Four of the best managers in Fantasy Football Scout’s Hall of Fame have exclusively revealed their Fantasy Premier League (FPL) teams ahead of Friday’s Gameweek 1 deadline!

These are the cream of the crop, the FPL bosses who haven’t just racked up one outstanding overall rank but several of them.

Our star-studded quartet are:

  • Abinav C (rank 3rd): Finished 193rd in the world last season, which was their second time in the top 1k and fourth in the top 10k. Hasn’t finished outside the top 50k in any of the last nine seasons.
  • Rob Mayes (rank 6th): Hasn’t been outside the top 30k in the last nine years, finishing top 1k on two occasions and top 10k on a further two.
  • Gideon Moss (rank 7th): Followed up a top 2k finish in 2023/24 by finishing 11th in the world last season. Has another top 4k rank to their name on top of this.
  • Niklas Nylander (rank 15th): A top 1k finish in 2024/25, their second such overall rank. They posted top 10k finishes in 2023/24 and 2022/23, too.

Here we go, then, with their Gameweek 1 teams!

    Thoughts on this?

    Sels Dubravka
    Cucurella Porro Dorgu Esteve Gudmundsson
    Salah Wirtz Rice Georginio Reijnders
    Haaland JP Kroupi

Salah and Haaland make it unbalanced. Hard to make a team with both work - that could change with more funds. Plus, not convinced they're worth the money as a combined package based on recent form.

How was Szoboszlai for CBIT last season? He had 16 GI from 29 starts for 143 points. Only 6.5m

Compare to Ndiaye: 114 points and 9 GI from 29 starts

Also the more popular Sarr: 149 points and 15 GI from 30 starts

      Not nailed unfortunately.

They could play MacAllister, Gravenberch, Wirtz in midfield with Gakpo, Ekitike and Salah up top.

      I think he's an option

6 goals and 10 assists as you say

But I've had it beaten out of me

In my early drafts but I've been convinced he is sitting deeper

I think he had two scuffed shots on Sunday which means he will get forward and can normally hit the ball well

      I do think he's a dark horse

But for 1m more you get Gakpo in attack or Sarr at 6.5m.

        Took his penalty with conviction

I think he'll start more often than not

Including on Friday because Grav is out

In fact I might back him to score!!

If Solanke comes through tonight's game looking good I'd go for the two 7.5s, but very close. Of course, Solanke and Mateta could easily be Joao Pedro and Wood whereas Füllkrug could only really be that Brentford striker or someone from the promoted teams.

Latest draft - 4 Liverpool players (if Guehi signs)

    Sanchez (Dub)
    RAN, Milenkovic, Diouf (Guehi, Rodon)
Salah (c), Palmer, Wirtz, Szoboszlai, Reijnders
    Watkins, Pedro (Guiu)

        mattyb09
Guess you didnt see Chelsea's bid for Konate. Chelsea need a CB with Colwill out for season.
Not sure but I think Konate has only 1 year left on his contract unless he has signed a new one

        1. martynteresa
          11 months, 7 days ago

I mean Konate is in a contract standoff with Liverpool and Pool are trying to sign 2 CB. Guehi & Giovanni Leoni

So I'd say wait and see on Guehi at Pool. If it happens grab him. Guehi insisted to NC that he wouldonly join if he was a starter. Made the same requirement of Liverpool. Pool have agreed personal terms with him

My FPL Wizards, it's great to be back and I've missed you guys! I've been out of touch and tried my hand at a team. Salah did wonders for me last season but his form tapered off after his contract, which is why I'm going without him. Might be crazy. Anything you would change?

    Kelleher (dubravka)
    RAN Frimpong Murillo (AWB Esteve)
    Kudos Palmer Wirtz DBH (Reijnders)
    Bowen haaland Jpedro

I'm going with Salah but I really like the look of this, surprised you can afford it. Think having Salah means I'm not used to seeing three expensive strikers.

Thanks Tallest john! Could you share why you still salah has got it? Feel like the attacking potential might go to other players like wirtz and ekitike

Sorry, didn't get a notification for your reply.

Last year I was big on Håland and started without Salah which went well for about 6 weeks. My team looked good and basically the only way I was going to fall behind was if Håland regressed and Salah had a career year at 32... which he did. As discussed on FPL Black Box recently, Salah looks to be in that Messi/Ronaldo mould where he can still be highly effective well into his 30s.

I was unsure what role Wirtz would have for Pool, it looks like he's going to be an attacking midfielder and I'd probably go there if he was a little cheaper. Ekitike could be very interesting but I'd rather start with one of the many proven strikers at 7.5m. I'll reassess Salah vs. Håland after City have played Arsenal.

Makes complete sense and thanks for your detailed response. I'll take a gamble and go haaland but will be ready to switch once either of their forms changes. Wishing you luck and all the best!

Trying to stray from the template with a couple of my choices.

    Sels
    VVD, Tarkowski, N Williams
Estevao, Zubimendi, Ndiaye, Salah (C), Palmer (V)
    Watkins, J Pedro
    Subs: Dubravka, Gabriel, Esteve, Guiu

I'm not seeing Estevao or Zubimendi in many drafts. Are they that unlikely to start? Thanks.

    1. TallestJohn
      • 9 Years
      11 months, 7 days ago

Think Zubimendi will be more of a defensive midfielder and takes up an Arsenal spot which you might want. I think he's first choice but Nørgaard is competent and if given the same opportunity he'd probably score more goals as an aerial threat. FWIW I currently have Saka and Rice in my team.

Don't know a lot about Estevao but we know his main competition on the right is Neto and Palmer has played there too under Maresca.

Thanks, that's really helpful. I do get the feeling that Estevao might be more a cup player than a league player at least to start.
I'm an Arsenal supporter but I'm still steering clear of their higher-priced assets until the early, difficult games have passed!

Me too. Last season Saka killed me early when I didn't own him, then killed me when I did own him and only stopped killing me when others bought him on his return from injury. People seem to favour Palmer to start this year but I don't think Chelsea's fixtures are quite as good as people suggest. Admittedly some tough ones for Arsenal too but potential DC points for Rice.

Might have finally settled on a GW1 BB team, with 0.5 itb (enables me to reach a 6.0 def, 7.0 mid in a single transfer)

    Sels
Tarkowski / Williams / Van de Ven
    Palmer / Gakpo / Ndiaye / Rutter
    Haaland / Watkins / JPedro

Dubravka / Reijnders / De Cuyper / Diouf

If Dubravka is not likely to play then I would most likely reinvest some money from the bench (with a possible downgrade of Pedro) to reach a Bruno / Saka

Any thoughts on this draft would be appreciated. The Cunha pick is a bit different, so that could be anyone up to 8.0m. Thanks.

    Sels
    VDV / Konsa / Diouf
    Salah(c) / Palmer / Reijnders / Wirtz / Cunha
    Watkins / Joao Pedro

Dubravka / Marc Guiu / Rodon / Richards

Happier with a Haaland BB1 team than Salah one. Probably FH2, WC4.

    Sanchez // Verbruggen
De Cuyper // James // Milenkovic // Murillo // VDV
Wirtz // Gakpo // Neto // Reijnders // Sarr (Spud)
    Haaland // Watkins // Ekitike

Kerkez is an improvement, Frimpong is no worse than Arnold defensively.

                CBs and GK are same.

Based on fixtures Strand Larsen is better than Pedro. He had Cunha, taking shots instead of assisting last season and Munetsi a DM playing on his right in a front three. When Cunha was out for some games at end of season SL starting hitting the net. This season hes got Arias on one side (top assist provider at CWC) and Fer Lopez on his right who he played with in Spain. Those 2 will create a lot more opportunities for him than Cunha & Munetsi.

Wolves have Sunderland, Leeds & Burnley in 1st 9 plus
    Bournemouth, Fulham & Everton.
    Good 1st 9 games

    What do you think?

      Not convinced.
Those two are new and need to prove their worth. Missing RAN will affect the chances created too, Cunha will be missed.
Not going to be hunky dory for wolves this season.

I don't think he did play with Fer in Spain. Fer's also very raw still, very few minutes at any level so might not be ready yet. My concern is Wolves played and I presume still play a wing back system and a lot of their creativity bar Cunha came from Ait-Nouri and Semenyo who have both also departed. They've been replaced but to what extent I don't know.

What do you want to happen in gw1?

    1. Haaland haul
    2. Salah blank

    What will happen...

    3. Hauls from unexpected players
    4. Early season red cards
    5. Managers sent to the stands

    Probably not changing anything anymore.
    Good to go?

    Sels
De Cuyper, Neco, Van de Ven
    Salah, Palmer, Gakpo, Reijnders
    Watkins, Evanilson, Mateta

    Petrović, Munoz, Konsa, King

    FH3, WC7 (probably)

This will likely be my GW1 team, with Solanke's spot dependant on what I see this evening.

Regular starters, good smattering of DC potential and all three big hitters...

    Sanchez
    Murillo Tarks Williams
    Salah Palmer Anderson Stach Reijnders
    Haaland Solanke

    Dubravka Esteve Orden Guiu

Midfield needs at least one more dependable scorer

Perhaps. I'll run this for 5, 6 GWs and assess. I'm thinking that Salah may not be with the cash long term...

Further question on the app's transfer plan... given the Scout example is 83%, what do we think are the parameters of Decent, Good, Excellent in % terms.

    80% decent?
    Mid-high 80s Very good?

Had anyone ever scored 90%+, is this realistic regularly?

With Villas games I'd be inclined to do Malen for Anderson.
Anerson easier fixtures may not knock up much DC points.
Malen prolific scorer and assister against easier fixtures too
Dont think Guessand will affect Malen for the first 7.

      That's a reasonable point.

Is Estève a better pick than Rodon or a 4m Sunderland or Leeds player?

Primarily because they are playing them at home in gw2 and gw8.

Otherwise last on the bench as cover.

Never going to play him apart from in GW2 or 8

Seen Burnley fans say he’s their best player. Worth having on the bench.

Burnley did look solid against Lazio and he looked sure footed.

My team wasn't on my TV at the weekend and X did an official stream.

About a quarter of a million people watching, a few with FPL in mind!

Not sure if they’ll be able to handle the premier league but they’re playing Sunderland in GW2 who they were better than in the championship last season. Hopefully Dubravka plays also

    or

    B) N.William + Reijnders

First proper draft. Not sure on defenders as nobody really has a great set of fixtures. The top teams either have poor fixtures or dodgy back lines.

    Sels Dubravka

Tarkowski Vdv De Cuyper Gabriel Dorgu

    Saka Palmer Wirtz Marmoush Kudus

    Watkins Wood (guiu)

      Cunha over Marmoush imo.

Get rid of Tarko & Murillo, get cheaper defenders and you will feel much better about your team. DC hype is just...
