Our Fantasy Premier League (FPL) 2025/26 team previews continue with Graham Potter’s West Ham United.

Here, their best FPL picks for the upcoming campaign are discussed. We’ll also attempt to predict the line-up for Gameweek 1, review pre-season, detail the best players for defensive contributions (DC) and more.

REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL

3pm team news: First league starts for Fullkrug + Gruda 2

BOWEN + FULLKRUG IN TANDEM

Having replaced Julen Lopetegui in January, head coach Potter has now had a full summer to work with his team. Most of last season’s late months were spent lingering in 16th and 17th place but two wins in the final three took West Ham up to a lofty 14th.

What’s filling fans with summer optimism is the blossoming partnership between Jarrod Bowen (£8.0m) and Niclas Fullkrug (£6.0m).

The German’s first year in English football has been decimated by injury, but he finally seems ready to be unleashed. Between them, the pair have collected five goals and two assists in pre-season friendlies, combining to score the opener against Bournemouth.

“I think you can see the link-up is very good. I try to bring the ball to him in his strongest situation, where he can go one-on-one or go in behind. You could see also today, I think there were three or four situations where we linked up very well. He tried to do the same for me.

“Also, when I scored the goal, we worked very well against the ball. That’s also important for strikers. We are the defenders, we recognise it too. I love this guy. He’s my skipper.” – Niclas Fullkrug, speaking about Jarrod Bowen

DEFENSIVE IMPROVEMENT UNDER POTTER

Not exactly renowned for his defence-first approach, Potter nevertheless got more of a tune out of the West Ham backline than Julen Lopetegui did.

As you can see from the graphic above, West Ham’s rolling xGC average went in the right direction after the change in manager.

A tally of 23 goals conceded in 18 games under Potter was the joint-eighth best in the league.

Only three sides allowed the opposition fewer big chances (33) in that time, too.

It didn’t translate into an upturn in clean sheets (just three in 18) but at least the green shoots of recovery are there.

I haven't been paying much attention but WTF is going on with the FPL site. It's not letting me do anything. I assume it's the same for others? How long has it been like this?

Just me or is the FPL site dropping occasionally? If it’s like this now what will it be like just before deadline

It will almost certainly crash. But on the bright side they’ll give us a couple of extra WCs!

    Guehi looking good at 4.5

Chelsea have lodged a £43m offer for 26-year-old Liverpool and France centre-back Ibrahima Konate.

You have 4 forwards, guessing Guiu is a 4.5-5 mid?

I dont mind this set up as long as you know that Gakpo, Reijnders, Pedro and Guiu are all mins risks, it's got upside. One thing I dont understand is Aina. I think hes the 5th best option in NFO DEF.

    BB GW 1

    Sels
    Tarkowski - Williams - Aina
    Salah - Palmer - Ndiaye - Georgino
    Watkins - Pedro - Fullkrug

    Vicario - Reijnders - VdV - Diouf

WC GW 4 and FH GW 6 is the plan.

Picks are very short term due to the early WC. Thoughts? 🙂

Yep like it for the first 3 weeks when they have no Europe.

Plan is to save FT in gw 2 and do Fullkrug + Georgino ➡ Sesko + 4.5m mid in GW 3. And then WC in GW 4.

    Team and then my thoughts;

    Sels, Dubravka
    RAN, VVD, VDV, Diouf, Gudmundsson
    Salah, Palmer, Rice, Kudus, Reijnders
    Watkins, Joao Pedro, Fullkrug

Tempted to go back to Kelleher but NFO defensive EO seems quite high
Thinking of losing VVD, but for who? Do I want Cucurella? Do I get Neco and use the extra 1m elsewhere?
Lose Watkins to bring Solanke back and use the 1.5m to upgrade elsewhere?

    FWIW, I’m BB1

Some of the same things I am thinking about.
Is Sels a good option with the DC some of the defender can get and if you are not sure on VVD for first few fixtures then go for a 4.5 keeper and double up forest defence with defenders …

    Kelleher (Vlad/Dub)
    Williams Konsa Vdv Esteve Gudmundson
    Salah Palmer Mitoma Reijnders Kdh
    Haaland Larsen Fullkrug
    1.0 million in the bank

    Notes:
Defense: Konsa has great fixtures till GW 7
Vdv has bad fixtures in GW 2 and 5 which are covered by Esteve.

Mid: As long as he is fit I always consider Mitoma a premium player who I can play every week. Kdh can play the first 4 without issue. If Reijnders is a fail I have 1 million in the bank to upgrade to I.Sarr

    Forwards:
Will play Larsen every week for a while from GW 2. Fullkrug is the cheapest forward I like and he can come become Evanilson with the 1 million in the bank if he is a total failure

I think I'm pretty set on this. the 1 million in the bank really gives me peace of mind considering its a triple premium risky squad
