Fantasy Bundesliga 2026/27 offers a unique challenge, with several rules that set it apart from other fantasy games.

If you’re playing this season, you’ll need to understand how the scoring, transfers, substitutions and budget work. In this guide, we break down everything you need to know.

The official Bundesliga Fantasy game returns for the 2026/27 season, allowing managers to build a 15-man squad and compete against friends, rivals and the wider Fantasy community.

Unlike many Fantasy games, Bundesliga Fantasy is only available as a free mobile app. There is no website version, so you’ll need to download it from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store before creating your team.

Here’s everything you need to know.

Squad and budget

Every manager starts with a 15-player squad, consisting of:

• Two goalkeepers
• Five defenders
• Five midfielders
• Three forwards

The game automatically gives you a squad worth 150 million at the start of the season.

Stay within your available budget whenever you make transfers. Player prices also rise and fall after every matchday based on performances.

Joining after the season starts? The game automatically creates a squad for you and adjusts your starting budget to match the average squad value of active managers.
Player positions remain fixed throughout the campaign.

Club limit

You cannot own more than three players from the same Bundesliga club.

Team name

The game automatically creates a team name when you register, but you can change it at any time through your profile.

Formation and Top 11

Pick your formation before the first match of each matchday kicks off.

Once the deadline passes, you cannot change it until the following round.

Bundesliga Fantasy uses a Top 11 scoring system. Rather than counting every player in your squad, the game only scores the 11 highest-scoring players who fit your chosen formation.

For example, if you select a formation with two forwards, only two strikers can contribute to your score, even if your third striker outscores one of them.

Star Players

Choose three Star Players every matchday:

• One defender
• One midfielder
• One attacker

Each Star Player scores 1.5x their normal points.

If one of your Star Players misses out on your Top 11, the game does not move the bonus to another player.

Scoring

Players earn Fantasy points from their real-life Bundesliga performances.

Bundesliga Fantasy rewards far more than just goals and assists.

While players still earn points for the usual actions such as goals, assists, clean sheets and appearances, the game also uses detailed Opta match statistics to reward all-round performances.

That means players can also score points for actions such as shots on target, shots off target, big chances created, big chances missed, successful crosses, winning ground duels, losing duels, ball recoveries and goal-line clearances, among many others.

As a result, players who consistently influence matches without necessarily scoring or assisting can still become valuable Fantasy assets.

The app also includes drop-down menus within the scoring section, allowing managers to view the full scoring system and every action that can earn or lose points.

The game can still update scores until 12:00 (Berlin time) on the day after the final fixture if official match data changes.

If a match is postponed or abandoned, affected players receive their average score. Star Players still receive the 1.5x multiplier.

On Matchday 1, before player averages exist, affected players receive the average score of players in the same position who played at least 70 minutes.

Transfers

Make unlimited transfers before your first scoring matchday.

After that, the game gives you five free transfers between matchdays.
Every transfer must leave you with:

• 15 players
• The correct positional balance
• No more than three players from one Bundesliga club
• Enough budget to complete the move

You can only replace a player with someone in the same position.

Change your mind? Reverse any transfer before the first match of the matchday kicks off.

Prizes

Bundesliga Fantasy offers prizes throughout the season, giving managers several chances to win.

The overall Bundesliga Fantasy League rewards the top 20 managers at the end of the campaign.

First place receives two tickets to a Bundesliga match of their choice, including travel and hotel accommodation, a signed Harry Kane 2026/27 Bundesliga shirt and an official Bundesliga match ball, with prizes also awarded further down the standings.

There’s also a 2nd Chance League, which begins on Matchday 15. The top 20 managers in that competition also win prizes, with first place earning two tickets to the 2027 Franz Beckenbauer Supercup (including travel and hotel), a signed Jamal Musiala 2026/27 Bundesliga shirt and an official Bundesliga match ball.

Finally, every Matchday winner receives a signed Bundesliga club shirt from the 2026/27 season, with a different club featured as the prize each round.

What’s new for 2026/27?

Bundesliga Fantasy introduces several new features for the 2026/27 season to help managers make better decisions throughout the campaign.

One of the biggest additions is predicted line-ups, which become available in the Match Centre from the Tuesday before each matchday. They provide an early indication of which players are likely to start, helping managers plan their starting XI and transfers.

The game also features an expanded points catalogue, with a wider range of on-pitch actions contributing to Fantasy scores. Player profiles now display a ‘Points Last Season’ total calculated using the updated scoring system, while the Transfers page can also be sorted and filtered using that statistic.

Elsewhere, the player value calculation has been updated. Market values now take into account how many Fantasy points a player scores compared with their expected or previous average, while playing time also influences price changes. Players who do not feature in a match generally retain their existing value.

Finally, the public league system has been simplified. Managers now choose whether they want to play in Classic, Head-to-Head or Official Club Leagues before being automatically placed into a suitable public league. Head-to-Head play-offs have also been updated, with knockout ties now seeded according to the final league standings, rewarding managers who finish higher during the league phase.

With detailed scoring, flexible transfers and prizes available throughout the campaign, managers have everything they need to start building their squad ahead of Matchday 1.
