After some deliberation between the Scout experts, we’re now able to reveal our Fantasy EFL(FEFL) Team of the Season for 2024/25.

Given the popularity, we had to use the 1-3-2-1 formation.

This isn’t the highest scorers, which has already been covered on our site, or the end-of-season awards voted for by managers.

Instead, we look at some cult heroes of the season, and names to keep an eye on as we approach 2025/26.

Newly-promoted Premier League sides (Leeds United, Burnley, Sunderland) and their assets, such as James Trafford (G) and Junior Firpo (D), are excluded as they won’t be in the game next season. Their names will be available on FPL shortly!

Equally, we’ll be doing a Play-Off Team of the Tournament, so some specific names will be saved…

Goalkeeper

Michael Cooper (G) kept 23 shutouts and made 118 saves in 46 matches for Sheffield United, including two in the play-offs against Bristol City. The 25-year-old was the second-highest scoring keeper on the game, securing 247 points for his efforts.

Fantasy EFL Double Gameweek 14 Top Picks: Sunday 1

He was a defensive linchpin for the Blades, playing a key role in securing the division’s third-best defensive record. His £2 million move from Plymouth Argyle now looks like an absolute steal after a breakout season. With multiple clubs reportedly interested, his future at Bramall Lane is uncertain. Nonetheless, the profit could be monumental.

Defenders

When we talk about FEFL legends, Mickey Demetriou (D) of Crewe Alexandra immediately comes to mind. This hero averaged an outstanding 8.1 points over 35 matches, achieving 13 double-digit scores for the Railwaymen. Even with only 13 clean sheets, Demetriou proved his worth everywhere on the field. He contributed 42 tackles, 60 blocks, and an incredible 350 clearances – the eighth-highest in the league. He also chipped in with two goals and two assists, including a sensational streak from Gameweeks 4-7 where he amassed 50 points in four games. His consistency unmatched, with only one blank all season. Unfortunately, a significant injury cut short his incredible season.

Fantasy EFL Gameweek 1 recap - top scorers 4

It would be remiss not to mention Anthony O’Connor (D) of Harrogate Town when discussing clearances. Though the number 15 only helped the Sulphurites to 10 clean sheets in 45, he was the standout in defence. O’Connor made 54 tackles, 52 blocks, and an incredible 473 clearances—the most of any player in the EFL. He also contributed two goal contributions and achieved 10 double-digit scores.

Max Cleworth (D) was an absolute standout in Wrexham’s defence, proving to be a formidable force in front of goal. He bagged seven goals and two assists, making him the joint-highest scoring defender in the league. His impressive season saw him rack up 310 points in 42 appearances, contributing significantly to Wrexham’s defensive solidity with 22 shutouts. Beyond his goal contributions, Cleworth’s defensive stats highlight his all-around impact: he made 69 tackles, 178 clearances, and 21 blocks. The number four was undeniably essential to the Red Dragons’ historic promotion. He’ll be a vital player and a linchpin in their defence as they face Championship opposition.

Midfielders

Davis Keillor-Dunn (M) made a significant move to Barnsley from Mansfield Town last summer and proved to be an outstanding performer for the Tykes despite their difficult season. The 27-year-old, often playing out of position as a forward, was exceptional. Wearing the number 40 shirt, he notched up 18 goals (+106) and provided eight assists in 45 appearances. Contributing to 26 goals directly, totalling 265 points. This strong showing builds on his impressive previous season in League Two, where he scored 22 goals and assisted nine, making bids for the midfielder-turned-striker seem highly likely.

Doncaster Rovers’ League Two title win can be largely attributed to the stellar performance of Luke Molyneux (M). While some might label him a “troll” due to occasional blanks, the number seven was undeniably pivotal. The number seven ended the season with an impressive 16 goals and 14 assists in 45 appearances. His creative influence was further highlighted by 95 key passes, the second-highest in the entire EFL. He hit the ground running, scoring two 19-point hauls within the first four Gameweeks. He even bagged a hat-trick in Gameweek 37, returning a massive 28 points.

Forward

Securing his spot in the team, Michael Cheek (F), the League Two Player of the Season, has had an inaugural EFL season reminiscent of Jamie Vardy’s career trajectory. The 33-year-old forward was phenomenal, tallying 25 goals (+125) and six assists in 45 appearances, accumulating 238 points. The number nine finished as the EFL’s top scorer, with an impressive 10 goals in his final 10 games for Bromley. His truly lethal season played a pivotal role in the Ravens’ own inaugural EFL season, helping Andy Woodman’s side secure an outstanding 11th-place finish.
