As part of the Meet the Manager series, Joe catches up Fantasy Football Scout regular poster and four-time top 10k finisher Camzy ahead of Double Gameweek 26.

Camzy started playing Fantasy Premier League (FPL) back in 2006, when he was just a teenager. Within three years he had finished in the top 100 and three more strong finishes within the top 10,000 followed.

But then life got in the way and FPL took a back seat. Rather than play half-heartedly, he took a break for three seasons from 2014.

While he was away from the game, FPL changed markedly. Chips were introduced and the number of managers increased rapidly.

In addition, the level of information available to managers grew, with social media creating further communities to discuss the game. This has seen an ever-increasing number of managers becoming aware of the intricacies of strong management – from following underlying statistics to keeping up to date with fixture rescheduling.

Then in recent years, there’s been Covid to deal with as well, with match postponements to tackle.

It was a different FPL world he had returned to 2018/19. But while the last three seasons have had a mixture of strong and less successful finishes, he has enjoyed being back and having FPL in his life once again.

This excellent career record and break from FPL gives him a unique insight into how the game has changed and the evolving strategy needed to battle against millions of clued-up managers each season.

He reveals the key aspects of his successful seasons that continue to help him and how he has swiftly adapted his strategy around chips.

With a Double Gameweek coming up, this week is a perfect time to put his planning to the test as he outlines the transfers he is keen to make and how he hopes to deploy his chips for the season run-in.

This episode also marks a reunion for Camzy and Joe, who were Fantasy Football Scout community teammates for a Euros tournament a decade ago.

      Mine was going strong until I passed up Foden>Bruno(c) for exact change and took a -8 for Ronaldo(c), would have been in the top 500, instead I’m on tilt taking -8 and -12 every week

        This is the trend I have been on most years and tackling FOMO has genuinely improved my rank every year. Which is odd really.

        Trying to not take a -4 or -8 in the middle of the season to become a habit has been hard. I'm still in it atm with taking another hit for Jimenez or Weggy for antonio.

      Thinking of it, that was when I fell off the ladder as well - first choosing him over James (perceived nailedness) then swapping to James after everyone else had gotten is returns.

      Selling Jota and missing out on his hails was what derailed me. Bought him back in GW20 just to catch his baron run too, which made it worse.

        Feel for you guys.. wagon fell off my season when COVID hit & games cancelled. I took so many hits trying to navigate, with the worst week making 5 transfers and 4 of my players transferred in didn’t play.. slowly getting back in to it.
        Keep your heads up and just try and be happy with a green arrow which means you are moving in the right direction no matter how small

            Aha. Well only because it just says ‘AVAILABLE’ without giving any indication that I have two as opposed to one. But appreciate by virtue of not using it I might assume - I just wondered if the 2nd one might have expired

      Tough decision. If I do Jota to Saka straight swap, and get Saïss or Tarkowski over Gabriel in defense, then I'm well set up for GW27 without using FH. But then I'm down to two Liverpool and one Arsenal player this DGW. So can't really decide whether I should plan for FH next GW or not. I still have both FH chips, mind you. Also kind of difficult to keep count of possible hits next three GWs

      Exactly. Also dont want to sell any of my Arsenal triple up before GW30

    6. MJF

        If you have five and one is a 'keeper then you can manage next week fine I think. You could sell one and bench the other three outfielders, or you could make sure you have a Burnley doubler and get 11 out when you consider one of them to be two players (although given they play for Burnley that may be optimistic!)

      hi guys - advice needed.
      loathe to take a -8 but want to get a strong team out for this week and weeks ahead
      Guiata (Foster)
      TAA Cancelo Reg (Lamptey) (Livra)
      Salah, Jota, Fernandes, Bowen, Raph
      Watkins, Dennis (Idah)

      i'm thinking .. Jota-Cornet, Watkins-Jimi, Reg-Tierney
      worth an 8 or any other ideas?

      DDG (Bach)
      Royal Cancelo TAA (Livra, Amartey)
      Foden Jota Bowen Bruno (Maddi)
      Watkins King Dennis

        I Done Bruno to salah, you don’t really want to rip up your team

          This Jota injury changes everything. I was seriously considering about keeping Bruno for LEE & WAT and find another way to fit in Salah. Also, if I get Robertson i will splash all my cash...

      DDG
      TAA Cancelo Digne
      Bruno Jota Foden Raphinha Bowen
      Ronaldo King

      (Gunn Broja Dier Livra)

      Definitely making these transfers:

      Ronaldo, Jota/Foden & DDG ➡️ Laca, Salah & Ramsdale -4

      Would you do Foden (TOT) to Saka (BRE WOL) for an extra -4 if Jota is injured?

      Plan is to FH27 if I get Saka also but will save FH and field 10 with -4 in GW27 if I keep Foden. Thoughts?

      Struggling to see the logic of everyone planning to FH next week.

      I’d rather see out this week with 3/4 combined from Liverpool and arsenal (there are some tasty fixtures for SGW players), and save the FH for inevitable future blanks (30 and another), or unexpected DGWs.

      1. Karan_G14
        • 10 Years

        This is a good opportunity to have 5-6 players from Pool/Arsenal for their good DGW26 fixtures. Then if you FH27 you can have United, City & Burnley players you want for a week and get back your Liverpool & Arsenal (Possible DGW 28/29) in GW28.

        Personally think it’s a great opportunity to use one of the FH if you have two.

        I personally don't like the idea of sitting ~39 million on my bench with blanks. 5 guys from 'Pool and Arsenal. Dier and Weghorst still have flags too.

        It's a no-brainer for me. 2 FH's and WC still left. Only scenario for me to not play FH is if there are injuries to several guys, in which case i would consider WC.

        Fair comments. I can just imagine at least two GWs where it could be more useful. I’ve got all the chips left tho and I’m starting to feel like Smaug. Maybe it’s time to dust one off.

        Well I'd rather properly attack this week with 3x Liv & 3x Ars, dont want to sell any of them next week either. Have 2 FHs left though & am well setup for GW30; if I only had 1 FH left it might be different

        surely it's better to FH in the blank gw rather than use the chip in dgw, where the players you sell could outscore your FH team

          Only have 1 left and want to keep that one for another GW. Leading my ML with 80 points, so I've got quite a lead.

      Salah is rising so slowly. Must be a lot of free hits going around this week.

      Would you save you TC when Man City have a double v Newcastle +1 other poor side? Salah not in great shape (after his return from AFCON) even if he plays both fixtures.

          Concerns about Salah are valid but which man city player will you back to start, probably even harder to do

          If/when City have a double they'll be in the thick of things in other comps, good luck picking their lineups down the track.
          Quite easily the best week to use it in 26

        Well done Camzy on the meet the manager video, will have a listen later. Good to see some of the regular posters on here getting some coverage - about time really given all the videos previously seemed to be focussed on the "experts" from twitter

        A) Jota + DCL ----> Salah + Broja (-4)
        B) Jota + DCL + DDG ------> Salah + Broja + Ramsdale (-8)
        C) Jota + Bruno + Antonio -----> Salah + Son + Broja (-8)
        D) Jota + Bruno + Antonio + DDG -------> Salah + Son + Broja + Ramsdale (-12)

        I'm seriously tempted by the -12 even though it feels wrong to take that many hits.

          A or B for me.
          not tempted personally by any Spurs players .. would rather Fernandes with only one game over Son

          A if so; B if not.

        If it wasnt for fear of everyone TCing Salah I would definitely FH this week.

        Was considering it anyway, but Jota out, only 1 arsenal and no Salah in my team at present makes it even more appealing.

        My team looks ok for 27, much bigger upside to getting a decent XI on FH for a DGW than for SGW. And can WC in 28.

        Very confused as to what to do.

          I would go with what suits your team. I'd say 15-20 points from Salah over the 2 games is a reasonable expectation but your FH might outscore that, plus you then have to factor in using the TC later in the season and in a DGW you would hope to get 8-10pts (being conservative) so really not sure TC is that valuable a chip in the grand scheme of things.
