The precursor to the Scout Picks is the Scout Squad, in which our in-house team of Marc, Sam, Tom and Neale discuss who they think the best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players are for Gameweek 8.

Scout Squad Gameweek 1 4

The focus is only on the upcoming Gameweek with the Scout Squad, so there’s no medium-term planning involved.

The players who get the most votes are much more likely to make the Scout Picks, although the final XI can’t exceed £83.0m – so occasionally, we have to select cheaper alternatives.

Each of our writers must meet the following requirements for this feature:

  • At least one sub-£5.0m goalkeeper
  • At least one sub-£5.0m defender
  • At least one sub-£6.0m midfielder
  • At least one sub-£7.0m forward
  • No more than three players from the same club

      I'm thinking of this, but I already have Rogers, so I am considering Mbeumo/Tavernier or a few others instead. Not a big fan of doubling up on Chelsea mids although they seem to be doing well and have good fixtures.

      Coin Flip lol and we all seem to be asking the same question.

      Tavernier decent fixtures for the next while.

      Rogers IMO is better value than Palmer, but they are both doing well so double/triple up might still be fine.

      Mbeumo is still doing well despite Man U being a pile of poop. He's nice and cheap though.

      I definitely would at Brightons form.

      Brighton have the most goals scored, and the least goals conceded. Also they beat Arsenal 3-0 at home. Liverpool didn't score in 2 of their last 4 games either so it's not like they are steamrolling anyone.

    The thing that frustrates me the most of benching gross is that we cant know how good liverpool is on defending without szoboszlai. There is no data, he has played every single match in the past 2 years. Being premier league, champions league or fa cup.

      Szobo has sometimes played as a right back and Liverpool hasn't been good defending that side, even Trent used to be a liability. I wouldn't be surprised to see de Cuyper to oustscore Groß when everyone (like me) benches de Cuyper and starts Groß. Will be classic fpl. But easy to make small financial gains 😉

      Personally, I'm done looking into the detail. My impression is that MUN is a basket case with no immediate leadership capable of turning the team into a team. Someone might get a goal here and there but there is nothing that suggests sustainable progress. MUN players are an avoid for me for the foreseeable.
