    How does this look

Not too different from most, Salah allows me to move on any essential midfielder in 1 transfer, 2 transfers for mid and striker upgrade, obviously defence is weak, but still 100+ points each over a season

    Steele

    Pinnock Guehi Tarkowski

    Odegaard Saka Salah Rashford Mbeumo

    Wissa Haaland

    4.0 Beyer Bell Archer

I'd downgrade one of Rashford/Ode/Saka and improve the defence, even if just a little.

I’d downgrade salah, pts per million, just not worth it - too many good mid range assets

The reason that he was essential in the past was he was the only player hitting big 200+ numbers and he was highly owned

Both are no longer true therefore the danger is gone

Majority of players will perma cap haaland so risk is actually on salah cappers

Hmm yeah I see your logic there, pretty much guaranteed 230+ which not many will get near, downgrading Salah allows me to play with defence, trouble is no-one is screaming pick me! Chelsea duo wait and sees, Trent too rich for me, city only gets you 120, 130 each max, not many stand outs

Don't you have 1m itb to upgrade 2 of the defenders? I have a similar draft. Not sure about starting Tark & Guehi every week

This is the structure I had
        4.5 / 4
        5 / 5 / 4.5 / 4 / 4
        12.5 / 9 / 8.5 / 8 / 6.5
        14 / 6 / 4.5

Aha I thought Ode was 8m also. Yes its Martinelli - not being cryptic, just quicker to type prices since we're talking structure. Its:
            Flekken
            Estupinan Gabriel Digne
            Salah Rashford Saka Martinelli Mitoma
            Haaland Wissa

Stuck with that for a long time but just now starting to tinker, consider 343, Chelsea strikers, maybe downgrade one of Rashford/Martinelli. But I expect Martinelli will start every game for the first few weeks

You're basically giving up on having a defence just to get a player in who you're going to captain only now and again.

If you're going to load up on 4.5 defs, I'd slot a Villa one in there. Good fixtures and they're going under the radar. They let in fewer goals than any other PL team in the last 15 GWs of last season.

I thought Onana was a GK who signed for Man U? He has just come on for Everton. What a great singing for Man U, so versatile and willing to build up his fitness for other teams. That is the sort of attitude Man U have been missing for close to a decade.

I haven't seen any teams with the three Arsenal midfielders, I imagine the most at risk is Martinelli in terms of minutes but I expect all three to continue doing well. Any thoughts appreciated!

    Fabianski | Areola
    Mee | Estu | Veltman | Beyer | Bell
    Martinelli | Odegaard | Saka | Bruno | Rashford
    Haaland | Watkins | Surridge

I think tripling up on one team in MID or ATT is dangerous, a sort or risk that could pay off or really could fail miserably...especially when you have 2 x £4M DEF and a Striker who is not in the league...as replacements.

Too much Arsenal and Man U in midfield has meant going without a defence. Not worth it, considering there are a lot of points to be had in defence and good value.

Hey Dags, welcome back! Pretty good thanks - weather has been nice for swimming & stuff in Oslo, mercifully spared the insane heat that some of the rest of Europe has had. How've you been?

Posted my current draft just up the page in reply to fantasyfog. That was actually the first draft I made (except Digne) when the game was released. Been doing much less summer tinkering this year; just now starting to look at maybe 343 with Jackson/Nkunku instead of Rashford/Martinelli, with some extra funds for defence. Not too set on anything yet though. Will try to watch a few more friendlies over the next couple weeks

Hey! I've been great considering man city won the treble :). Pretty nice draft! See you have Wissa over the popular mbeumo and you've chosen salah?? Brighton City rotation is so annoying for squad selection. Fpl should change their rules to get the best 11 out of the first 12 players system because many teams are having a Team B nowadays.

Yeah pretty optimistic about Salah this season & will captain GW2. Bit tricky choosing other Pool attackers at this stage. Actually just playing for an early WC (GW5). Like Wissa's fixtures to start & he's done really well in Toney's absence.

Wouldn't an early WC be risky considering we don't have 3 WCs like last year coz of the World Cup? I just feel like Diaz and Jota are the best Liverpool picks while Darwin is very high risk high reward choice. I am still trying to figure out which guys I want out of Maddison Son Nkunku and Jackson. Arsenal 2 besides Saka is very tricky. City players besides Haaland is always a dilemma. Brighton seems to be the next city considering the choice they have and De Zerbis experiments at the end of last season. Also a question, would Chilwells mins be under threat from Cucu?

I always seem to WC early anyway - feel like there's so much new info in the first few weeks & I rarely see the need to completely overhaul my team later on (WC2 last season was only 5 changes I think). Slight risk if I get massacred by injuries later but I'm kind of a compulsive risk taker & like to try get ahead early on.

Love Jota if I see him starting but I think Diaz is 1st choice LW & so much competition up top. Probably just Haaland for City for me, maybe Stones. Mitoma should be safe but rest of BHA attack is becoming tricky; might still be tempted to take a punt on Pedro or even Welbeck if I think I know who's starting (just as 2 GW placeholder for Nkunku/Jackson). Chilwell should start over Cucu when fit & looks to be playing a very advanced role in the friendlies

Yeah I keep tinkering with my draft everyday since I made the a few days ago. Only locked in Guys are the 2 bench warmers Saka and Haaland. I feel like Maddison and Son are too good to ignore but having a tough time fitting them in. I think I will just go with either Bruno if MU sign hojlund and Rashford if they don't. My earlier drafts used up all the budget with a stacked MID, but now I want to keep budget for double CHE James and Chilwell and Trippier from GW5 onwards. I wish there was more budget lol. Definitely not going to go with Salah so that I can have a nice 5 man midfield

B for the simple reason that you'd have 2 first team players as opposed to 1.

Draft number 3, how’s this looking? 0.5 ITB

    Onana (areola)
    Gabriel, Stones, Estupian (botman, beyer)

    Rashford, Bruno, saka, mitoma, foden

    Haaland, Jesus (archer)

Virtually every team I have seen as got GABRIEL in but what about SALIBA who outscored Gabriel last comparing his minutes played. When SAlLIBA got injured that was when Arsenal dropped points and one of the reasons why they didn’t win the league.

I guess I think that Gabriel is more nailed, but not averse to Saliba. Will check the pre season minutes.

That phase between the World Cup and the FA Cup SF is what he's capable of when not struggling with fatigue and that's exactly where I expect he'll pick up from

      Depends what he replicates.
He wasn't much fun to own the last few months. A bit like Jesus in the respect that he should have had far more points going by the eye test than he actually got.

I wouldn't expect consistent returns from him over the season - more bursts of productivity. The first few games are the ideal opportunity for a few returns.

    My main draft (with Salah):
    Flekken // Areola
Stones Gabriel Estupiñán Colwill // Baldock
Salah Rashford Saka Mitoma // Nakamba
    Haaland Jesus // Archer

    My no-Salah alternative:
    Onana // Areola
Trent Gabriel Estupiñán // Colwill Baldock
    Rashford Saka Foden Mitoma Mbeumo
    Haaland Jesus // Archer

    A: Salah

    Foderingham-Davies
    Baldock-Kabore-Dakhil-Beyer-Bell
    Salah-Rashford-Saka-Martinelli-Nakamba

Impeccable team if I do say so myself. All of the points will be in attack this season. I am such a genius it worries me from time to time.

How does Jesus compare to Martinelli? Jesus was essential at the start of last season. I'm currently on Jesus because of the potential move to Nkunku Jackson Gakpo Nunez

I’m steering clear of Jesus tbh as he just blocks too many potential strikers in his bracket (Gakpo, Nunez, Nkunku, Jackson etc.) whilst also blocking Arsenal mids if you want to triple up on Arsenal.

I’m currently on Martinelli and Saka.

Jesus will get more minutes and be closer to goal than Martinelli. I agree that you should cover the 8.0m forward spot, so you can move to the players you mentioned if needed.

Some of the stats people have been posting lately make it look super close between them (for xG per 90 mainly, I think). But I still feel like Jesus' early season phase was a bit of an overperformance & can't really see him hitting 200pts. But if you want a placeholder for Nkunku / Jackson GW3 I don't see any better options

If my memory serves me well, Jesus was a liability at the start of last season. I wasn't convinced about him so I didn't have him to start off with but then he hauled in GW2 or GW3 or something so I thought I was wrong and transferred him in. After that, he got the odd goal and assist just but by the time I finally had enough of him, my rank was well and truly busted.

Hehe its ok, I'm just joking....

Clearly very inexperienced & I wasn't really considering him especially Poch's quotes about taking time to settle him. But then saw the first half of the Newcastle & its very tempting to get sucked in (whether that's good/bad I don't know yet). I'm considering taking a punt on him from the start & if not I'll have a placeholder & decide on Jackson/Nkunku GW3. Nkunku has the pedigree but now I wonder if he might take longer to settle as Poch was clearly unhappy with his positioning during the water break team talk in that game

Not essential but looking a good option if Chelsea don’t sign another forward.

If continues to impress then I will probably start with him (or Nkundu if he impresses more). One reason is that if you start with Jesus you are not going to want to lose an Arsenal attacker in week 3 v Fulham. I would rather have 3 Arsenal with Chelsea forward in place for week 3, who may be good differential in weeks 1 and 2 with possible early price rises

    Hi, my first post here!

    I've assembled the following team:

    Onana - Areola
    Gabriel - Estupinan - Stones - Baldock - Beyer
    Saka - Bruno - Rashford - Foden - Nakamba
    Haaland - Jesus - Nkunku

    What do you reckon?

Two obvious downsides are: lack of Liverpool players (should I get TAA instead of say Stones?) and only one Brighton guy (I would like to get Mitoma as well for the first three GWs). Sooo... Stones+Bruno -> TAA+Mitoma? (I would need to find additional 0.5 as well, probably Nkunku -> Jackson)

    Thanks!

Exact the same as my current team except for nakamba!
I wouldnt go for TAA because I dont trust Liverpool defence and price can drop.

My only concern is how to bring in Watkins because he could do well. Are you considering him over any of your forwards?

        Great minds! 😉

Not really at the moment. Obviously one to keep eye on, but I'm usually choosing options from the traditional "Top Six" for my pre-season drafts - just to be on the safe(r) side. Also, he's got two difficult games in the first four.

Who do you have instead of Nakamba?
