Gameweek 1 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) comes to a close this afternoon with West Ham United hosting Manchester City at the London Stadium.

Kick-off is at 16:30 BST.

43.8% owned Erling Haaland leads the line for the visitors in Pep Guardiola’s 4-3-3 formation, with Phil Foden and Jack Grealish preferred to Riyad Mahrez on the flanks.

The Algerian, meanwhile, is named among the substitutes alongside Bernardo Silva, plus new signings Stefan Ortega, Kalvin Phillips and Julian Alvarez.

Michail Antonio starts in attack for West Ham, with Gianluca Scamacca on the bench.

It could be any one of Vladimir Coufal, Aaron Cresswell and Ben Johnson partnering Kurt Zouma at the back, with Craig Dawson and Nayef Aguerd missing out.

GAMEWEEK 1 LINE-UPS

West Ham United XI: Fabianski, Coufal, Zouma, Johnson, Cresswell, Soucek, Rice, Bowen, Lanzini, Fornals, Antonio

Subs: Areola, Randolph, Ashby, Coventry, Downes, Okoflex, Vlasic, Benrahma, Scamacca

Manchester City XI: Ederson, Walker, Dias, Ake, Cancelo, Rodri, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Foden, Grealish, Haaland

Subs: Ortega, Phillips, Stones, Alvarez, Bernardo, Mahrez, Palmer, Lewis, Wilson-Esbrand

Did anyone notice West Ham has only one CB playing and Johnson filling in for the other side?

    Haaland is going to feast.

Coady heading to Everton. Strange one.

He's a scouser and he's no longer first choice at Wolves.

Wolves gone to a back 4. Coady can only play back 3. Still, strange.

I heard from a friend who’s mum works at Wolves and he said Newcastle were after him in Jan.

Leaving has been on the cards.

Hopefully he can play in a back 4 as that’s the way Frank wants to play apparently.

No chance are Everton playing back 4 after pre-season.

it makes sense for Everton with their injuries, and he's seemingly out of favour at Wolves, so not that surprising really

      Actually not strange at all.

Both CBs have long term injuries, he’s experienced, a leader and he’s a scouser (red, unfortunately). Everton needs someone trustworthy they can count on.

He’s lacking in pace but makes up for it in other ways, hopefully.

Would you transfer out James to Cucu and use the 1M to upgrade elsewhere (in my case Rashford to Kulu). I think Cucurella looked really dangerous and will be starting games soon.

Chilwell could barely run, even the penalty was because of that. Far from fit, hence the sub, and Cucu offered a lot when o the pitch for those few mins he was on. Runs, inside channel cutting, improved set pieces.

I'm torn between upgrading to Dias (got 0.5 itb), or bringing in Saliba to upgrade Bailey as well, or keeping even. Tough call.

          • 14 Years

Yeah, I mean he's surely going to be 1st choice eventually, but he has to earn it first. One poor showing from Sess, or a strong Perisic cameo from the bench and he'll get the spot.

But it sounds like Europe rotation is going to become a problem regardless, so probably sensible to admit the mistake, and correct it right away...

Really? Constantly had to check back on his left foot. Shot when he should have passed. Passed when he should have shot. Fair play he worked hard as always and got into good positions, but someone with a bit more quality would've had some attacking returns.

Thing is it depends on where he's going to play when everyone is fit, will be play at LB when Tierney is up to scratch? I'm sure he will at times but not the preferred option, his assist too wasn't exactly a typical LB one either. Too early to judge I think

I'd be hesitant on Zinchenko. He was poor defensivly and Tierney is too good not to be starting at LB. Leaves Xhaka vs Zinc at LCM, not sure it's a straightforward choice.

Saliba was incredible, he's a star in the making. He'll be nailed as can be.
