RULES TO CONSIDER
Here’s a recap of the scoring breakdown for clubs:

The regular season will last for 40 Gameweeks, each set to run from Thursday to Wednesday.

This season in Fantasy EFL brings a significant shift in how points are awarded, especially for high-scoring teams.
While the existing rule of selecting a club a maximum of five times per season remains, there are exciting changes to game week scoring:
- Away teams can now earn a maximum of 13 points in a single game week.
- Home teams can now score up to 11 points per game.
This increase is due to an additional +2 points bonus awarded for scoring four or more goals in a game, alongside the existing bonus structure.
As a result, focusing on teams with strong attacking potential and a history of high goal counts has become an even more rewarding strategy, offering a greater potential upside compared to defensively oriented sides.
Last season, we initially believed that consistently targeting away teams would be a highly effective weekly strategy. However, this didn’t turn out to be as fruitful as we’d hoped.
That said, when it did pay off, the returns were significant.
CHAMPIONSHIP
Leicester City are certainly a side who will consistently be in title contention this season, points deduction threat aside.
This means that they are also likely to be a hot Fantasy commodity, and every manager should be selecting them five times throughout the campaign.
They ended last campaign 18th in the Premier League, outperforming relegation rivals Ipswich Town and Southampton.

With the appointment of the experienced Marti Cifuentes, the Foxes are expected to flourish at both ends this campaign. This will be aided by the return of key players Ricardo Pereira (D) and Abdul Fatawu (F) from injury, solidifying that the Foxes will likely have a dominant season. Some key Double Gameweeks to target:
| Double Gameweek 12 | Portsmouth (H), Hull City (A) |
| Double Gameweek 36 | PNE (H), Sheffield Wednesday (A) |
Gameweek 12 sees the Foxes face two sides last season who had tricky seasons – Pompey cleared the relegation zone by seven points, while survived on the final day on goal difference.
Whereas, the home game against PNE could be a near-promotion party, while the thunderclouds continue to circle around Wednesday, which could see them already relegated.
LEAGUE ONE
Luton Town are widely expected to have a strong season and bounce back after two consecutive relegations.
They boast a squad that’s clearly superior to most other League One teams, making them the highest-owned side for Gameweek 1 so far, with 52.1% ownership. Their season kicks off with a promising opening night fixture on August 1 at home against fellow League One newcomer AFC Wimbledon.
Under the guidance of Matt Bloomfield, who has experience in the division as well, they have made several key transfers to bolster their promotion bid this season, with George Saville (M) and Hakeem Odoffin (D) being the most notable.
However, while they don’t have many ideal Double Gameweek fixtures, there is one standout:
| Double Gameweek 23 | Exeter City (A), Doncaster Rovers (A) |
Double Gameweek 23 is shaping up to be a prime opportunity to target the Bedfordshire outfit, as they’ll face both Exeter City (who finished 16th last season) and newly promoted Doncaster Rovers away from home. This Double Gameweek could realistically see them secure a maximum of 26 points.
Exeter finished last season 16th, while newly promoted Doncaster Rovers only won 12 of 23 games at Eco-Power Stadium last campaign.
LEAGUE TWO
Cambridge United are a top League Two selection after also being relegated last season under Neil Harris. They scored 45 goals last season, a number that is sure to improve now that they are in England’s fourth division.
The signing of defensive midfielder Dominic Ball (M) should strengthen their defence, which struggled throughout the campaign, conceding 79 goals. They’ve also kept hold of key assets, including James Brophy (M), captain Michael Morrison (D), and Shayne Lavery (F).
| Double Gameweek 26 | Tranmere Rovers (H), Shrewsbury Town (H) |
Rovers finished 20th in League Two last season, while the U’s did the double over Salop last season, including a 4-1 home victory.
DON’T UNDERESTIMATE DOUBLE GAMEWEEKS

The inaugural Fantasy EFL season was packed with thrilling Double Gameweeks and sensational performances.
We were anticipating 10 Doubles and one Triple. In the end, we had 19 Doubles and two Triples – meaning there were fewer Single Gameweeks than Doubles/Triples!
This year promises similar excitement, with a projected 16 Double Gameweeks on the horizon. Working off last season’s data, this number will undoubtedly increase.
Savvy managers will need a tactical approach, likely saving their top picks to maximise these highly anticipated periods.
Even if some clubs don’t have ideal Double Gameweeks and are better for Single Gameweeks, targeting the Doubles is still key. More points mean bigger prizes, so they’re worth prioritising.
EXPLORE YOUR OPTIONS
Beyond the anticipated Double Gameweeks (and the hopeful Triple Gameweeks!), this Fantasy EFL season will feature several Blank Gameweeks, primarily affecting Championship teams.
Championship and League One teams will only have a blank in Gameweek 14, so you’ll want to save your top picks from these divisions for that period.
However, all Championship clubs face blanks in Gameweeks 1, 6, 11, 16, 24, and 35. During these weeks, it’s crucial to prioritise your preferred League One and League Two sides.
Above all, however, have fun with it.
With a colossal 72 teams to choose from and new selections available every week, don’t shy away from risky choices or picking teams based on gut feelings, winning streaks, or any other metric you prefer.
Your club picks aren’t just vital for winning; they’re a huge part of what makes Fantasy EFL so entertaining and unique.
