After the annual winter hiatus, the Scout Squad returns for Gameweek 22.

In this article, our in-house team discuss who they think the best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players are for the upcoming Gameweek in isolation.

MORE ABOUT THE SCOUT SQUAD

Scout Squad Gameweek 9

The focus is only on the upcoming Gameweek with the Scout Squad, so there’s no medium-term planning involved.

Staff writer Marc, general manager Sam, deputy editor Tom F and editor Neale each take turns explaining their picks.

The players who get the most votes are much more likely to make the Scout Picks. However, the final XI can’t exceed £83.0m – so occasionally, we have to source cheaper alternatives.

Each of our writers must meet the following requirements for this feature:

  • At least one sub-£5.0m goalkeeper
  • At least one sub-£5.0m defender
  • At least one sub-£6.0m midfielder
  • At least one sub-£7.0m forward
  • No more than three players from the same club

2.3 itb and 1 ft, but tempted to roll as starting 11 have decent fixtures. Any upgrade worth it this week?

    Vicario
    Gabriel Chalobah O'Reilly
    Saka Rice Foden Gordon Wilson
    Haaland Ekitike

    Dubravka Rodon Guiu Dorgu

Good week to save. Selling O'Reilly works if there's someone you'd like to replace him with with a good fixture, like Newcastle, Sunderland, Chelsea, Tottenham. But there's no player I would want to buy this week

Thanks, yeah he does need to go, just tempted to hold for Wolves and hope he plays

Depending on what happens in the Manchester derby, think it could be a high scoring week with the fixtures.

Everton’s best form seems to be against teams that are around them in the table. I’d probably play Tark. I’m thinking of starting Garner.

Thanks for your reasoning. My instinct was to play him and bench Bowen, despite my Arsenal bias against Spurs. Or maybe I over-rate Spurs for that reason, hmm, interesting.

Villa are third in the table, though, so Everton might not show form against them?? Still, I imagine a tight game, where Villa don't have the quality or nous to find the killer blow

Yeah makes sense. I’m having a bit of a brain fart this morning and confused Villa with Spurs.

Everton’s away form since November is actually pretty good though.

Have a game of Carcassonne with one:

      A) Tarkowski (avl)
      B) Bowen (tot)

Same. I like a challenge, and I bet he plays all the time (and with a smile on his face, unlike my partner). I heard somewhere that he plays against Pickford during the warm-up, but can't get Pickford to sit still. Apparently, Pickford has a small set of tiles in his duffel bag, which has the number of each tile type written on the back of each piece. Unfortunately for him, he struggles with spatial reasoning, so when trying to align the city pieces, he sometimes dives across the room into the game of Brass: Birmingham, which Grealish and Iroegbunam are playing in the middle of the dressing room. This isn't great for the team's focus-building before the game, and generally arouses the wrath of David Moyes, who empties his Connect 4 discs from the Connect 4 frame (which he is playing by himself), and walks intimidatingly round the room, placing one disk on each table. He then splits the players into the smart defenders and stupid attackers, and instructs the teams to rearrange the tables to connect 4 of the tables with like-coloured discs on them. When Tarkowski's team inevitably wins, this demonstrates that the strength of the team is in the back four and that James is going to get lots of defensive contributions against Villa.

      They fresh enough already

    2. Doubt they're already that drunk even though it's a Friday mate.

Best moves here with 2 FTs?

    Raya Dúbravka
Gabriel Chalabah Van Hecke Mukiele Heaven
    Saka Cunha Semenyo Rogers BrunoG
    Haaland Ekitiké Guiu

Rather than rolling I think the Raya to Rice switch, along with Cunha which releases £1.5m is the way to go.

Oof, a difficult situation to find yourself in, but if I try to imagine myself in it. Hmmmm..... Yes I think I'd have to do it. I like Rice too much.

However, betting against Rice is perfectly viable (eurgh I sound like I'm on a podcast), since there are plenty of intriguing midfielders available and emerging. Possibilities with Palmer, Enzo, Mbuemo, Fernandes, and chepos like Rice-lite, Anderson

Yeah I think switching Raya/Cunha out to get Rice is a good move. If you're happy without Rice, maybe just Cunha to Enzo

  6. A. Cunha > Bruno F
    B. Cunha > Enzo

Which one is best - can do either for free?

      B. Two rough fixtures for United would put me off getting BrunoF right now, maybe look to get him after that.

Want both for sure, long term - maybe wait for Bruno to GW24, but not sure...(se my post below).. Not so afraid for the City-game, as it might turn out to be a goal-spree both ways, but reckon there will be not much joy away at Arsenal...

    Nobody captaining Haaland?
I think Halland officially said that he hates Manchester United the most in the league...

    My midfield:

    Saka, Cunha, Gordon, Foden, Garner

    2ft, 1,4 itb

    a) Cunha to Bruno (as I want him for sure from gw24)
    b) Cunha and Garner to Rogers and Enzo
    c) Roll

    d) Any other suggestions? I plan to get rid of Gordon and foden befor gw24. If I keep Garner, I shold be able to fit in both Palmer and Bruno...
