Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Florent Malouda is “available to play” against Liverpool on Sunday.

The Chelsea boss stressed in his afternoon press conference that Malouda had made a good recovery from the ankle injury that saw him miss Tuesday’s win over Spartak. He went on to confirm that Frank Lampard would miss out on Sunday and would not be considered until the Stamford Bridge clash with Sunderland next weekend. Michael Essien remains a doubt for Sunday with his toe injury still a slight concern.

Cech, Ivanovic, Cole, Terry, Alex, Mikel, Zhirkov, Drogba and Anelka were all confirmed in Ancelotti’s starting lineup. He went on to state that Essien or Ramires and Malouda or Kalou would complete the eleven.

The availability of Malouda comes as a major boost for Fantasy Managers and he would now seem likely to start at Anfield. It’s bittersweet news however – the consideration for Malouda owners now is that he could well miss out in one of Chelsea’s forthcoming home games against Fulham and Sunderland in the next week should he start at Anfield.

Earlier today we had confirmation that Nani would sit out of the Old Trafford encounter with Wolves and remain a doubt for City in midweek. Just moments ago we also had confirmation that Rafael Van der Vaart was out of the Bolton trip, while Aaron Lennon is a doubt for Spurs.

As always, all the very latest team news is being collected as it drops from the Manager’s mouths in our Team News section. Keep popping back and monitor the Twitter feed for the fresh new arrivals.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I think if Malouda is fit, he has to start against Liverpool.

Malouda might well play against Liverpool. But there is a risk it might be for the last 10 minutes.
And we all know the sinking feeling when that happens...

Yeah..but the main point s that things are normal..himself and Kalou have been competing for that position for over a year now..nothing new has developed just because Malouda missed a CL game. Look at Mal's points so far, don't worry..he might even come on and score in one of the games

So you would include Malouda in your starting XI for this weekend?
The Chelsea-Liverpool game is on Sunday, so he has an extra day to recover.
Kalou had an average game in the CL fixture midweek.

The fact malouda starts v Pool is not really good news as chances are of a meagre return.....whilst he will be rested Wednesday v Fulham instead losing out on a possible good return!

My dliema is to keep Torres or bring in another striker even if only for 1 week??? No strikers really shining at the minute!

In the shadow of the news about the Chelsea lineup I noticed that Carew is injured for a few weeks, similar to his counterpart Heskey. This really only leaves Delfouneso at 4.6m to play up front. Possibly an interesting differencial

I need to re-consider then, was planning:-

Malouda & Jara > Arteta and Alex (I would prefer A. Cole).

However now that Malouda may make the game, shall I do:-
Nani & Konchesky > Arteta and Alex? (I could switch Malouda for Nani later).

Seems as though I could be taking too many points hits though!

        Current team is
        Robinson, (Carson)
        Dann, Mummy, Konchesky, (Jara, Perch)
        Malouda, Fab, VDV, Nani, N’zogbia
        Drog, Berb, Carroll

        @raththekid

Fair enough.. Smith certainly does have goals in him, puts himself about a fair bit (in a good way for the most part), and keeps possession better than most players I've seen at FGR.

(F)Lawless - haha, we used to always call him Clueless! 😉

It seems like we are sticking with Hockaday, to the displeasure of the majority of fans, but have sacked our assistant manager for some reason.... Fans pretty unhappy at the moment, a good few are boycotting the home games and have staged protests around the town!

Dunno exactly what else they expect though, other than a relegation dogfight. We have a squad assembled based on the assumption that we would be playing in the BSquare South, where we should be if it weren't for Salisbury, and up until very recently, we had absolutely no money to invest in better players.

Fans boycotting games? Your attendances must be in single figures 😉

So do you have money to inest now?

We are making about a £300k loss per season. I honestly think we might not have a club right now if it weren't for money from FA Trophy Final 2008, Play-Off final 2009, FA Cup 3rd round last season, Woolford to Scunthorpe a couple of years ago and Brodie to Crawley.

It's very worrying that despite all that we are making massive losses. If we have a quiet season and no stars to sell on we are screwed.

50-50. arteta will get the 'cheaper points' like penalties and bps. cahill a more attacking position. i still don't like how cahill only scores headers personally. i'd want more for 8.5mil.

you'd be a harsh boss. he comes off after scoring a hat-trick of headers and you'd bench him next game. his goal against Liverpool was a good header by the way

obviously not. i don't like how (for fpl purposes) most of his goals rely on a pin-point baines crosses. for 8.5 mil it would be nice if he scored more types of goals, like the liverpool one, to make him more of a threat and more appealing for fpl.

How does everyone read the VDV news? Do we think its likely to be an ongoing problem, or is he back mid-week?

I think he may miss more games. Hamstrings are dodgy, just ask Fabregas

        2 quick questions:

        1. how likely is Bale to play the next 3 matches?

        2. how likely is Berbatov to be rested this GW?

          2. Not a prayer. Macheda, Owen and Rooney all out/doubts.

        Team in a few weeks:

Jarvis because he is guaranteed starts, Milijas on the otherhand is not.

Nolan because he is more likely to score than Ethers. Ethers tends to be a assist machine, not goal machine.

Chelsea's defence is confusing at the moment?

Would rather go for Ivanovic short term for attacking potential, but not if he'll make way midweek for Bos, but then is there a chance Alex could make way and Ivanovic goes back to CB?

Do you think the back four of
        Ivan Alex terry Cole

Will be their first choice every week if they're all fit?

In modern football there is only about 4-5 games in a season when the best 11 are selected.
The reality is players will be rotated as its a squad game.

So Chelsea wont be picking there best defence even if all are fully fit very often.

Remember Chelsea under Mourinho, though? He hardly ever rotated players. He'd play his first 11 in the Rumbelows Cup quite often. Didn't Lampard play something like 150 consecutive league games, a PL outfield player record? Not bad for a fat lad...

Cor blimey what a head mash this week is ! !

        Current team is
        Foster (Jaask)
        Dann, Jags, Elmo (figueroa, Foley)
        Malouda, Bale, Brunt, Nasri (Nani)
        Chamakh, Carroll, Drogs

Should I tinker with the injury doubts/outs? Thoughts please…oh and I have £3m+ in the bank...cheers

Surely every player is going to get rotated for at least 1 of these 3 upcoming games. Worrying about it is like worrying if the sun is going to come up.

I'm just trying to pick the players who i think will score best over those 3 fixtures regardless of whether they miss 1 game. Don't have a problem with point hits (i just took one 😉 )

              Predictable moves.

              Vidic or Jagielka into defence.
              Arteta into midfield 😉

Predictable in the context of this site perhaps, but not in the context of the overall game, or our rivalries with players who don't use this site.

I did Nani out, Arteta in, incidentally.

Not sure why everyone assuming that there is going to be mass rotation over the next week... Teams playing in Europe regularly play virtually the same side three times in a week, no difference here.

A Cole looks prime for a rest 🙁

Ivanovic will be benched I reckon for Bos Midweek and then maybe Cole Saturday week.

Carlo had the perfect opportunity to rest A Cole against Moscow. Not sure he ever intends on resting him. Plus we dont really have another LB. Zhirkov may slot in but I don't see it.

they needed cole in midweek. with essien and terry needing a rest possible left backs zhirkov and ferreira had to play elsewhere.
