Forest were lucky to get that win in the end, in game they should have won much easier.
They really need to work at defending and attacking corners. That should be the bread and butter stuff. Especially with players like Gibbs-White and Boly/Awoniyi.

Every time there was a Sheffield corner it was panic stations, and every time Forest had their own corner it was wasted.
I think one of the commentators said Forest only scored from one corner all of last season.

Is Onana a loose cannon? Is he a yellow/red card magnet? Are we likely to see another rush of blood to his head? Just looks like he could make reckless decisions under high pressure.

I think all GKs are far more likely than ever to get cards than before due to new regulations. Onana's style of play (sweeping along with giving defence licence to hold a higher line) will inevitably mean he's at more risk of getting caught out than someone like DDG

      1. Andy_Social

Keepers are more likely to get yellows for time-wasting if they linger over goal kicks.

He is probably the coolest goalkeeper in the world under pressure. It's the cool of the other defenders around him handling his dodging and last second passes that id be worried about

I really want Jackson in for gameweek 3.
I need to squeeze out 1M to upgrade J.Pedro and 2M for Osula (Currently 0.5M ITB)
    Johnstone Turner
    Chilwell Estupinan Saliba R.Lewis Kabore
    Salah Saka Rashford Eze Mitoma
    J.Pedro Haaland Osula

    A) Eze --> P.Neto, then JP -->
    B) Eze --> 4.5, then Osula -->
    C) Saliba --> Gusto, then JP -->

Leaning towards C, because doubling on the Chelsea defence looks promising with these coming fixtures.
    Any thoughts / alternatives?

Raga if you're here or see this. On your site, the transfer planner is allowing me to sell players at their buy-value not their sell-value.

      Example
      - Chilwell is 5.6M to sell
      - Estu is 5.1M to sell
      - Saka is 8.6M to sell
      - Luis Diaz is 7.6M to sell

If anyone see's Raga later please let him know?

I think Man United defence is where to go - much more United's strength than attack IMO - especially given the new signings which seem to have disrupted United a bit.
I would give Rashford one more week though as they face Forest next.
I am looking a Shaw/Onana double up when the fixtures go on a nicer run for United.

True but it unlikely that they will be that poor again against the weaker sides/middle of the road sides. I think Ten Hag tried to be too clever using Shaw inverted etc.

Newcastle United last beat Man City in Manchester 23 years ago ... when Shearer scored the winner in a 0-1 victory.

Man City have only lost twice in about 35 games home and away, in the league and cup.

Even a draw is a strong result tonight.

I think in your case, if you already have Chilwell then wait on doing Gabriel to another Che defender until they have played on Sunday to see if they are sticking to a back 3, changing to a back 4 and which defensive assets start. If you do not have Chilwell, then get him.

Unless of course your team need a clear out following a bench boost which included three Palace players and double Arsenal defence - Saliba/Gabriel?
I wildcarded set the team up nicely going forwards and got a lot of price rises happy enough.

In theory yes - but I already got one decision wrong. I also have zero Brighton - and zero Man United. Which are the two that could hurt me. Besides that it looks OK on paper.

I was going through the Forest outfield options on the wildcard.
I knew I wanted one - considered Awoniyi but instead decided that Jackson/Alvarez were far better long term options at similar prices.

I even considered Aurier (seriously) but decided he was not attacking enough - liable to get a yellow.

So I went with what I thought was the safest pick Gibbs-White on pens/corners - plus allowed more options to 'jump off' given his 6m price tag.

        • 13 Years

That was me. Palace don't need a clear out - they're a good team. I knew Salah was a good player and knew full well I could not get him in. Nothing has changed.

I think we are talking at cross purposes.I was referring to the fact I had three Palace which was way to much considering the other options. I am not saying the Palace options are poor in themselves. Eze for example could be great value if he drops in price and people keep ignoring him.

No, I'm just saying I see it differently. I’m happy with my triple Palace defence as they're good for more than just the GW1BB. Having said that, my initial transfers may involve losing 2 of them for Chelsea assets, but that's because Chelsea look unexpectedly good - and are the same price.

  26. The Big Fella

I have Haaland and Salah but captained the former. My logic was that if Salah hauls I will still make big rank gains as his EO is around 50% and by captaining Haaland I am protecting myself against him hauling and everybody else in the game getting those points

    1. Percy Johnstone
      • 4 Years
      2 years, 6 months ago

But if you spread the Salah money around a few others you would increase your chances of hauling. Don't see point in investing so much if you will never captain him.

      1. The Big Fella
        • 9 Years
        2 years, 6 months ago

This is rubbish. It made sense in the past when premiums were evenly spread. Now everybody has Haaland and that’s it so his EO is 180-190% and any other premiums have such a low EO you still derive benefit from them hauling. In the past Kane Salah et al all had similar EO so who you captained out of them made a difference. My midfield is amazing and pretty template and I have 3 5m defenders. I am unsure where I would spend the additional money except to perhaps upgrade Joao Pedro but I think he is a good pick independent of his price anyway.

    2. FOO FIGHTER
      • 6 Years

Whichever way, owning both is a major plus if both haul irrespective of who you capped.

Newcastle defence Vs Burnley defence is what it will all come down to.

Not owning a hauling Salah is where the problem lies, especially if he is capped by others.

Yeah I agree. Salah may actually have the advantage because Newcastle are the better opposition and I think City are missing their departed/injured players. Even so, Haaland just needs one chance to score. So clinical.

They’re both two of the best players in the league and could both score the most points this week. That’s why there was such a big debate about who to captain. Besides that, EO matters.

I think he will do alright seems on form - if he starts would probably want a goal and assist from him and more points than Salah/Haaland gets. Tough ask.

I remember last season I captained Trippier clean sheet an assist max bonus, delighted. Later Haaland played and still outscored Trippier! I lost out overall.
