    Definitely want Haaland in for captaincy. Do I take a -4 to get Johnson in too?

    1) Watkins + Salah ---> Haaland + McNeil

    2) Watkins + Saka + Salah ---> Haaland + Johnson + Foden -4

    3) Watkins + Saka + TAA ---> Haaland + Johnson + 4m def -4

    4) Watkins + Salah + TAA ---> Haaland + Johnson + 6.6m def (Gab?) -4

    1. HelmutCool
      • 3 Years

      Wouldnt take a -4 to transfer either Saka or TAA out.

      When you see the options like that on paper you realise how much of a drain on resources Haaland is. You have to lose least at least 2 of the best players in the game for him. I'd go for 1 probably as you're sacrificing less good assets to make it happen and no hit.

      Yeah, the -4 is off putting to take out a premium. And is Johnson and Foden going to score 4 more than Saka and McNeil?

    Am I the only who thinks that national teams should have managers as well as players who are actually from the country they are representing? Nothing against Tuchel as he will probably do a decent job but in my opinion, as he is not English, he should not have been given that position. It’s like England have sold out yet again and admitted they don’t have any talent of their own. There is absolutely no chance an Englishman would even get the job of being Germany manager.

    Maybe England should bring some German players in too as they are also better than their English counterparts. Where do we draw the line.

        I was kinda being rhetorical with that comment.

        1. Bihom
          • 1 Year
          1 year, 4 months ago

          Sure but then you can ask how far do you draw the line the other way? Suppose the manager had to be English. Do you then mandate that all backroom staff and support/admin staff should be English?

          For international managers it's their full-time job whereas for the England players it's basically a volunteer gig. So doesn't feel right to put restrictions on nationality for any type of staff.

      I want the best man (or woman) for the job, same as any job. Tuchel is infinitely better than any Englishman imo.

      Sadly I am a very German person. My ancestors are all German and I have lived in Germany my whole life. But I am an England fan. During the European Championships, I was personally present at six Three Lions games. I would prefer it a thousand times if England will win the World Cup and not Germany. I would also fine if half of the German team played for England. I would not care.

      I do not like Thomas Tuchel. Sometimes he seems arrogant. Many players from the Mainz team (his first professional position or his first job in the Bundesliga) have reported that he bullied them and that they only have the worst things to say about him. But he probably will not dare to bully the Three Lions players.

      But I have seen several interviews with him and he said that it would be a great honor for him to become the national coach of England and you could really see that he really wanted the job. I have absolutely no doubt that he will give his full commitment and enthusiasm. Apparently he likes England as much as I do.

      In that sense, he is not the first foreign coach for the Three Lions. Sven Goran Eriksson (hopefully there is a heaven and he is there) and Fabio Capello have also coached the Three Lions. But a German is a little unusual.

        That’s nice to hear. I had a German mate back at uni god knows how many years ago and he was of the same opinion. Really didn’t like the German setup and preferred English. That was the days of Klinsmann et al (late 90’s).

        It’s also nice to hear from some non Brits that we are actually liked outside of England as we do have a somewhat tarnished reputation (when we boo other teams national anthems for example we really don’t do ourselves any favours (that is the minority but still very embarrassing to be English when that happens as shows complete lack of respect))

        Still would have preferred Howe or Potter but there you go. Maybe I am in the minority but football is a game of opinions and that happens to be mine.

        Nope. As I say, maybe I am in the minority, I would just rather have an English coach for an English team. No problem at all having non English coaches for domestic football, but the whole point of international football is countries testing their wits against other countries.

        That said, I really do think if we had had a better (ideally English) manager in the summer we could have win that tournament. Southgate way too negative and team tactics and player choice not great either.

            I mean they couldn’t have annoyed me more when they beat us in Euro 96 (as our name was on that cup!) but no not anti anyone really just would have liked English manager. Have a few German mates too (for context).

      I really hope that Tuchel gets the job. Tuchel is scorpy with the media at the best of times and it would make for great viewing when he clashes with the press when England inevitably implode - and they will implode!

      I tend to agree with u. A country like England should really have an English manager. What if its Germany vs England in a world cup or euros semifinals or final? Yes Tuchel will be professional but it's still a conflict of interest and he may secretly not mind Germany winning. Besides england and Germany have been rivals thruout history in football. Tuchel is an odd choice. He flopped at Bayern too last season. Other than winning the 2021 champions league with chelsea somewhat surprisingly think he is overrated

      I don’t agree

      His ego means he couldn’t distance from the club and let them move on. This is the opposite with Wenger and Arsenal, with Wenger keeping his distance

        I genuinely think they are making very illogical decisions and I find it quite amusing to highlight it. Two things that I dislike are corporate w*nkers and United. I'm obviously going to comment! We've talked before about this and my opinion is that football clubs are not like the other businesses that RATcliffle has taken over and cut costs. Spirit, tradition and soul is a HUGE part of a club!

              Group chats.

              It’s also quite funny to write “He has enough money and is above retirement age” and then complain about an 82 year old losing a £2m per year salary for doing zero

                Haha, fair enough, Sir Alex is doing zero and earning 2m but RATcliffe is above retirement age and making disgusting moves for society in general and I'm not just referring to cancelling Fergie's contract. I'd rather earn money for doing nothing than earn money for being a ruthless lowlife!

        I also find it amusing that a billionaire who is very ruthless by all accounts is setting himself up to fail. He has enough money and is above retirement age, what has he got to prove except to sooth his ego!

    A) Saka, Vardy, Delap. 0.5mil
    B) Johnson, Vardy, Havertz. 1.3mil
    C) Semenyo, Solanke, Havertz. 0.4mil

    Delap, Johnson or Solanke would be the new transfer alongside Lewis and Mbeumo for a -4.

      C, but not sure Semenyo is the best pick at that price

        Yea I already own him so it’s an essentially a question of whether I move him on or Vardy along with either Saka or Havertz. Vardy better fixtures of course but Semenyo certainly the form player.

      Do they have 537 or 528 points?
      There are about 193 clones on 537 points in the overall standings that have made identical moves all season
      (Gameweek scores 64, 103, 94, 55, 76, 68 and 77)
      and about 226 on 528 points that have also made identical moves all season
      (Gameweek scores 64, 103, 87, 54, 75, 68 and 77).

          One of the clones in 1,573rd position on 528 points is content creator FPLtips, and it is suspected that he is publicising his every move as soon as he makes it and that the rest of the clones in that position are copying him.

          The clones in 449th position on 537 points may be copying someone or something else.

          There are also many teams with pretty similar but slightly different Gameweek histories in the top 2,000, but at least they have managed to deviate a bit from the major clones.

          There are 1,717 clones of this team altogether in the top million, but not all of these have been identical from the start, and some of them may simply have followed a popular template for their Gameweek 6 Wildcards.

        Does Camzy play in the Ireland league? I can't remember the other clones' name last year, but it was entertaining. Kept popping up in the thread every time Camzy mentioned him.

          FPL Raptor's team was cloned many times last year (or was it earlier?), but I don't know whether or not he was the one that Camzy mentioned.
          It is possible that some of these might have been his own multiple teams, since many of them were removed by FPL following complaints.

            As far as I remember, they did not all have identical Gameweek Histories, but many of them started off the same and then varied later.
