The finals of both the FFS Open Cup and the FFS Members Cup will play out in Gameweek 20!

Both contests have £300 worth of prizes on offer, with a full breakdown towards the bottom of this piece.

FFS OPEN CUP

Team 1vsTeam 2
NameScoreRank NameScoreRank
ekiekiwapang3913454vsBilboBaggins4888984
HOCHOKI37452428vsrascalbear44420967

Our highest-ranked manager, ekiekiwapang, was defeated by BilboBaggins. Their defences scored the same number of points, so the latter’s differentials of Jarrod Bowen, Antoine Semenyo and Rayan Cherki were key.

rascalbear edged out HOCHOKI, meanwhile. Again, in a low-scoring week, the slightest differences made, er, all the difference. Modest returns from Caoimhin Kelleher and Semenyo helped swing it.

Our two finalists only share six players – one of those is Martin Dubravka, too – so there is plenty of scope for Gameweek 20’s final to go either way.

FFS MEMBERS CUP

Team 1vsTeam 2
NameScoreRank NameScoreRank
Studs Up3666556vsKosh1436567844
Drizzle41189154vsSantigold34116076

Like a World Cup semi-final going all the way to penalties, the last-four meeting between Studs Up and Kosh14 couldn’t be decided in ‘normal time’. Instead, a 36-all draw was settled by the former’s superior overall rank, which sees them through to the final. In the end, it came down to a Brentford-off on Thursday, with Michael Kayode‘s clean sheet helping Studs Up draw level as Igor Thiago drew a blank for Kosh14.

Drizzle meanwhile saw off Santigold. Once again, there was precious little in it; a Semenyo return here, DefCon points for Malick Thiaw and Elliot Anderson there.

The final may come down to clean sheets and DefCon. While the two share (pre-deadline) four midfielders and two forwards, their defences are completely different bar the is-he-or-isn’t-he-injured Michael Keane. Their starting goalkeepers are different, too.

Good luck to everyone in the two finals!

HOW DO THE CUP COMPETITIONS WORK?

The FFS Cup is very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s own cup game.

Entrants who qualify for the first round were randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores).

In the event of a draw, the manager highest in the overall FPL rankings after the tie will progress.

It depends. I'd do it if I had a FT or two to spare. But with a lot of injuries coming and two reasonable fixtures, I'd possibly hold

Foden or Cunha on a WC. Cunha has the fixtures but Man UTD are terrible. Would want Foden in 2 Gameweeks also. Heart says Foden to save a transfer as I need to build up the transfers with playing the WC so early. Thoughts?

The more I think about it, the more likely Cunha blanks the next two as both Leeds and Burnley are decent at home and United will possibly struggle with all their absentees.
Getting pretty close to doing Cunha -> Rogers.

Decent pick for next 2 irrespective. Doing Cunha to Roger’s after these 2 assuming Roger’s maintains his xG. No rush.

I think this is the way. United have peaked and troughed all season. Very much the United way to struggle Vs Wolves and then put 5 past Leeds. Well, probably not 5....

Transfers are so critical. Wasting them on slight improvements is just not the way. Always an injury or other problem or bigger priority just around the corner.

Cunha and ManU are so inconsistent and, he could also be due a haul or two. And Rogers could be over his streak. So wouldn’t do it unless no other matters

What are people's thoughts on starting attackers and defenders from opposing teams in the same GW?

Do you try to avoid doing this by benching one of them or do you start both if you think that individually they are better options than the players you are benching (even if a potential haul for one means a potential blank for the other)

    1. Biggsy
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

It's more about who you would play instead.

In an ideal world, like a FH scenario, you wouldn't do it. But you have a limited pool of defenders and attackers to choose from. Better to play a defender against your attacker and risk one cancelling the others points than to play a bench warmer for 1 point

    2. Harrington

I generally try to avoid it - it’s higher risk but higher reward.

I wouldn't take a hit just to prevent the risk of a benching when you have a playing bench player. You need to consider the move and whether it scores at least 4 points more than not making it

    Play one
    1. Wirtz
    2. O’reilly
    3. Dorgu

Potential threat over wirtz and o’reilly starts makes me think start dorgu. Unlikely clean sheet but potential attacking threat

Although will Amorim switch to back formation away to Leeds meaning dorgu less attacking?

Dorgu. I’m benching O’Reilly anyway as don’t like defenders that don’t do 90 plus Chelsea more likely to score than Leeds imo

    - Only 1 FT. Can’t get Gabriel without selling one of the current Arsenal

    - Rice & Hall both doubts. Wilson & Andersen need to go with Fulham’s fixtures. + got a poor bench.

If you are sure you want to sell Rice then A but needs to be a mid to long term move. Don't buy Rogers just because of this week's fixture. If you're only looking at 1 week id go for a newcastle player given palace look very tired and have had 2 days less recovery time.

Not for me. I'll be keeping saka as a placeholder for Palmer.

Your team looks a bit on the edge this week but I don't like any of the transfers as well. Keane Rice Thiago Clyne Richards King has a lot of bench/pre-60 sub/late appearance candidates but then the first three could start.

I would be tempted to move Richards on for another 4.5 def just as insurance. He is a long term hold yes, but your team can't carry him right now.

Play Lewis-Potter (eve) or Konsa (NFO)?

Standalone, Lewis-Potter is the exciting pick. Not often Konsa gets above 6 points. Do you have Tarkowski/Keane? You could go all in on a bore 0-0...

I'd start LP and hope it's a boring game. As previous said, Konsa is as dull as dishwater haha

“Has a chance”. I doubt Moyes will rush/risk him. I think he’ll come back next week

Which one do you prefer? A hit isn't ideal but will likely get paid back over a few weeks

    A - Play Guddy (MNU)
    B - Andersen to Tarky for -4

Throw us a clue and let us know how much you need to make it work and where you might consider a downgrade. Too open ended of a question.
