Two sides in woeful defensive form meet at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this evening.

Spurs v Manchester United kicks off at 17:30 BST.

The Lilywhites and the Red Devils didn’t keep a clean sheet between them in the six Gameweeks preceding this one, each conceding 13 goals in the process.

Ole Gunner Solskjaer has responded to the thrashing by Liverpool by opting for a more defensive set-up, bringing in a third centre-half in the shape of Raphael Varane alongside Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire.

Edinson Cavani is also recalled to the side, so United seem to be lining up in a 3-4-1-2 as both Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood have dropped to the bench.

Paul Pogba serves the first match of a three-game suspension after his sending off last week.

After naming an unchanged team for three matches in a row, Nuno Espirito Santo has made two alterations for the teatime visit of Solskjaer’s troops.

Ben Davies is in for Sergio Reguilon at left-back, while Giovani Lo Celso replaces Tanguy Ndombele in midfield.

GAMEWEEK 10 LINE-UPS

Man Utd XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Varane, Maguire, Shaw, McTominay, Fred, Bruno Fernandes, Ronaldo, Cavani.

Subs: Henderson, Bailly, Dalot, Matic, Van de Beek, Sancho, Lingard, Rashford, Greenwood.

Tottenham XI: Lloris, Emerson Royal, Romero, Dier, Davies, Hojbjerg, Skipp, Moura, Lo Celso, Son, Kane.

Subs: Gollini, Doherty, Reguilon, Sanchez, Rodon, Tanganga, Alli, Ndombele, Bergwijn.

It's a daunting feeling being a quiet unassuming bloke from Reading who has direct control over what happens every week in a multi-million pound sporting industry

I had that 2 seasons ago, every single week my VC was outscoring my captain. Very frustrating indeed.

      1. Gubby-Allen
        • 4 Years
        4 years, 9 months ago

I got 98 points from my captains over the 37 standard captain weeks, average of about 2.5 per week.

        This season is less.

        Last 5 weeks:

        C2 VC 7
        C1 VC 13
        C2 VC 13
        C1 VC 24
        C5 VC 12

Today was the least likely of those where Ronaldo would outscore Salah.

It is the equivalent of tossing a coin and getting it right, 50 goes in a row.

Really giving that KDB -> Son switch in GW12 a serious thought with how spurs are playing. Might look for a couple other options in case I don't feel confident with Nuno's spurs when gw12 comes around.

Crazy to think this team won 6-1 at OT last year.

What has happened, it can’t be the manager, the players on the pitch will look to their strengths in Kane and Son no matter what Nuno says. It’s only natural.

    Just don’t get it

    1. @persecuted_by_mods

So Nuno telling them not to press and attack? I don’t believe it, no good or sane manager would say that surely otherwise they wouldn’t be in a job in the first place

It was actually Mourinho > Fonseca > Gattuso > Nuno with the later three all in the space of about a fortnight - they were all over the place

    3. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
      • 16 Years

Kane sank the boat with his antics before the season start

Basically told all of his teammates he felt the club was a shithole, he was far too good for it, and he wanted out

Throw in the way they treated Paulo Fonseca as soon as they heard Gattuso was available... before then U-Turning on Gattuso as soon as they heard the way the fans felt about Gattuso... before finally panic appointing someone even more negative than Mourinho, who they sacked on the eve of a cup final...

I mean we could keep going - but is there any more needed? Players aren't stupid - they can tell when a club is being ran like a circus

      1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
        • 16 Years
        4 years, 9 months ago

*Actually - I'd like to rephrase that - a lot of players *are* stupid...

Bt they can still tell when the club is basically like a reinactment of a Faulty Towers episode

        • 16 Years

Even going right back to sacking Poch after getting Spurs to a champions league final

SPURS TO A CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL

It's all leadership stuff - they basically didn't have a manager/had 4 potential managers in the space of a few months, their captain had to be dragged kicking & screaming into training like some overgrown millionaire toddler who didn't want to go to school, and their chairman is like something straight out of a bond movie (and not the hero either btw)

Horrible, horrible club, with horrible, horrible cretins in leadership positions and deserve everything they get for the next few years
