Reece James tripled up on Liverpool players for their match on Sunday - it's just crazy players think that's a good idea?

So long as there's no money leagues involved there's nothing crazy about it.

This bit being published for click bait might not help him?

Selecting his side for Gameweek 1, which included his club's fixture against Liverpool, James didn't select a single teammate but did put Alexis Mac Allister, Mohammed Salah and Darwin Nunez into his starting XI.

    Hello all,

Worries about Jotas minutes aftet his not so great performance on first gameweek.

Does it makes sense to move him to mbeumo/diaby/maddison this gameweek?

Don’t think you should move him before Bournemouth game, even if he doesn’t start he’ll come on with a good chance of getting returns.

I'm holding him for a week. He looked poor but he should get some minutes against Bournemouth. Even if it's off the bench, he has the capacity to score. Gives me another week to look at Maddison.

I'm holding for at least this week - he's not going to drop in price.

If he's poor again, it's an easy swap to Maddison or someone else in that bracket.

Last Man Standing GW1 (1797 teams)

    Safety score = 62
Top score = Dom Richards with BB scored 106

88 teams eliminated, 1709 teams through to GW2.
Will probably open LMS entry for a couple of 30 minute bursts during the week to collect about 50-100 new entries.

Congrats to all the survivors! 🙂

Gabriel's move to Saudi Arabia is not happening unless they offer something ridiculous in the region of £100 million. He has a contract until 2027, and it has to be a FO price if they are about to sell him so late in the window. If someone is prepared to pay him 10 times more than Arsenal are per week (£100,000) for doing the same thing at a much lower level, it may turn his head, and there's nothing you can do about it. A lot of players have said they loved the club, but some left for better salaries, among other reasons.

He's going nowhere as long as this type of silly money doesn't get involved. That's for sure.

Makes me laugh when fans make statements like this as if they work for the club. Arsenal would shake hands for much less than £100m, especially if they think he's going to become problematic (which he definitely would if you think someone's willing to offer him £1 million a week in wages)

I'm not pretending that I work for the club, but the scaremongering since his benching is insane, and it escalated with the transfer rumors.

Saudi clubs have the money; just look at their summer's signings. So why would Arsenal let their starting CB go for "just" £70m if they could get much more for him, and when they know they can't get a similar replacement for a reasonable price at the end of August? It's not like the transfer market is full of good left-footed center backs, and we aren't in June or July. I'm just saying that if I were in charge, I would sell him for less if we could have signed a ready-made replacement and a defender like Gvardiol a month ago. But right now, it makes no sense to even discuss the transfer.

        1. x.jim.x
          • 11 Years

Saudi clubs have hardly been breaking the bank on transfer fees. The majority of signings have been free agents or minimal fees - the only one that really stands out is £40m for Fabinho, but that's understandable considering he was Liverpool's only DM, and Neymar for €100m, which again is understandable.

My point is if the player gets an offer like that, it's very difficult to turn down and very quickly you've got a problematic player in the dressing room. Gabriel is hardly Mr. Arsenal and he's already been dropped this season, so let's not pretend he would immediately dismiss a move away.

We were happy letting Maguire go for £30m.

      3. Arteta
        • 10 Years

Don't act like you would sell them Maguire for peanuts, who isn't ever your starter anymore, if you knew there was a possibility of getting much more money for him than you'd expected at the start. And how much would you demand for Shaw or Martinez? A lot.

Massive benching headache this week, who should I bench from mids/attackers? Currently got Mbeumo on the bench

    Onana (Johnstone)
    Chilwell, Gabriel, Estupiñánm (Botman) (Kaboré)
    Martinelli, Saka, Mitoma, Rashford (Mbeumo)
    João Pedro, Watkins, Haaland

I actually fancy Brentford's chances to score more goals at Fulham, than Brighton at Wolves.

So as good as Pedro is, I'd bench him or Mitoma ahead of Mbeumo.

Strong first XI and cheap but playing replacements ( Turner - Baldock - Chukwuemeka - Osula ) at the moment.

This way you dont have headache before the deadline, and second headache after when you choose wrong 🙂

The competition for the number one spot starts today. Ramsdale has the advantage for now, but things can change quickly. Raya will work harder than ever in training sessions to become a starter, and hopefully it will push Aaron to do the same. I'm pleased with this signing, and they've done it just in time before other clubs needed a new goalkeeper.

“I can’t wait to be out there training with the lads and getting that GK union going. That’s a tight group that we’re always going to get along and push each other, so that’s going to be a healthy group in my opinion. I just can’t wait to get going and meet the lads. One of the challenges is to get used to the style and the patterns, and get to know the players as soon as possible to get that bond from the beginning. Knowing the players and the staff, I think they’re going to put me in the right direction and I’ll fit in straight away.”

If justice existed, Wolves would get a penalty, Hwang would take it, hit the post, but then the ball bounced into goal out of Onana's arse. He would end the game with OG (-2) and YC (-1) for a foul, which means 1 point.

Estupinan is the obvious one. For 4.5m, Henry.

The squad is looking strong, but I would rather have Saka and Maddison instead of Diaz and Richarlison.

Sanchez at 4.5 is decent value for a GK. Would mean double Chelsea defence but you would think with Caicedo in there that their defence will be much improved.

    Current backline:

    Stones, Gabriel, Chilwell, Kabore, Baldock

Any thoughts on shipping one of Stones or Gabriel out? Thinking either Stones --> Estu or Gabriel --> Saliba?
    Maybe save FT?

    Cheers!

You have to wait for the press conferences. Stones may be a bigger issue than Gabriel.

It's a bit worrisome with Stones + Gabriel but I think they'll see starts with the Timber injury and Stones recovering

Who is the best KDB replacement?

    1. Diaz
    2. Foden
    3. Maddison
    4. Rashford

remains to be seen honestly. Diaz has the plum fixture so based on his opponent, I like the upside short term. Long term we'd need to see more

Would you do Rashford to Salah(c) for free for GW2?

Left 3.5 in the bank for any upgrades. Not necessarily for Salah but considering it now.

Not crazy about losing Rashford but wondering if the upside is too high this GW

Leaves 0m in the bank and obviously uses a FT

Rashford will feast against that Spurs high-line

My question would be....What did you save the 3.5m for, if it wasn't for this kind of move?

The Spurs game might be tailor-made for Rashford but I think I would do it.

I downgraded Martinelli and Trippier before the deadline. Saw the 3.5 in the bank which was more than I imagined. Salah for Rashford was only a slight possibility but after seeing how angry Salah was, I think Salah (c) is a great way to start the season highly

    gtg or lose Cash?
Villa looked terrible defensively after Mings injury but it's Everton so I'm inclined to give him another week
Also might still play Onana over Turner still but currently that's the team

    Turner
    Chilwell Estupinan Saliba Cash
    Salah Rashford Saka Eze
    Haaland Jackson

He's done well against Everton in the past (esp. at villa park) so I'd give him another week. Villa's defence capitulated because of the Mings injury but they will have had a week of training to sort it out.

Good to hold for another week and then be able to carry 2 FTs going forward?

    Onana

    Estu/Gabriel/Chilly

    Rash/Saka/Odegaard/Foden

    Haaland/Jackson/Pedro

    Turner/Eze/Baldock/Rico

Looks like Chelsea are making a transfer. Some broken thing from Palace. Activating the £35m release clause now.

If you're including in that ones that are almost certain to leave and thers that have been loaned out then yes.

Thoughts on what to do with Timber? My starting 11 is good without him. Defence will be TAA, Chilwell and Estupinan. He likely drops in price soon

    Chelsea set to sign Olise

So why did they sign Madueke?

Dunno but Olise is quality. I'm thinking Watkins -> Jackson GW3.

Will be a very popular transfer and will be a transfer every Watkins owner makes if he blanks against Everton

I would probably do it even if Watkins braces in that game. Luton just looked so bad defensively against Brighton.

So annoyed about Olise, know he had the release clause but how many players do Chelsea actually need? Spending over £900million how is that staying with FFP? The game is gone.
