to be a steal for the long term. Can't say that for Greenwood and too much competition for the front positions at ManU with Martial, Cavani coming back and Pogba possibly at LW.

No. I am in the highly unusual (for me) situation of being satisfied with my first week score, so saving. But I would need 2 transfers to get Mason. He does look a good player to have atm, though.

I wonder why Mr Freeman thinks Leeds have “ongoing set play issues?”
If he watched the last ten games of last season there was clearly a marked improvement.
Besides, none of the goals v Man U came from set plays. In fact one of the positives from the game was Meslier’s confidence in dealing with crosses.

I decided to try casual punt approach and went for Pogba. The logic being that when in form like this he can be streaky asset (remember when OGS came) anf if he does well next week, his price will rocket. Greenwood is going to be game time risk quite soon.

Greenwood over Grealish imo, but this advice worth zilch. I'd like to see Grealish getting returns, MCI had very poor start last season and this doesn't look any different. And even if and when Grealish gets fouled a lot, he is getting "fantasy AA":s from fk:s.

And I personally went for Pogba (against my own advice) to catch possible double rise since I expect to need that .1 pretty soon.

If I had Toney I would take -4 and upgrade him now also. But since 3rd fwd is Perica, I couldn't.

The one thing i would say is above absolutely anything is ... don't chase price rises and get players in just because they're going to go up - if you're genuinely interested in Benrahma then absolutely, go for it - if not, look at all possibly Gundogan replacements, some real gems. I'm not sure Ben is the option IF Jesse goes back to the hammers. I'd maybe sway of Mbeumo just for now as you have Toney, lets get some more Information on him and not just look at one weeks of distorted data (first game in the prem, brentford psyched for the game ect)

It's unfortunate sometimes. Especially when you had him for Norwich game. Willock is one to watch also.

Only before international duties start to dent them. For me he would be medium term option and having triple Whu is something that I consider less optimal, especially for GW4 vs MU.

am I right in thinking that Gundogan is pretty much guaranteed to drop in price before gw2 starts? If I bench gundo I will bring dunk off the bench so I deftly don't need to sell but I don't want to take the price drop either...

Manchester Evening News reporting that things don't look so bad and that he's not yet ruled out for the coming weekend (more tests coming). I don't know if that price drop is going to happen, but he's looking a risky proposition for this weekend even if they say he's good to go.

I was considering to have him for Norwich game, so I would have sold him hoping to be able to save ft next week. Having more money and two ft:s after GW3 isn't bad either, especially for Avl asset owner.

Having all four big hitters at the same time is going to be impossible. Having three is going to be difficult unless we find very good value players and I have doubts about it. Antonio, Wilson, Ings, DCL for example all scored. Vardy may improve and Son isn't cheap either.

Arsenal set to sign Odegaard for €35m according to Ornstein.

ESR maybe plays on the left or they rotate. Glad we’ve signed him cause ESR needs some support, can’t just rely only on him for the season. I was even surprised how soon he was given the number 10 shirt.

Doesn't seem like a luxury attacker who didn't exactly light up the league last season will make a big difference.

Only played for 13/14 games I believe. And since he joined, we were 3rd in the league during the second half of the season. Not that I think Arsenal have any chance of finishing 3rd this season though. Only 22 years old and £29m is a decent fee.

Anywat , think that Buendia is a tad over-hyped. Had plenty of times to prove himself a mint asset when Norwich were doig their Canary chirping in the division before. You could argue he plays for a better team now but from what I've seen that's contentious.
