The Premier League has confirmed that Saturday’s Gameweek 21 clash between Leicester City and Norwich City has been called off.

The postponement comes after a combination of positive Covid-19 cases and injuries within the Canaries camp.

A statement from the Premier League said:

“Following a request from Norwich City, the Premier League Board met today and regrettably agreed to postpone the club’s fixture at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium, due to be played at 15:00 GMT on Saturday 1 January.

The Board accepted Norwich’s application as the club do not have the required number of players available for the match (13 outfield players and one goalkeeper), due to COVID-19 cases and injuries.

The decision by the Board was able to be made in advance of the fixture to give clarity to the affected clubs and their fans. We apologise for the inconvenience and disruption caused to supporters’ festive plans.

The League is aware that the recent decisions to postpone matches will disappoint supporters, and understands their frustrations at a special time of year when fans look forward to attending and watching football games.

The League aims to provide as much clarity as possible, but unfortunately postponements sometimes have to be made at short notice, as safety is our priority. Where possible, the League will endeavour to keep supporters updated if games become at risk on a matchday.”

As a result of the postponement, both Leicester City and Norwich City will blank in Gameweek 21, though there is a chance both teams could have a fixture moved into one of the free midweeks.

Who would you transfer in for Bernardo on a free?

    A) Gray
    B) Bowen

Gray with the better fixtures, Bowen with the form.

I don’t see why anyone would move early in this climate just for 0.1. The Spurs could easily be called off tomorrow or even on Saturday, like every other fixture.

Yes, just hit the switch after all games have been played. Got 14 players with a confirmed game just now (broja only one missing out so far) and he was going to go anyway. I’ve brought in cucurella and plan to hop back on the Chelsea defence after CWC. It’s a 0.1 retention of value a few weeks before my wildcard with a player in a new team for my squad VS a day more info. There is a time to hold off decisions (champions league weeks/international breaks/matches yet to play/covid) but I’m comfortable with the risks just now.

Maddison could still get a game vs Everton if it’s scheduled (very Cheeky captain punt if you get him in with Son VC if it doesn’t happen).

That said the sensible pick it just wait a day. FA Cup could see injuries etc

I'm sturggling to find cover for Salah whilst he's at AFCON, a lot of people seem to be going to Son but are his fixtures really that great in 22 & 23 against Arsenal (H) and Chelsea (A)?

        Is there an alternative?

        Many thanks

Fixtures for Son have been the last two & Watford...

Maybe a KDB to keep money in one spot?

Thanks chaps, my bad, I should have mentioned that I already have Sterling, Foden and Cancelo, KDB would be the obvious move otherwise.

The son pick is in anticipation of DGW’s happening and not just the scheduled fixtures.

KDB the obvious choice as holds the cash nicely.

Many thanks, unfortunately, as I've mentioned above, I already have Sterling, Foden and Cancelo, so KDB isn't an option I'm afraid. I'd like to leave the cash in one place but I can't bring myself to go for Son solely on the anticipation of DGW's. I've decided to keep Salah for the Chelsea game and see what develops.

Am I missing something with the rush to get Spurs defenders? Upcoming fixtures aren't great with Arsenal & Chelsea with City too. Not sure there's loads of great options, but think I prefer Lampety or Cash.

I don’t think you are Matron, think there are better options out there going forward. I think people are factoring in the DGWs into their thinking.

DGW news will help a lot, because its looking very tough to pick players at the moment. I did contemplate a WC, but frankly there's too many question marks at the moment.

My rival has Salah and captains him every week. I have a small lead over him and own Salah. Unlike him I own Son.
        Would you,

        A) Captain Salah knowing that if you fail so does he?
        B) Risk losing the lead by going with Son?

It really hurts to wait while players you know you're definitely going to replace this week go down in price but the info right now on DGWs and COVID postponements is just way too valuable.

Gonna have to go to bed in a huff watching James and Bernardo go down in price. Not happy about it.

Personally I don’t mind it. I feel we’ve got so many good budget options that there’s always an alternative. Maybe TV will become more important later in the season but right now I’m ignoring price moves

I need every cent if I'm going to buy Ronaldo.

            Have exact money for:
James, Bernardo, Laca > Davies, Raphinha/Lucas, Ronaldo

But I can't do it. Not today. Not without double confirmations. If Ronaldo gets a DGW he must come in imo and I would be forced to settle for a cheaper mid like Gallagher or Gray or someone like that.

Just been thinking exactly the same, I have TAA, Cancelo, Rudiger, Livramento and James.

I know that I'm definitely going to sell James this week (and probably massively downgrade him too) but I just don't know who to until we have more data, so I'm just going to have to swallow the price drop.

The cancellation of the Norwich game lends impetus to the league to arrange a replacement fixture in a more timely manner. I know this might not be announced until early Saturday, but it might be that one or two are firmly in place by tomorrow night.

Now we wait. A grand time at work tonight. Colleague needs some KPIs adjusted so he's basically agreed to do everything. Catching up on Football Weekly (dozed off during my earlier attempt), will maybe attempt The Eternals later on.
