With Gameweek 3 finishing on a Sunday, it meant there wasn’t time to include the revised stats for Sunday’s matches in Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

Maxence Lacroix (£5.0m) ended one defensive contribution (DefCon/DC) short of the threshold of 10 required for defenders to earn two extra Fantasy points.

Unfortunately for his owners, once Opta had reviewed Crystal Palace’s win at Aston Villa, he was bumped up to 10 DefCons – but he didn’t gain his two DC points because the Gameweek had already closed.

In order to accurately reflect a player’s performance in Fantasy, Player Stats > Fantasy Stats now show DefCon points taken directly from the FPL website:

However, Player Stats > Defending is unchanged: it still uses our Opta data to calculate DefCon success.

Ultimately, it’s not Lacroix’s fault that the Gameweek closed early; had there been another match on Monday, the stats would have updated and he would have gained his two DC points.

He reached the required 10 DefCons and therefore maintains his 100% record. As Fantasy managers looking to recruit players, it’s better that the stats reflect what happened in the match rather than cutting off early, before Opta match reviews have been completed.

Lacroix is one of six players to have hit the DefCon threshold in each of their appearances this season.

We’ve also added a new stat to  Player Stats > KPI Defending, namely ‘Minutes per Defensive Contribution’.

When setting the ‘Minutes per Appearance’ filter to greater than 45 minutes, we remove players who tend to feature late on from the bench, and the resulting table gives us a good idea of who does well in DefCons.

For those of you who like to build custom stat tables, the following DefCon stats are now available:

And for DefCons taken from Fantasy, use the stats starting with ‘FPL’:

The two new delta stats – ‘Defensive Contribution Delta’ and ‘Defensive Contribution Points Delta’ – compare our Opta data with FPL.

They reveal that it’s not only Lacroix who has missed out on two additional points this season, but Bruno Guimaraes (£6.5m) as well. The Brazilian had 11 DefCons, one short of the threshold of 12 required for midfielders, when Gameweek 2 closed following Newcastle United’s Monday night defeat to Liverpool. Following Opta’s review the next day, he increased to 12.

There are differences in the underlying stats for a number of players. Michael Keane (£4.5), for instance, is two DefCons worse off, but none of those changes were consequential as no-one failed to reach their positional threshold because of them.

It works both ways, of course.

Palace’s Will Hughes and Leeds United’s Ethan Ampadu (both £4.9m) have two DefCons more on FPL compared to Opta’s revised match data.

So far, however, it’s not caused any player to gain two DefCon points that they didn’t merit. Although it’s surely just a matter of time before it does.

DefCons per start in my custom stats tables is a thing of beauty. Even if being a virgin wasn't a choice, this would still compensate for it and keep me warm at night.

Don't like the Gyokeres pick. He scored 2 goals at home against a newly promoted team in their second PL game. Other than that he's been totaly anonymous. Much prefer J Pedro.

Not at this stage. Eze has only played 20 mins at Arsenal and still getting used to the system and his new team mates. Same with Xavi, I'd want to see how he settles in before picking him.

I'd wait to see Xavi settle first as he's new to the league, but an early Eze punt is very reasonable.

I'd definitely get Haaland, but Salah so far looks avoidable. I've been expecting Salah to drop in form for the past 2 years, and then he went on to break the points record last season. Wingers are one of the earliest to "expire" but while we're yet to see any glimpses of his drop of form, it is a fact that Liverpool now have other important players that should definitely share the burden. I'm not expecting another record to be broken at least.

I've been wanting Henderson since GW1 but decided to go a different direction because of the fixtures. Had Sels and now Pope, and I've been happy since. If you weren't yet persuaded by Lacroix, Munoz or Guehi, then you should definitely find room for Hendo.

Try this it's got 9 team of the season so far players.
    Verbruggen/Vicario
    Calafiori/Senisi/Guehi/Chalobah/Rodon
    Salah/Semenyo/Grealish/Dewsbury-Hall/Cullen
    Haaland/Pedro/Strand-Larsen.

Barca are not going to terminate his contract early, that was an incorrect rumour. And to compare him to Dele Alli is just wrong, their careers do not compare in the slightest, Rashford is an established international with multiple trophies.

I do agree he hasn't quite fulfilled his talent though, but let's not overdo it. He's still been good.

Rashford the most overrated english player of the last decade. And thats a bracket with loads of competition. Extremely selfish and egoistic player. Due to variance he has had a few stretches over the years where he overperforms xG and looks good. Most of the time he performs as expected and you see how many terrible shots and egoistic choices he makes. Terrible work rate as well.

Asked if Isak could play against Kosovo tonight, the Sweden manager said: 'Hopefully, hopefully, as a “game changer"'

So sounds like he's getting a bench appearance. Personally I want Isak to shake up the game a bit, so hope he gets a good 30 mins tonight, with another 30 against Burnley, ready for a start in the derby in GW5.

We need an adjusted xDC stat that takes into account if the matches played are early or late in the GW, seeing how players who play late in the GW can expect to get fewer DC than those playing early.

I am planning on bench boosting either on GW 5 or 7/8

    I have 0.2 and 1ft

    Sels

    Milenkovic Munoz Porro

    Bench: Dubravka Dorgu Esteve

    So which one is better:
    1. Dorgu to Senesi and bench Milenkovic
    2. Roll the transfer

    Also which one among these:
    A. Wildcard GW5, hope burnley and forest play 0-0 as I have 4 defenders/goalies

    B. Wildcard GW7/8, with 3/4 FT, change the bench players to have better chances of cleans.

Thoughts on this WC GW4, BB GW5 team?
Don’t like Fulham’s long term fixtures, so I’ve gone all in on Palace.

    Raya
    Muñoz - Lacroix - Guehi
Wirtz - Semenyo - Xavi Simons - Rodri
    Haaland - Gyökeres - Ekitiké
    (Dubravka - Senesi - Diakité - Elliott)

As a double Forest defence owner I've had two GWs so far with a clean sheet wiped out late on. If you care a lot don't risk it is all I'm saying

Haaland 'doing fine' after bizarre injury on Norway duty.

Erling Haaland is "doing fine" after requiring stitches for a cut to his face sustained in a bizarre incident on international duty with Norway, team captain Martin Odegaard said Monday.

The Manchester City star posted a photo on Snapchat on Sunday showing the facial injury he reportedly suffered when being hit by a luggage door as he got off Norway's team bus before walking into a hotel.

    Best move?
    A) Sarr to KDH/Reijnders
    B) Wood to Mateta/Pedro

      A is more pressing.

How longs Sarr out for, I have him, I was considering KDH, Elliott or Grealish. ( Reijnders owner)

I think Grealish would be my first choice, I'm 0.1 short though.

    All that for zilch?

What a waste of time and money in the process....

“The Premier League and Manchester City FC have reached a settlement in relation to the arbitration commenced by the club earlier this year concerning the Premier League’s Associated Party Transaction (APT) Rules and as a result the parties have agreed to terminate the proceedings.

“This settlement brings an end to the dispute between the parties regarding the APT Rules. As part of the settlement, Manchester City accepts that the current APT Rules are valid and binding.

“It has been agreed that neither the Premier League nor the club will be making any further comment about the matter.”

It "looks as if City’s proposed sponsorship deal with Etihad will be accepted by the Premier League and that City will not pursue Premier League for owner loan interest"

What's the final point there? Why would MC pursue the PL for owner loan interest?

Guess that's why the accountants etc get called in!

Looks like they settled in return for getting their swanky new, totally not dodgy Etihad deal approved. Both sides win.

Wasn't Man City's case more about the inconvenience and bureaucracy of proving ATP deals were fair market value, than disputing the rule itself? The owner loan points just seemed like a distraction and pointing out some limited double standards.

    As it's a bit slow

It turns out on a quick look that most of the Premier League pitches are a standard width of 68m, with the exception of Chelsea and Fulham.

Heh, even before opening the link I thought about the argument that Semenyo does better at home because their pitch is smaller.

With 1 FT & 2.8 ITB could someone give me any pointers on what to do please?
    Kelleher
    Van de Ven - Rodon - N.Williams
    Rogers - Mbuemo - Gakpo - Bruno - Semenyo
    Watkins - Haaland
    (Dorgu-AWB-Guiu)

An option I'm considering is rolling and attacking it next week with 2FT but the team feels too light to leave this GW

On WC.. going with a strong defence:

Which combo would you pick and why:

    A) Pope & Gabriel
    B) Raya & Lacroix (have Munoz so will be double palace def).

    Other defenders are:
    Virgil - Munoz - Senesi - Andersen

Yeah.. a lot of value in defence with the 4.5m up to 5.5m as opposed to the mids at same price range that’s why I’m going to be on 4-3-3 for most gw’s

    Hi,

I will need from you little advice with the transfer plan for GW 4.
In the bank 0.9 and 1 FT

    1) Larsen -> Mateta, Sarr-> any midfielder below 6.3 price - cost -4
    2) Sarr -> Semenyo - cost 0
    3) Esteve - > Munoz (double def CP, Richards & Munoz), Sarr-> any midfielder below 5.9 price - cost -4
    4) Larsen -> Evanilson, Sarr-> any midfilder below 6.8 price - cost -4

What would you prefer from this option ? Also which midfielders you will advice to bring ? (Salah, Bruno, Anderson, Ndoye)
