Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.7m) has been left out of the Manchester United starting XI by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the opening Premier League match of Gameweek 7.

The most-owned forward in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is joined by Paul Pogba (£7.8m) on the home bench, with the United boss making three changes from the side that lost to Aston Villa last weekend.

The injured Harry Maguire (£5.4m) is the other player to make way.

“Wednesday night was a big effort, big emotional and physical output, so we needed to freshen it up when it’s an early kick-off.” – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on his team selection

Edinson Cavani (£8.4m), Anthony Martial (£7.6m) and Victor Lindelof (£4.8m) are the three players who didn’t start in Gameweek 6 who make the line-up today.

Luke Shaw (£5.4m) is fit to start, meanwhile, having been a doubt for this game because of illness and injury.

Shaw was the most-sold player of Gameweek 7, with just under one million Fantasy managers offloading him.

The Everton team news is much more straightforward: head coach Rafael Benitez makes one change from last weekend’s 2-0 win over Norwich City, with youngster Anthony Gordon (£4.5m) starting in place of the injured Alex Iwobi (£5.9m).

GAMEWEEK 7 LINE-UPS

Man Utd XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Varane, Shaw, McTominay, Fred, Fernandes, Greenwood, Martial, Cavani.

Subs: Henderson, Bailly, Pogba, Ronaldo, Lingard, Sancho, Telles, Matic, van de Beek.

Everton XI: Pickford, Godfrey, Keane, Mina, Digne, Doucoure, Allan, Gordon, Gray, Townsend, Rondon.

Subs: Begovic, Lonergan, Kenny, Holgate, Gbamin, Davies, Branthwaite, Whitaker, Dobbin.

Come on Ole, it’s a sign of a strong manager to realise when you made a mistake. Get Ron on before the 30min mark..

It was a spell already. You have to do something to break it. Thank me later.

If I'd known someone like Rondon could become a professional football player I would have gone for some tryouts.

The thing with Lingard is probably similar to that of VDB. Solskjaer is so tactically inflexible that, instead of trying to alter the formation to utilise them correctly, he wants to keep the same system even if it's not working. If he starts Lingard he'll play him wide or at CM where he isn't as good and VDB at CDM or CM, so instead of trying to give Lingard a go at playing 10 or VDB as an 8 (and giving Bruno a slightly altered role), he'll just play them in cup games where nearly the whole team is rotated or he'll chuck them on off the bench in games like this and just hope something happens.

Ole is either tactically inflexible when he can't fit in all his attackers or too flexible and has no style/gameplan. The man cannot win.

      1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
        5 years, 20 days ago

I've honestly never seen anyone say he's too flexible. I don't think his team has a particular style either mind but I've always thought he has no plan B

      Hasn't a 4-3-3 become

      4-2-3-1 today?

      1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
        5 years, 20 days ago

I really don't think there's a huge variance in it with ManUtd, it always looks like they set up in much the same way but perhaps I'm wrong. When he adapted the 4-2-3-1 after project restart I think was a great move from him but he seems to not have much of a way out of that

    3. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
      5 years, 20 days ago

      I prefer 2-1-2-1-1-2-1

      It’s much more tactically sophisticated

Was all set to wildcard but didn't. No thinking if all fit over international break just do ronaldo to lukaku and have a team of

    Sanchez steele
    Rudiger livramento azpi shaw coady
    Sarr salah Bruno gray brownhill
    Lukaku Antonio scarlett

    Or just wildcard?
