As part of the Meet the Manager series, Joe catches up Fantasy Football Scout regular poster and four-time top 10k finisher Camzy ahead of Double Gameweek 26.

Camzy started playing Fantasy Premier League (FPL) back in 2006, when he was just a teenager. Within three years he had finished in the top 100 and three more strong finishes within the top 10,000 followed.

But then life got in the way and FPL took a back seat. Rather than play half-heartedly, he took a break for three seasons from 2014.

While he was away from the game, FPL changed markedly. Chips were introduced and the number of managers increased rapidly.

In addition, the level of information available to managers grew, with social media creating further communities to discuss the game. This has seen an ever-increasing number of managers becoming aware of the intricacies of strong management – from following underlying statistics to keeping up to date with fixture rescheduling.

Then in recent years, there’s been Covid to deal with as well, with match postponements to tackle.

It was a different FPL world he had returned to 2018/19. But while the last three seasons have had a mixture of strong and less successful finishes, he has enjoyed being back and having FPL in his life once again.

This excellent career record and break from FPL gives him a unique insight into how the game has changed and the evolving strategy needed to battle against millions of clued-up managers each season.

He reveals the key aspects of his successful seasons that continue to help him and how he has swiftly adapted his strategy around chips.

With a Double Gameweek coming up, this week is a perfect time to put his planning to the test as he outlines the transfers he is keen to make and how he hopes to deploy his chips for the season run-in.

This episode also marks a reunion for Camzy and Joe, who were Fantasy Football Scout community teammates for a Euros tournament a decade ago.

With Jota most likely out, what is people's opinion on Firmino? Was going for Jiminez but Jota injury has scuppered my plans. Not keen on Robbo as I think he'll be rested for one game. Who else can play in the middle of the front 3 only origi?

Yes, I’m the same. I was ready to go for Jimenez, but pleased I waited and will probably go with Firmino now.

There will be other doubles. TC is not a very important chip anyway. I would rather have two BBs.

      1. scubasmithy
        • 10 Years
        3 years, 9 months ago

I agree I think Bench boost is a much more valuable chip - I think in effect the average score from the two chips is quite difference

Triple captain - worst case it might only get you a point, best case 25, realistically probably somwhere between 10-20 points - even if you play this well it can do nothing - its a one shot deal on one player

Bench Boost - Floor is much higher - I'd say you should be virtually guaranteed 10 points from it, best case could be 30+ and realistically somewhere between 15-25 if played well, you get 4 chances to get points with a full bench.

        1. Ruth_NZ
          • 10 Years
          3 years, 9 months ago

Not so. If you analyse previous season's results rather than just relying on your own experience, you will find that the typical headline score of the two chips is very similar. Added to which, the TC takes literally no preparation and requires no unwind, which are hidden 'costs' that have to be deducted from the value of the BB chip.

The TC is overall the more valuable chip without question.

Your 'best case' number for the TC is just plain wrong by the way. I have seen 30+ on a number of occasions and not off-the-wall picks either - Kane and Alexis Sanchez both achieved that for example.

    5. Ruth_NZ

      Important question.

If City make the FAC SF stage they might have NEW BHA in DGW36, for example. Only issue being they may have won the PL by then and if so Pep's focus will be on CL.

Chelsea could be looking at lee LEI in GW33 or WOL LEI in GW36 if they exit FAC at the QF stage.

So there will be opportunities but this one has a double-positive. One is that Salah is the most reliable premium attacker in the PL, not only this season but over many seasons. And the other is that a fixture pair like NOR LEE is as optimal as you could wish and is happening well before everything is decided in terms of PL finishing positions.

In terms of DGW26 points, it wouldn't surprise me at all if TAA were to outscore Salah this week. But no player is likely to match the high ceiling Salah has in GW26, not in this or any other DGW this season.

        100% this Ruth.

TC on the best player in the game, in a double game week against two of the worst defences in the league, is absolutely a no brainer; even more so if Jota is out as the threat of Salah's minutes being managed is reduced.

So, see the Jota news this morning. Waiting on press releases of course, might have to move him on for... Saka? Disaster. BB for sure now. Just be done with it.

TC not available, FH27 the plan, leaving WC probably for 29/30.
Not convinced the remaining fixtures to be scheduled will fall better for me.

Currently would have 28 players available on BB. 34 is the cap, so seems like a good time to use.

Maddison ticks over nicely with consistent points.

Leicester have a nice set of fixtures to come

Well I for one like it. Not the best fixture for Maddi this week but they are turning good & with all those doubles to come I definitely want him soon too. Robbo is also the best 3rd Pool option imo

Which pair would you rather have this week only?
    A. Raphinha & Kane
    B. Bruno & Edouard

Now that it's officially out in the open that Camzy is not the one in his DP, I guess it's safe to ask: who is she?

    Which of these this week..?

    A - Cancelo

    B - VVD (-4)

    (Not selling Cancelo only benching)

      Its a tough one

      Neven bench Cancelo

I think I am set on the answer, could be worse if Jota is out then Digne will come in for him.

    A) Let Digne come in off bench
    B) Jota --> Cornet (-4) and this would/is be my GW27 transfer plan anyway

Could have a playing 11 in 27 with one FT(or a -4). If I don't use FH in 27, which other GW would be optimal to use my second one after 30?

Shouldn't be any more blanks except 33 (FA Cup SF) so I guess target the big doubles in 36/7

Oh hang on - its placed in 33 in our lord Crellin's calendar, but if you google FA Cup Semi-Final it shows up as 23rd April (GW34). Yet the FA website saya 16th (GW33). Google trying to f*** with our planning?

Yes, it appears to say 16th April everywhere, unless you Google it 😀
