was looking for a 4mil defenders and see Tavares has been priced @ 4mil (bit odd given Aina is 4.5). Surely he's been brought in to start? Had a decent season with Marseille and very attacking

Yes, but he is one of 4-5 fullbacks Forest have brought in to start

for sure a lot of signings, but out of Aurier/Aina/Montiel/Tavares, Tavares is the only left footed one; that's a big plus imo for his gametime potential, and in a wing back position Tavares defensive issues are less notable

Very true, but they also wouldn't bring four right backs. As in they were intended to compete for LB as well. All I'm saying is I'd love you to be correct but not so straightforward in my view

Tavares is 4.0 because he started as an Arsenal defender with no hope of starting a game.

People saying Southgate is the best manager England have had goes to show the state of the English team for years. I don't support England, but still think they need to aim higher and look for someone better than Southgate.

Totally agree. Safegate is truly awful! TBH I’m really not fussed by England (mainly coz of the succession of boring, dour, safety first managers last 20+ years) but it’s a shame as this is such a talented generation; saka kane Foden Bellingham etc.

People go on about starting Maguire when he can't get into the United lineup, but we could say the same about McTominey. And he can't stop scoring for us.

The trouble with Scott is his best position is in Bruno role which he’s never gonna get in (and rightly so). So he’s played CDM which he’s bang average at. Not just fault he’s played out of position for Utd but at the same time where is his desire to start every week? He could’ve gone West Ham/Fulham and played every week but decided instead to sit on the bench. No respect for him at all

Look at the sides we went out to under him - 2002 Brazil and Portugal’s golden generation twice (on pens). Squad depth was awful and we never collapsed like we did against Italy, even when we had a red in 2006 with the squad past its best.

"Navigating these continental nights is easy for him, so Ollie Watkins (£8.0m) should still be safe for starts. Perhaps the same can’t quite be said for either Matty Cash (£4.7m) or Moussa Diaby (£6.6m)."

Is there precedence for this with Diaby? He started 3 games in a row within 8 days (2 PL games with the ECL 1st leg in between) and seemed to have no issues

    1. krawiecus
      • 4 Years
      2 years, 2 months ago

The main reason I'd mention I think would be there is much more room for maneuver for Emery in Diaby's position. But I doubt either of Watkins/Diaby will be rotated more than twice in PL because of Europe, barring injuries

      1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
        • 5 Years

How many other players can play as a second striker at Villa? I would have thought with Buendia out it's basically just Zaniolo (who has a wretched injury record)?

    2. Haa-lala-land
      • 5 Years
      2 years, 2 months ago

If I remember then Zaniolo wasn't ready and Bailey was injured during the cup, so necessity may have forced Diaby to play consecutively. I could easily be wrong and he could have Bruno levels of durability

Is "it's good to wildcard during an international break" the reason why people are talking about wildcarding before GW 9 instead of 8. The fixture swing looks to be happening in GW 8 to me.

Need to look out for when teams in the Europa League and Conference League have an away fixture and immediately have an away league game following it. This has a negative impact on the results and the performances for those involved in Europe despite whatever rotation the coaches do between games. For example: Villa away to Legia Warsaw on 21st September and then away to Chelsea on the 24th. This makes this a better fixture for Chelsea ( No Europe) than might otherwise have been the case.
