Fantasy Premier League (FPL) has grown from esoteric diversion to mainstream hobby over the 20+ years of its existence.

Now the game is everywhere, from newspaper columns to sports TV channels.

From 76,000 managers in 2002/03 to 11.5 million last season, the rise in interest has seen some famous names take a shine to FPL.

One of the most recognisable faces is snooker’s Neil Robertson, the current world number eight.

And ‘The Thunder from Down Under’ has been good enough to share his first draft for FPL 2025/26 with us! Our thanks go to him.

The 2010 World Champion has built a team with the proviso that Alexander Isak (£10.5m) secures his long-touted move to Liverpool, which sounds like it will be contingent on Newcastle United bagging a replacement.

NEIL ROBERTSON’S FIRST DRAFT

    Sels
    WanB / VDV / DeCuyper
    Palmer / BrunoF / Wirtz / Rogers / Kudus
    Haaland / Gyokeres

    4.0 / Agbadou / Reinildo / Guiu

Im not really feeling the premium defenders from the start. I think I’m going to go with this and see how it pans out. The defenders I’ve picked switch about quite nicely and I’ve managed to get Sels in there as a set and forget too. Thanks

I like these sort of articles, kinda fun really. Which is what we all tell ourselves before losing three goals to var and seeing our rival's ridiculous bench jam on the opening day.

Looks a decent team, hope he does well.

    Best 4.5 milf?

I KNOW none are nailed. Currently chancing it with A.Ramsey (as so many others are) - but scared when those 'others' get rid of him en-mass he'll drop to 4.4.

Thoughts? Be amazing if there was a 4.5 'maybe' from a promoted club.

I was on Ramsey too and had the same thought as you, don't want to get stuck with a 4.4 mid. So I tweaked my team a bit and went for a 5M Mid (Longstaff)

TF already ruled out Solanke (ankle injury) for today's game.

We still have Bayern Munich and PSG more info before GW1

“Dominic is unfortunately not quite ready,” Thomas shared. “He’s taking slightly a bit longer. Again, not overly concerned, but he's not available for the Newcastle game.”

I see no reason why they would not start in that scenario. Given that it is the preseason/ beginning of the season, they should be fine to start and continue to build up both their playing time and match sharpness.

    Bench too thin?

2 spots unsure of, Anderson is forum fav, but Harry’s smashing it preseason. Watkins got his goal yesterday & Gyok is unknown in prem, don’t need another Werner. Konsa another favourite but Dorgu catches the eye, which options would you sway to?

    Sanchez
    Virgil, VDV, Neco
    Salah, Palmer, Wirtz, Rogers, Anderson/HarryW
    Wood, Watkins/Gyok

    4m, Guiu, Konsa/Dorgu, 4m

Wattkins for fixtures, and could swap in gw7

Morning ballers, thoughts on this first draft

    Sels
    VVD, Milenkovic, Udogie
    Neto, Palmer, (S)alah, Rogers, Malen
    Watkins, Gyökeres

    Darlow, Guiu, Esteve, Hoever

Udogie and other 2 defenders will rotate of 6 GW
Malen is my main gamble, but rated him last season and he should of played more.
Structure allows me good cap pick for first 6 weeks at least.
Guiu now at Sunderland and could be a solid 4.5m starting striker - good fixtures for them over the first 6

    1. AAAFootball
      • 1 Year

Hoever may not start, especially with the addition of David Moller Wolfe from AZ Alkmar

      Triple Villa attack?
      Udogie injury would need monitoring
Darlow is going to lose you money when he isn't Leeds starting keeper
I'm not convinced about Guiu in GW1-6 with Mayenda and Isidor also decent but agree he's the best looking shout if you aren't on an early BB strategy

I'm starting to wonder how much longer FPL is going to be worth bothering with. Absolutely saturated with content creators, sites like FPL review and now these Ai tools which has completely removed the skill of actually using your own judgement and decision making from your own research.. Everything is spoon fed.

Whenever you think you have identified a pick that could be a little under the radar you can guarantee there will be some melt content creator on twitter with a large following telling everyone about what a good pick they could be. It makes me sick. Do these idiots not realise that by doing this they are reducing their own chances?

Its actually starting to show as not many of the well known content creators got anywhere near top 10k last season. I can think of only 2 or 3 that did. So their tips are back firing.

    1. Boberella

The fun now will be going with your gut and switching off from the throng of content creators all generally spouting the same stuff.

10 funny FPL names from AI:

    1. "Palmer's Market" For when Cole’s value is rising like stocks—he’s a hot commodity in every Gameweek.

    2. "Gvardiol Proof" Josko anchoring your defense so well it’s basically indestructible. Pun on “bulletproof.”

    3. "Joãobreaker" João Pedro smashing expectations like a jawbreaker. Works best if you’re bold enough to start him.

    4. "Endo the Line" Carlos Baleba is probably better, but if Endo starts, this one's a pun on “end of the line.”

    5. "Kelleher Instincts" If your Brentford keeper’s pulling off saves and you saw it coming, trust your instincts.

    6. "Rodrigo Gomezzed Up" When you picked him on vibes, and now you’re praying for attacking returns. A gentle jab at chaos picks.

    7. "Udogie Park" Destiny owning that left flank like Jurassic Park—dangerous, fast, and occasionally out of control.

    8. "Watkins of Mass Creation" When Ollie creates more chances than most midfielders—name fits if you captain him.

    9. "Isak Quarters" Alexander scoring steadily in chunks—like payday. Bonus: sounds like a tactical striker role.

    10. "Saka and Destroy" For a Gameweek where Bukayo goes nuclear—goals, assists, bonus, the works.

4, 5 and 6 are decent but some of these are just so random they make me laugh

What the heck is Isak Quarters? lol 😛

I'll hazard a guess he was big in the early 90's.

The host, in fine roasting tradition, said ‘what are the odds he was available?’ T’was a fine jape.

10 more names, slightly better but doing this just cracks me up so much lol

Here is Copilot's second attempt at a funny
Goalie McGoalface — because tradition meets clean sheets.

Eze Come Eze Go — smooth assists, sudden injuries.

Full Krul Press — when Tim's saves are the blueprint.

Toney Stark FC — assembling penalties with superhero flair.

Malacia in Wonderland — down the left flank rabbit hole.

Daka Daka Boom — explosive pace, minimal chill.

The VARminators — glitchy calls, ruthless precision.

Cucurella De Vil — stylish chaos from the back.

McTominay Your Business — midfield meddling, privacy not guaranteed.

Akanji Believe It — faith in the Swiss machine.

    goalie mcgoalface? what a legend

Most drafts have Milenkovic or Murillo. Paying premium for a Nottingham defender just seems odd. Do people really expect then to be as good this year?

I think they'll start well until the 'Europa-effect' starts to kick in by late Autumn.

Is there a DC/90 stat in the members area? I am trying to work out if Milenkovic is worth the extra £ over Neco.

They are very close in that regard, both around 8.5 per 90, Neco slightly ahead.
      Neco was better for BPS,
Milenkovic higher goal threat, Neco higher assist threat.
