Team Reveals

After eight Gameweeks of the 2021/22 campaign, I’m currently sat just outside of the top 100k overall with 531 points.

Since I last checked in, I played a successful Gameweek 7 Wildcard, which I’ve included below alongside my Gameweek 8 set-up and week-by-week history of the season so far.

Now, ahead of Gameweek 9, my priority has been finding a replacement for the injured Romelu Lukaku (£11.6m). There are other issues in my team, like Adam Armstrong (£6.0m), but with a decent enough looking squad, I’m happy to wait a week or two before moving him on.

So, armed with £2.0m in the bank following last week’s frustrating Son Heung-min (£10.2m) > Phil Foden (£8.0m) transfer (don’t ask…), no forward is out of reach.

For context, here’s a shortlist of the options I considered.

More a general discussion point about FPL mindset this one...

With a lot of hits flying around this week, do you see it as a chance to take a hit and take a risk but potentially get ahead of the game with moves you have planned further down the road?

Or do you see it as a chance to play safer, making a small gain on those taking a hit?

I know you should just play your own game but I'm curious what others think?

I dont think in that manner but if my hit week matches with others, than its better.

Nice one, hope it works out. I had a good season with hits last season but I've had a mediocre start this season without taking any yet!

I’m playing it safe. Lukaku injury has messed up my wildcard from last week so just brought in Aubameyang and then might do some minor surgery with hits once there’s more solid info on timescales etc

There are shedloads of hits being taken.

Being agressive this GW could pay off but all comes down to who you get in for hits...

I would not punt on players who have not been in form though or require transfers out the following week 🙂

        Sounds like sage advice!

I was ready to do Ronaldo to Vardy or Toney this week, ended up doing Lukaku to Vardy.

I want Toney from next week, and still tempted to bring him in for Ronaldo this week for a hit... but I just have this nagging doubt Ronaldo will finally come good (in PL terms at least) this weekend!

Depends on the make up of the team and whether a hit will actually contribute much. If the team looks 'okay' then it's a fine time to not hit and try and use the +4 gained. If the team looks poor then it's an even easier reason to take a hit.

        Nicely put.

That's what's dissuaded me from a -4 this week. My team is fine, with Smith Rowe and Marcal on the bench. As a result, Ronaldo to Toney for -4 (while I can do it for free next week) doesn't feel sensible now.

    Repost as bottomed.

    WC draft

    Raya, Foster
    Cancelo, Rudiger, Chilwell, Duffy, Livra
    Salah, Son, Havertz, Raphinha, Mbeumo
    Vardy, Edouard, Broja

Trying to be less maverick following previous comments.

Have 0.5ITB. Is it worth "upgrading" Duffy to Tierney? Worry that Duffy might be on borrowed time now Webster is back.

Anything you would change here or G2G?

      Team this week would be:

      Raya
      Cancelo, Chilwell, Rudiger
      Salah, Son, Havertz, Raphinha, Mbeumo
      Vardy, Edouard

      Bench: Broja, Livra, Duffy, Foster.

I agree about Duffy, too risky. I´m also on a WC, and I´m keeping Coady in that slot for security of starts.
Not sure about Broja, especially as Edouard is there. Personally I´d drop Raphina out (or Mbop) and go for Toney, or Wilson, or..
