            Probably not lol.

But, seriously, I find the tribal Scout vs Hub stuff a bit embarrassing at times - even from a business standpoint they’d be better off working together to expand the size of the pie rather than trying to maximise their share of a finite pie, if that make sense?

I’m just a lowly contributor though.

Welcome Sir AZ (who was knighted many a year ago), who has returned from his noble quest for subscribers in faraway lands! You are very well met and are welcome to enter the Great Hall of Shame Tourney! You will be personally greeted at the portcullis by mine sheriff, Royston Drenthe!

He and Martinelli are doing the hokey-cokey in every one of my drafts depending on if I have that 0.5m or not.

Yeah still a good pick, and I think less affected by Jesus' absence than Martinelli. Nketiah doesn't create the same spaces for Martinelli so if he starts up front today I'll try to switch Martinelli - Ødegaard

I think quite cynical. I do have a history of backing players I talk about - Mitoma last year before he was cool, Bruno G captain, Ceballos, Gross - I’ve also transferred out Salah against the grain in previous seasons, backed KDB against Haaland last year…

I mean some of those were dreadful decisions but I’d never post something like this if I wasn’t seriously debating it. But at the same time I’m not going to put myself in a corner if he puts in a stinker today and his role / start in the side is in question.

I only want him if he’s a left handed 8, and I am
99% sure that’s where Arteta wants to use him.

The issue is if he pushes him into the 9 today with Jesus out, or if Nketiah comes in and doesn’t drop deep to allow him to roam.

I’d love to see him as an 8 with Trossard up top, I think he’ll be really effective

This. Trossard’s price and quality means that if he can get regular starts he’s going to be a steal. Everyone was talking Ode down earlier but I’m worried I’m ignoring their best player. I’ve had some hauls with Havertz at Chelsea but he’s burnt me too many times to feel comfortable about picking him

Fair play. As most content creator teams seem to be the same I wondered if you were trying to be different or perhaps pretending to be. But if that’s your game then it’s to be applauded. Doing your own thing etc.

I do deliberately try and find ways to go against the template where I can - struggling this year a bit due to the fixtures of City, Arsenal, Brighton and Man U, teams almost pick themselves.

I’m annoyed Jesus got injured because I really didn’t fancy him and there was 0% chance I would have started with him. Now everyone is flocking to Watkins!

Yes, it is difficult to settle on Brighton players, other than Estu and Mitoma.
Now with Kudus, it won't be easier, although I reckon he will be a starter most games.

    3. Nate(U)dog(ie)
      • 5 Years

Problem for me is that I think he's a rotational risk but I think basically all Brighton picks are (even Mitoma now). So it's more about whether I want a risky pick that may play just a few minutes every second game but that has big upside in a very attacking team, or do I want a more settled pick that has better expected minutes but miss out on a team like Brighton?

      1. adstomko

Given that matches are now longer, I'm tempted to choose him. Can see Luton trying to grind out a 0-0, but fall short for the last 15 mins

If you're going 343 or 352 and have a weak bench, you don't want your players rotated and end up starting a 4m defender. That's my reason for taking JP out of my draft.

Tis a fair point. I'm ensuring I have a 4.5 playing def there but with me likely taking other punts (including Foden) it'll get sticky at some stage I'm sure

          Current draft is a 3-4-3:

          Martinez
          Gabriel - Saliba - Estupiñan
          Salah - Rashford - Saka - Garnacho
Haaland - Watkins - João Pedro
          (Bentley - Pau - Colwill - Nakamba)

Pau & Colwill can be used from GW2, if Garnacho/JP don't look like starters after GW1

Alvarez more likely to score than any Brighton player or Foden or Grealish. Estu I'm being stubborn on, too highly owned and fixtures diminish rapidly.

Whenever Pro Pundits write and share an article about their team, I can't help but feel that it's basically a longer RMT with an explanation, but with way more feedback. People can criticize you, but at least you're getting a lot of replies, reactions, and opinions.

They’re quite easy to write and actually quite helpful (at east I find them to be!) to help rationalise decisions.

My hope with them is always to hopefully give a few things that people may not be totally aware of (maybe a few will at least briefly consider Havertz, was everyone aware of Mitoma’s 3% conversion).

I realise they can be a little self indulgent but they do get a good response generally speaking, so I think they compliment the other excellent by Neale, Tom and the team quite well by adding a bit of a human touch

Not sure who you are referring to but I can assure you that whatever team / decisions i write about are genuine dilemmas.

Havertz’s best seasons were playing as a 10/second striker in the Bundesliga 5 seasons ago.

I don’t agree that his best position is as a central midfielder (how many times has he actually played as an 8?) and it’s never as simple as “Xhaka did well there so Havertz will too.”

As a strategy to get a decent, steady start before WC about GW6/7 what do you guys think?

    Pickford-Areola
    Estupian-Gabriel-(Baldock-Beyer-4.0)
    Saka-Salah-Ode-Mbuemo-Rashford
    Haaland-4.5-Wissa

This involves playing one 4m defender for a few weeks but I'm ok with that

My thinking is to have boots on the field until the dust settles and we have solid knowledge of lineups and and who emerges/performs

This allows me to use transfers for actually improving the team instead of putting out fires...

Granted, Everton are poor but Pickford is there for saves and hopefully bonus

One advantage of having Salah is that if sold he quickly releases plenty of money to use getting anyone else in (ok possibly but not necessarily for a 4 point hit)

Great midfield. The strategy in defence is not my preference but might work- I’d prefer more balance to get points across the pitch and allow changes but it seems there’s some reasonable 2pt 4.0 punts. I’d want to see Brentford in action before doubling up

My thoughts on the Salah draft (still undecided if I'll go there) is to limit the number of Changs to my non-salad draft as much as possible i.e. the less differences throughout the rest of the squad the better. I have got it down to being weak in one position. A 4.5. mid rather than an 8 million mid. Elliot Anderson instead of Martinelli an then Salah take Bruno's place

As a Utd fan I'm hoping the scouts know what they're doing on this occasion but I really don't know. From what I of know, I like his confidence and from the little footage there is (which I acknowledge is not a sounds basis for predicting success) he looks very talented. I guess Wayne Rooney had only scored a similar number of goals for Everton (I think - I should probably have checked this before posting) the season before joining Utd at a young age and he did okay, though he had played in the premier league rather than different league. I also like the fact that he is a unto fan but if he is a flop that would be scant consolation

How can he be consistent when he's hardly ever had a consistent run of games in the last couple of years? The best run he had last year was 6 games in a row, and even then he played the equivalent of less than 5 games due to getting subbed early. The season before that his best run was 3 games.

    A) Salah + Mitoma + Shaw
    B) Fernandes + Odegaard + Watkins

A is better imo as better flexibility for transfers. Watkins price point is awkward

Not seen any mention of Richarlison, am I missing something?
I gather Lo Celso is looking good pre-season + the uncertainty over Kane although seems a bargain at 7.0 if fit.

No point even thinking about Spurs until we see Kane boarding that Lufthansa.

He'll play for Spurs. Conscious of that I still have Son!

How is Odegard looking in preseason? Playing deeper than last season or the same?

He's looking great and attack minded in the heat maps.

Though obviously covering more ground behind Saka etc.

Thankyou very much. I have been toying between Odegard, Saka and Martinelli. Even have left Saka out in many drafts.
