Conor Gallagher being linked with Spurs. Going to be a crazy ending to this transfer window.

      37 hours till it closes.

You'd think most clubs would resist unless they want to move a player on.

Using my WC - straight into a defensive benching headache.

    Flekken (Turner)
    Tripper Chilwell Gvardiol (Henry) (Udogie)
    Saka Maddison Sterling Mbeumo Bowen
    Haaland Jackson (Semenyo)

Any different suggestions for benching (or for the team - I'm not locked yet!). Bowen becomes Bruno or Foden next week

  4. We Go Again

Haaland has made the game boring. Nailing the captain choices every week was always one of my favourite aspects of FPL because it would result in big swings, but going against 91% ownership is just way too risky these days. One big haul and you're left in the dust

This week I’m not considering anyone else, but next week when he faces West Ham away I will strongly consider other options.

There were times last year, particularly in away games, that people were rewarded for moving off him temporarily.

Oh there's no doubt that you can be rewarded for going against the flow. I just mean that this year in particular getting it wrong punishes you way more severely than it did in the past.

2pts and 4pts in the last two games is hardly punishing.

I agree that it’s taken a lot of the magic out of FPL in fear of being buried one week.

I used to make quite a few punty captain picks but Haaland has seen to that.

Capping him makes no difference to your rank, it helps out your points. That is the problem.

There is nothing stopping you from betting against Haaland.

All you lose is the difference in points between Haaland and the player you chose instead. That should free you to take a few more risks imo.

Apparently that injury occurred in a subsequent training session by a few accounts.

Been lots of training ground injuries after a reasonable summer break.

I wouldn't read too much on Sterling's absence from the cup. Poch probably thought that Chelsea had enough quality to win the game without him.

He could have been left out either due to a rest, or the fact there were developments in a court case related to his house being burgled.

      https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/aug/30/man-charged-burglary-of-raheem-sterlings-surrey-home

Not sure that he was at court, but very realistic he might beeft out given due to the distraction/real life dealings.

Agree! Pricing is terrible this year that’s why I have a strong bench. I haven’t taken a hit this year, spreader the cash with my initial squad however have left points on the bench each week! I sense that will be the case again this week.

    Gvardiol, Chilwell, Estup
    Mbeumo, Saka, Marti, Bruno, Mitoma
    Watkins, Haaland

    (Turner, Henry, Baldock, Mabuma)

Everyone on here is chasing last week’s big midfield points. Wouldn’t be surprised if Marti or Mitoma outscore Sterling and Maddison this week - there are a whole load of similarly priced mids in the game all capable of hauling.

Do people even watch the matches, or at least the highlights? The answer is yes, and it doesn't matter if sometimes he's playing deeper. Odegaard is creating chances for himself as well as others and should have gotten more points so far. Returns will come.

    2. Saka Punch

He's definitely played a bit deeper so far this year to my eye, and has been getting into the box less - however as you say if we play last years formation (with Zinchenko and Gabriel coming in) I'd expect him to be bit more dangerous again. Obviously no guarantee Arteta goes back to that sadly

So, I'm on a WC. I usually like to play it quite safe, but I'm seriously thinking about going with Nunez. Obviously it's a gamble, but if Klopp doesn't give him a run of starts now, when wil he ever? I think it's the perfect time to use the momentum and start Nunez. What do people think, Nunez to start at the weekend? I think he'll start, but that's just my guess.

    Areola Turner
    Chilwell Estupinan Gvardiol Gusto Kabore
    Salah Saka Sterling Mbeumo Sarr
    Haaland Alvarez Nunez

I will leave money in the bank so I can get in either one of Isak and Jesus (or someone else) for Nunez or Alvarez, even both. 1.6m itb.
Obviously keeping an eye out for any Sterling/Salah news.

Which option? I have Bruno and Saka too btw.

    A) Martinelli > Sterling
    B) Rash > Sterling
    C) Watkins > Jackson

Easily A. However, I’d wait for news on Sterling since he wasn’t in last night’s squad.

    Bruno, Mbeumo, Foden.

    Pick two on a wildcard.

Bruno and Mbeumo. Pen takers are guaranteed at least 80 mins a match

I think Foden is only for the short term. With new City incoming & UCL post-International Break he'll probably cause annoyances again.

Mbeumo is a long term hold (that I still don't have, eek!)

Bruno... Up to you. Either have him or go with Foden for now and switch a tad later?

Mitoma to Mbuemo? Mitoma to Sterling? Roll?

352 the way to go with the abundance of midfielders available and the ridiculous prices.

Is Rashford -> Foden for a -4 a bit silly?

    Which transfers to do?

    A) Sterling+Maddison (Mitoma+Martinelli out)

    B) Sterling+Udogie (Martinelli+Tarkowski out)

    C) Maddison+Udogie (same as B)

    D) Maddison+Sterling+Udogie -4 (Mitoma+Martinelli+Tarkowski out)

So you have 3 playable defenders? If so then A. If not then B but I think I'd go for Mbuemo over both of those if you don't already have him.

        My defenders are, Estu-Saliba-Chilwell-Tarkowski-Baldock.

If I do A I'm playing Tarkowski with Estu and Chilwell this GW.

Thanks. But I actually forgot Mbuemo... might go for him, so many midfielders and so little space.

Bit of a benching headache this week. Current team:
    Flekken
    Chill - Walker - Udogie
    Mbeumo- Saka - Rash- Diaz
    Wissa-Haaland-Watkins
    (Steele-Estu-Mitoma-Baldock)
Bad idea benching Estu and Mito?
