We’ve had plenty of ‘blanks’ in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) so far this season and now we’re on a run of Double Gameweeks as we attempt to catch up.

We’ve already seen ‘doubles’ in Gameweeks 21-23, while Double Gameweek 25 has an extra fixture for both Manchester United and Brighton, and Double Gameweek 26 will feature eight teams playing twice.

A total of 14 outstanding matches are still to be rearranged.

There are confirmed cup-related blanks in Gameweeks 24, 25 and 27, meanwhile, with more to follow in Gameweeks 30 and 33.

The good news is that, while more Covid-related postponements can’t be completely ruled out, falling positive cases and the Premier League’s tightening of rules for match cancellations should mean this is much less of a danger than before.

With the situation constantly evolving, our Blank and Double Gameweek guide rounds up what we know at present.

VISUAL OVERVIEW

FPL Blank and Double Gameweeks: What we know so far 4

  • Gameweek 24: A Blank Gameweek for Chelsea and Brighton, no doubles.
  • Gameweek 25: A Double Gameweek for Man Utd and Brighton, a Blank Gameweek for Chelsea and Arsenal.
  • Gameweek 26: A Double Gameweek for Arsenal, Burnley, Crystal Palace, Leeds, Liverpool, Spurs, Watford and Wolves.
  • Gameweek 27: A possible Double Gameweek if teams with an outstanding match-up are eliminated by the FA Cup fifth-round stage. Four sides, Arsenal, Chelsea, Leicester and Liverpool, will have their weekend matches postponed because of the EFL Cup final, however.
  • Gameweek 28: A possible Double Gameweek for anyone bar Brentford, Crystal Palace, Man City, Man Utd, West Ham, Liverpool, Leicester (if they are still in the Conference League) and Norwich (if Leicester are still in the Conference League).
  • Gameweek 29: A possible Double Gameweek for anyone bar Brentford, Crystal Palace, Man City, Man Utd, West Ham, Chelsea, Leicester (if they are still in the Conference League) and Norwich (if Leicester are still in the Conference League)
  • Gameweek 30: No chance of a Double Gameweek and a near-certain chance of it being a Blank Gameweek, as it will clash with the FA Cup quarter-finals. Aston Villa v Arsenal is the only fixture that so far will definitely go ahead.
  • Gameweek 33: A free midweek does allow for a Double Gameweek, although the weekend games do clash with the FA Cup semi-finals, too.
  • Gameweek 36: A free midweek allows for a Double Gameweek. This is likely to be the biggest Double Gameweek of the season.

There is also a chance of there being other small Double Gameweeks in Gameweeks 31, 32, 34, 35 and 37, with the results of cup competitions home and abroad likely to dictate that.

I only have 5 players with a DGW in 26 as it stands.

Think I'm gonna do Son/King to Trossard/Ronaldo in 25 and just use my first FH in 26. Anyone else thinking similarly?

Yeah, no TC is a bit of a worry, but just have to hope getting an 'optimal' XI all with DGWs will cover it. BB is not an option, don't even have a playing bench atm!

That is definitely an option, but I feel that my XI is strong enough for 24, 25 and 27 that I can get away with it. Without any Arsenal players and "only" 2 Pool I am well set up for 27...

Depends how many FHs you have. Me, with only one FH, will probably save it for BGW30.
And I don't see any reason having Ronaldo or Kane in team this season. Would rather invest that money in mid and def since those two are too expansive for what they are doing or what will do this season.

I have both after FPL screwed me pre-deadline on Boxing Day lol.

United play Watford in 27, and after that I will get rid of both Bruno and Ronaldo.

Utd can play vs Blyth dude, they are not goal scoring machine. DDG, Dalot or Bruno only if you really need Utd players

Haha true. Fixtures in 27 are slim apart from the Manchester teams though. Dalot would be my preferred choice if I knew he was going to start every game...

    RMWCT?

    DDG, Sanchez
    TAA, Robertson, Cancelo, Laporte, Digne
    Bruno, Bowen, Maddison, Gallagher, Ramsey
    Antonio, Watkins, Broja

    2.1 ITB

    - Planning to move Bruno --> Salah once I know for sure he's back and running from AFCON
    - Too many eggs in Pool and City baskets?
    - Antonio still worth holding on? Or would DCL or Edouard be better bets?
    - Keeping an eye on Newcastle defence and Everton forwards going ahead.

    Thanks in advance!

What are your plans with regards the coming DGWs?

Man City doesn't offer a lot with those (appreciate, if playing, they're still great options).
Maddison fixtures (vs teams with doubles) puts me off.

If this was a team to just navigate a load of normal gameweeks I think it's great - but it's not setting you up for the doubles particuarly well.

great point, not sure I've set up too well for the DGWs besides Digne, Madisson and Watkins. Just felt like there were so many unknowns with and when DGWs happen so I haven't factored it into my planning as much

          As I say, I think it's a strong side.
I'm WCing this week with a view to a FH27... I've looked to try and be strong for the blanks and gameweeks around that and general fixtures. I'd just check you're happy with the fixture runs of some of those.

Will definitely WC on Monday, after we have a clear picture of Salah and BGW30. Looking at DGWs, Arsenal/Liverpool blanks and fixtures, this will be probably my team in GW24:

    DDG (Foster)
    Robbo Cancelo Digne (Davis, White)
    Jota Bruno KDB Bowen Coutinho
    Edouard ASM (Idah)

No transfers in GW25. In two moves I will downgrade KDB and swap Jota for Salah, maybe even go for TAA with minus 4 in DGW26.

    Opinions?

I think it really depends who the players in question are. I'm currently working towards 6/7 DGW players, not sure I prefer many of the others to players I already own with good SGW fixtures like Antonio/Bowen (NEW), Watkins/Digne (WAT) or Cancelo (can haul in any fixture).

      Considering WC to this:

      DDG Foster
TAA Robertson Davies Mitchell Ait Nouri
Salah Bruno Bowen Martinelli Mac Allister
      Kane Edouard King

Would give 3DGWers in GW25, before I BB with 11DGWers in GW26, the following would have SGW's:

      DDG (lee)
      Bruno (lee)
      Bowen (NEW)
      Mac Allister (BUR)

2FT's to then get a full XI for BGW27

    I'm 90% sure I'm doing Alonso > Dalot.

But that leaves me with an interesting choice for my 2nd FT.

    Bernardo > Mahrez
    OR
    Maddison > Foden

Would be left with the one I don't remove so it's effectively.

    A) Maddison + Mahrez
    B) Foden + Bernardo

Kane but wildcarding next week. Don’t think it’s worth booking in a transfer so just want to decide on the best option. Will probably move to Lukaku in 28 if he shows any form as the fixture run is crazy green for a few weeks (not that this plan ended well last time!)

      Anyone's guess.

There's still lots of games to rearrange with more postponements coming up depending on FA cup progress

36 is the only week with a full set of fixtures and a completely free midweek after it, so sounds like the best bet.

Would you WC this lot? If not may play without keeper this week, roll ft, then bring in Bruno for 25 and Salah for 26

    Sanchez* Steele*
    TAA Cancelo White Keane Royal
    Bowen Gray Gallagher Jota Son
    Dennis King Antonio

I Would do to be honest. I had double up upfront at Watford like you, you’ve also Gray, Keane, Royal and you could get a couple of premiums in the squad.

I also have 2 Watford and Antonio up top and considering WC to sort that out.

Will switch KDB and Bruno to Salah and Son come DGW 26, and then FH in 27. Leaves me with only 2 DGWers in 25, but 11 in 26.

Very nice, I'm actually considering going without City assets (would be GW25 WC, own Cancelo, KDB and Sterling for GW24):

      DDG Foster
      TAA Robertson Davies Mitchell RAN
Salah Bruno Bowen Martinelli Mac Allister
      Kane Edouard King

      DGW25: x3 players
DGW26: x11 player + x4 players with good Fixtures (BB)
DGW27: 2FT's to field an XI

Couple of the pundits have said they favour Robertson over Jota for the third Liverpool slot and now its all the rage.

Is it possible to have an original thought in FPL anymore?

Would've thought that to be obvious though.

A combo of Salah & Mane due back soon from AFCON, the Luis Diaz signing and Firmino back to full fitness means that Jota isn't as appealing as he was a few weeks back.

Robbo is the better choice right now

Do you not think Robbo will also be rotated in the league considering he’ll be 100% nailed in the big cl and cup final games ?

Possibly. Anyone can be rotated with games coming thick and fast

He'll start more than Jota though and less prone to 1 point cameo sub appearances

With the amount of games Liverpool plays from Cardiff, Tsimikas plays some games. And in the double, i would actually rather want my player, if not starting, coming in. My guess is Tsimikas gets Norwich. Jota plays both, but not start. I think it also depends on your current team. I saw now when i looked at my team it might be better to have Jota, because i have 3 def already dobling in 26, and i want to her rid of both trossard, after 25 and Bilva needs to go, so for me its more likely to gi Jota but other team will be opposite. And i will likely wc after 27, so Robertson might be better Long term.

Robbo is a defender. I prefer having Laporte over him because of higher cs potential. Laporte is cheaper and Jota is more attacking for that dgw. No need to overthink it yet. Liverpool's first team attack is still Salah, Mane and Jota.

Don't need to be a pundit to know that, though I think it'll be close, jota output will increase as salah is back, but robbo is in great attacking form, so much that a CS 4 points are an addition to the assists

In that double Klopp can actually be the decisive factor-)
If Robertson gets one bench Jota gets better cards, but if the opposite happens, well. And that we will not know before hand, that is why this is purely team dependent, and thus, you dont need to be an expert to know this.

Personally I like to focus on defence in DGW's - players easier to switch around. I did not hear the 'experts' mention this to be honest.
All I know is I plan to switch Varane to VVD gw26 and go double liverpool defence with Salah.
I also plan to TC TAA as I feel it is a bit of blind spot that the community has. Plus I think clean sheets and TAA's assists are likely. Plus there is always the potential Salah is rested or subbed early.

Personally I have a feeling Roberston could be rotated for Tsmikas in the DGW. A point many seem to have forgotten given how well Tsmikas has played when given the chance.

Fun watching VVD at corners - always capable of getting his noggin on one. Plus is immune from rotation unless injured.

No idea on best WC with the new fixtures. Option A or B. Already used BB and 2FT.

    X, X
    TAA, Robertson, Cancelo, X, X
    Salah, Fernandes, Raphinha, Bowen, X
    Watkins, Edouard, X

    A) De Gea, Foster, Digne, Dier, Ramsey, Broja 442
    B) Ramsdale, Sanchez, Dalot, Kilman, Martinelli, Idah 352

Looked quite attacking. Decent defence. Think people thought they would have some doubles soon too. Consedering a change in my WC now to get Arsenal and Liverpool players.

I did consider getting rid of him for Arsenal/Liverpool defenders. As I have not much value tied up in him. However, I feel this could be an error based on the fixtures - his attacking nature - Villa momentum and potential DGW after gw27 so I am holding on to him even on a WC at the moment.
