I might end up buying Maguire for the second time this season. Not something I thought I'd be saying

First time for me and it feels like a dangerous move but the fixture run is hard to ignore and he is cheap!

      Same here.
      Enables me to buy salah.
Has a good fixture in gw26.
Happy to bench him for everyplace moving forward.
He got me three consecutive cleansheets last time and a few price rises.

    Would appreciate some advice please.

    Trippier, Gabriel, Estupinan, Doughty
    Foden, Jota, Gordon, Gross
    Haaland, Watkins

    Areola, Solanke, Palmer, TAA

    A) Roll transfer?
    B) Sell TAA now for Udogie/Villa def?
    C) Sell Palmer to Rodri and play him instead of Doughty?

    Best move here?

    A) Porro -> DOUGHTY/KONATE
    B) Porro & Gordon -> VIRGIL/ROBBO & BARKLEY (-4)
    C) Save FT

Doughty & Barkley doubling 25 & 28 and likely playing 29 is attractive. Can currently get 11 in 26 (Porro, Palmer, Darwin bench)

    Areola
    Gabriel, Estupinan, Porro
    KDB, FODEN, Saka, Gordon
    HAALAND, DARWIN, Watkins

    Turner, Palmer, Burn, Taylor
    Bank 0.1m, 1FT

      or save FT

    Best option?
    A) Save FT
    B) Porro > Gabriel
    C) Areola > Flekken/Kaminski

    Martinez
    Porro / Trippier / Estupinan
    Saka / KDB / Foden / Palmer / Jota
    Darwin / Haaland

    Bench: Areola, Bell, Archer, Lascelles.

Look a bit vulnerable with the people chasing my in ML having both Jota & Foden.

If you could only have 1, who would you go with this week? Foden makes it easier for 26

Good article and I basically agree with his conclusion that this should only ever be a secondary factor, but I think it slightly misses a key point. He says:

"Naturally, it makes sense to avoid pitting our attackers against our defenders at the same time, as it lowers our routes to scoring points."

But it's also true that playing players against one another also lowers the chance of totally blanking. In the example above it's likely that either Watkins will score OR Dubravka will get a CS, so the impact of playing them both is you're more likely to get a middling score from them.

To generalise, the impact of playing players against one another is not that it reduces expected points, it's that it reduces volatility in those points. So it's more about risk/ reward. In some circumstances you might even do this on purpose (e.g. to sit on a mini league lead)

Think I have narrowed it down to 2 options:
    A) Palmer & TAA > Bradley & Foden - 4
    B) As above > Ake & Jota - 4

Both mean I can get to 11 in GW26 with 1FT, however B means I wouldn't have enough in the bank to get to Salah in one move in GW27

If you have KDB I prefer Jota over Foden

        I do indeed have KDB.

        Current team:
        Dubravka
        Porro / TAA / Estupinan
        Saka / KDB / Richarlison / Lewis-Potter
        Haaland / Watkins / Darwin

Areola / Palmer / Van Hecke / Tosin

How many players will you be happy with in gw29. I'm thinking 8 or 9 as it stands. I refuse to blow my FH on it .

I currently have 2 and potentially 3. If I have to make my next 5 transfers all about GW29, undoubtedly this will come at an opportunity cost in the weeks before (and probably after too). Playing my FH as much as Id rather not makes more sense and certainly isnt 'blowing it' as the benefit of playing it then will be accrued not only that week but in the weeks before and after also.

9 maximum unless Leeds turn Chelsea over. Will only be missing players in defense hopefully and will have the main attacking picks. I can live with that. FH in one of the doubles has far higher points potential. Hoping loads blow their FH in 29.

why waste energy on this now, nothing is concrete yet

      1. Yozzer

But we do have games that are confirmed and they could very likely be the one game plus one more so it's not wasting energy. It's planning using what we already know which could in turn save an important chip for more upside

Got 1 FT, 0.7 ITB and only 3 players from City/Pool for the DGW (Haaland, KDB & Darwin). What would you do here?

    A) Richarlison to Doku for free
    B) Richarlison to Foden, Estu to Gomez -4
    C) Estu to Ake for free
    D) Save FT
