So, we’re now one Gameweek into the new season and it couldn’t have gone much better with a schedule packed full of goals – 34 of them in all, to be precise.

That in turn led to some huge Fantasy Premier League (FPL) scores, but as focus now shifts to Gameweek 2, here are some observations from the opening weekend that I found interesting and my transfer/team plans for the weekend.

KINGS OF THE CROSSES

Everton took to the wings against Southampton on Saturday afternoon, sending in crosses from all angles.

Lucas Digne (£5.5m) and Andros Townsend (£5.5m) supplied most of them, with the aim of getting the ball into the box as quickly as possible in an attempt to capitalise on Dominic Calvert-Lewin‘s (£8.0m) power in the air.

Everton’s final-third passes (successful in green) v Southampton

Calvert-Lewin’s total of five shots in the box (including three headers) wasn’t beaten by any other forward in Gameweek 1, which bodes well for his prospects ahead of a kind run of fixtures against Leeds United (a), Brighton and Hove Albion (a), Burnley (h), Aston Villa (a) and Norwich City (h).

Do you think that it's worth to give so much money in defence from gw4?
    Digne/TAA/Tsimikas/Coady/Shaw

Mahrez to Son, TAA to VVD and Ings to Jimenez/Wilson for -4. Son will go up to 10.1 by GW3. VVD will almost match TAA this season imo.

    Hey guys,

My current mid is Salah, Bruno, Barnes, Buendia, Brownhill

No major issues, but wondering if having both Barnes and Buendia is a bit week?

Roll the FT or upgrade one of them to Grealish, Benrama, Greenwood?

ESR did do well in same fixture last year (with an assist of sorts for Saka's freak goal) which was the spark for Arsenal to end what was relegation form, and one of only 2 good players v Brentford - would start him ahead of a 2 pt merchant

Gundogan will likely be leaving this week. The obvious transfer into greenwood. However I know I'm going to have to move Tsimikas on next and would probably prefer a 4.5 Def.

Are you planning to WC in next 6 or so GWs. If so, total waste of transfer moving on a 4.0 defender - esp with Coufal to come in. Maybe change to Livramento/ Hoever if not WCing soon - more upside in putting .5 upfront

    Bookies odds:
    Salah to score 1.62
    Bruno to score 2.25
    Salah to brace 4
    Bruno to brace 7

Salah C locked for me. And yes, Bruno has more assist potential, but Salah plays at Anfield. Burnley hasn't been as good defensively as they used to be, but I'm not expecting to see hattie here either.

Whether it's Firmino or Jota starting, I have zero idea. I just fear that Firmino has looked good, has been regular in the team for years and Klopp might give him start in front of home crowd just to boost his confidence.

This, Southampton have a pasting written over them right now. Each of last two seasons, they have had a hammering in the early season and then tightened. They need reinforcements, vestegaard, Bertrand, ings gone. Will take some time. I am leaning towards Bruno captain. United have a swagger right now. I am expecting another 3-5 goals

One could only chuckle at those deciding to leave out Bruno at the beginning of the season but now I feel the time is right to sell and bring in Pogba for him. Pogba's pricewill help strengthen other positions I my squad due to the money saved. This is a move for mavericks only so unlikely many here will have the courage.

Sarr possibly, as others will be rotated. Greenwood would be a great prospect, liked what is saw of benrahma, bit will need to see him play vs. compact defended to see if he can be effective. Staying away from grealish as rotation and a new system are significant headwinds

For those with Bruno and Salah who are also looking to bring in Son next week, I have one question....

Who will you captain in GW4?!

    Salah, Bruno, Benrahma, Buendia, Gundogan**

hold or transfer out Gundogan? unfortunately, my cover is also flagged in Veltman and the other one has a tough fixture against Chelsea

Gundogan on -55% or so on fplstatistics. Wait and see if any info pops up in the next day or two. My guess is he won't play so I'll likely frogmarch him out the door.

With a half a million banked, choosing a Gundogan replacement here I think is a straight shootout between Grealish and Greenwood.

The Saints defence conceded the higher XG at the weekend, United looked filthy and Greenwood looked good but obviously he carries a minutes risk. Grealish, a less known entity in the city side, but a great fixture on paper and will surely start.

    Who's your preference?

Prefer the Saints fixture but really guaranteed goals either way.

Saints probably higher ceiling + even if there are goals both ways, Greenwood I think has a better chance of being involved. City could be anybody, not even sure how Grealish fits in atm, playing as a center midfielder

If you have decent bench cover, it may be worth banking the transfer and trying to shoehorn Son in for next week.

Otherwise I'd prefer Greenwood out of those two.

I'd prefer a roll ofc. Ayling could cover, but I don't think I see a CS there now anyway. Gundo will inevitably drop too.

He'll still play GW2. Robbos only resumed light training. Then no one was starting him in GW3 anyways. So it's all good

    Fun Question:

Who do you wish would MISS OUT this week?

For me it would be Shaw or Tsimikas, (And I own them both).

Have Gundogang at the moment, who to swap? Sarr or Soucek?
Have benrahma and Antonio so could add Soucek for some good pass/finish
Sarr had a good performance last week.
Both would gave me extra £ to transfer in the future.

I am afraid of greenwood not playing or having a bad game, can't afford Pogba since went all in GW1 and have 0 in bank...
Do t think ferrari Torres is worth to put in...

Bruno. I own him but I have 11 outfield players who want to play and his absence would be sweetly disruptive to the community 😉

Salah would be a great alternative.

Or any of these 2 yes (I own too).

I just came out of a BB GW1 and have 15 who play.
So any high ownership disruption would do me more good than harm.

And would be fun to see the community XD
