Friday afternoon brought confirmation that six teams would ‘double’ in Gameweek 34, adding more information for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers to use when planning how to navigate the peaks and troughs of this upcoming schedule.

This article sees us assess the clubs and players with, in theory, the strongest and weakest runs of matches over the next six Gameweeks, taking us through Double Gameweek 29, Blank Gameweek 32 and Double Gameweek 34.

Our colour-coded Season Ticker is the primary source for this piece; using this tool as a Premium Member, you can sort by difficulty, rank by attacking and defensive potential or find budget rotation pairings. You can even set your own difficulty ratings, should you disagree with our own.

You can see a tutorial on the Season Ticker here.

FPL review: Martial injury, Brighton's budget buys + Liverpool "really bad" 2

LIVERPOOL

The Season Ticker puts Liverpool on top over the medium term, despite the imminent run of Manchester City (a), Chelsea (a) and Arsenal (h).

Jurgen Klopp’s side contest eight fixtures over the next six Gameweeks, the joint-most alongside West Ham United. Unlike the Hammers (and several other teams), they don’t have the distraction of cup competitions at home or abroad – so the sole focus is on the Premier League for the rest of 2022/23.

The upcoming double on the road is a concern given that Jurgen Klopp’s side have lost seven of their 13 away games, failing to grab any goals at Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Everton.

Yet the fixtures improve afterward, helped by them being one of six teams to have a Double Gameweek 34. It’s hard to predict what mood the Reds will be in but, as shown by this season’s 9-0 and 7-0 demolition jobs at Anfield, Liverpool assets are capable of turning up at any time and hauling big.

Mohamed Salah (£12.8m) leads the way for FPL targets at a time when premium midfielders are seemingly going out of fashion and it’s been even rarer to see £6.0m+ defenders like Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.3m) and Andrew Robertson (£6.8m) in active FPL squads recently.

Although the pair have helped deliver five clean sheets in their last six outings, the 5.69 expected goals conceded (xGC) tally suggests an unsustainable run of luck. Indeed, they’ve allowed the second-most number of big chances since the Gameweek 17 restart.

But the key Liverpool assets are still going to be hard to ignore from Gameweek 31 onwards, given that only one of their remaining nine fixtures comes against a ‘big six’ club.

WEST HAM UNITED

Got pretty much all my potential transfer avenues planned out for the rest of the season now. Due to all the doubles I don’t see much changing so the rest of the season is just a case of time passing.

Been a weird one ruined by pointless match cancellations which has led to everyone pretty much taking the same approach. Oh well x

I slightly screwed myself with using the free hit earlier than I should have, so here's hoping there's a few more surprises to come...

Hardly got any blankers and planning to WC in 33 to get doublers for 34 and 37. Tempted to use it this week, but seems I’d only gain around 15 pts on my current team

WC33 actually looks like it sets up a better BB in 34 than what the template has put together for 29. There will be a lot of things as well that change our plans.

Can someone explain to me how are new/BRE considered as good fixtures for United defenders? And why are people taking hits for Shaw?

It's unclear to me. I'm not doing Henry > Shaw for free. Their defensive fixture difficulty is quite similar (medium-ish). I would rather have Shaw but it's not worth 4 points imo.

Probably a large portion of the hit-takers are getting an extra fixture, though, so that would make it worthwhile. Who else would you prefer?

I think another Newcastle defender might be the answer, especially if you're not FHing in BGW32, but they aren't the most exciting players. Shaw isn't likely to get an attacking return in the DGW, but then he has EVE & nfo

I would not be surprised to see United keep a CS in both of those? Newcastle don’t score against the top 4 usually plus Brentford aren’t exactly a mega attacking threat I think ETH will have figured it out a bit better since losing 4-0 to them.

Chip strategy important. You have a strong front 8 which is already a bench headache but means that you will be playing 3 defenders each week. If you do Emerson Royal to Shaw (which is the obvious move) you are benching one of Zinchenko, Chilwell, Trippier and Shaw each week - not ideal I don't think. If you are BB this week, which I assume you are, then look for someone cheap and benchable (Estupinan or Botman). If you aren't BB then roll the transfer for now.

      Initial transfer thoughts.

GW29: Ode to Bruno/Maddison or Zinchenko and Ode to Shaw and Bruno/Maddison (-4)
GW30: Toney/Kane to Haaland or downgrade someone + Toney to Haaland (-4)

      BB29 FH32
      1FT 6.7ITB
      Kepa
      Tripper Botman Estupinan Chilwell
      March Saka Mitoma Rashford
      Watkins Toney
      (Raya Kane Ode Zinchenko)

I'd probably just do the Ode to Bruno/Maddi move - feel like the former of the two especially if you will FH32.

Kane could bounce back (noting he's never really been away) with new manager - more likely for Spurs given there were clearly dressing room issues with Conte

Sound. Zinchenko - Shaw is borderline for a hit this week, but fine as a long-term move given you have Haaland booked in for next week

Yeah if bringing in Shaw, may as well be this GW for a hit to setup for 3 DGWs until the end of the season.

      Kepa, Raya
      Trippier, Botman, Mee, Estupinan, Gabriel
      Rashford, Mitoma, Martinelli, Saka, Maddison
      Kane, Toney, Watkins

2FT and playing BB. I think 1 is a defensive upgrade and I fancy Chilwell most. Wondering if I can shoe-horn Bruno in as well, although how to do that is a challenge. Thoughts on options welcomed please.

      a. Just Gabriel/Mee to Chilwell and roll
      b. Just Maddison to Bruno and roll
      c. Gabriel/Mee to Shaw and Maddison to Bruno (no hit for Haaland in 30)
      d. Gabriel/Mee to Chilwell and Maddison to Bruno (hit to afford Haaland in 30)

Me neither. Its a mix of wanting Bruno but not really having an obvious way to get him in.

May do both Gabriel and Mee to Chilwell and Shaw instead. Feels boring for a DGW BB

            • 7 Years

I agree Maddison is the player to lose IF you really want Bruno.

2 CBs to 2 attacking FB/WBs doesn't look boring to me

I'm not quite sold on Maddison - Bruno (just yet at least, maybe in 34), so A for me. But if you want to make that move I'd prefer to optimise the BB (I think Chilwell will probably outscore Shaw by 4) & figure out the Haaland move later

Yeah, despite what I said above, Kane could be a make-weight for Haaland avoiding the hit albeit that I'd still want him for that nice BOU fixture in 31 before considering rid.

        Or...
        Gabriel > Chilwell
        Kepa > Iversen
Gives flexibility for ARS going forward and frees up £.
Raya & Iversen fixtures dovetail quite nicely going forward.
Marginally better GW29 fixtures for Maddison v Fernandes imo.

Thanks, was pleased when I was able to lose Ward. I'm not going back there especially with risk of Brendan changing his mind again - would prefer to roll and happy with the rotation between Kepa and Raya.

I think Gabriel might be sensible eventually. Jesus could be a good option so having the flexibility to get on him early may be important.

      Havertz Toney Kane

I was thinking Saka & Toney > Fernandes & Isak. Planning to FH32 so not very concerned with losing Arsenal for DGWers. Toney > Isak would need to happen to be able to afford Havertz > Haaland in 30.

If Arsenal win big to nil against Leeds, I don't think those three -8s (which is what B is effectively) pay off.

I wouldn't lose Saka either. Maybe just Zinchenko to Shaw for free?

I'd fancy B if you already have another Brighton mid (assuming possibly because you didn't suggest Mitoma in a)

Anyone looking at Kane to Haaland in 30 for free.

Looking at captaincy, Kane v BOU (H) in 31 will be one of the top picks but it'll be difficult to go against Haaland v LEI (H)

I probably was until Conte got the boot. New manager bounce often associated with situations when players and manager are clearly clashing so possibly applies here.

That said, if you are squeezing in three premiums for the run in, I think Bruno and Salah might just be ahead of him by the time you get to 32 so swapping early for Haaland and shifting the funds into midfield, albeit at the expense of that game vs BOU, might be the way forward.

Didn't mean to imply he was. But as a team, they should start performing better, which should translate into more points for Kane

Unfortunately Tomori isn't there yet but would love someone to step up and replace Maguire, hopefully he will soon. Walker is next level compared to Reece, I'd also start Trippier ahead of James.

My jury is still out on Maquire, and I'd like to see Rice arriving late in the penalty box (à la Lampard), but it's a solid squad with solid bench options. I'd throw Grealish and Henderson into the bench mix as well.

                I found it somewhat funny.

it has been oddly quiet on the Toney suspension front. Around the 1st of March it was all the talk. Now there is very little press. Feels like he is more likely to pull his 10th yellow before the FA renders its judgement.
