With his red card in the loss to Everton, it’s Bolton’s David Wheater who took Saturday’s disciplinary headlines. His clumsy lunge on Everton’s Diniyar Bilyaletdinov resulted in his second red of the season, earning him an immediate three-match ban which is topped up with an additional match, due to the previous red. Wheater will now serve a band from gameweeks 14 to 17 (tot, AVL, ful, bla) returning to contention on Boxing Day. Having filled in at right-back today, his absence is set to leave Bolton a little short following the injury to Joe Riley. The return of Dedryck Boyata from his own setback, can’t come soon enough for Owen Coyle.

Joining Wheater on the ban list for next weekend is Newcastle’s Jonas Gutierrez; his pair of yellows for Newcastle at Old Trafford means he’ll be missing when Chelsea visit St James’ Park next weekend. Meanwhile, despite a fifth yellow for John Terry in the 3-0 win over Wolves, the Chelsea skipper will still make that fixture. Strategic or not, his one match suspension will rule him out of the Carling Cup clash with Liverpool on Tuesday making him eligible for the Newcastle clash.

On to the Suspension Tightrope, and we have a couple of willing volunteers to take Terry’s vacated space, with Yohan Cabaye of Newcastle and Wolves’ Karl Henry joining party. Both earned their fourth yellows, picked up in the games against Manchester United and Chelsea respectively.

Gameweek 14 Bans

  • Antolin Alcaraz (Wigan) – FA Charge (1 remaining match)
  • David Wheater (Bolton) – 1 Red for serious foul play (First of 4 matches)
  • Jonas Gutierrez (Newcastle) – 1 Red for 2 bookings (1 match)

Suspension Tightrope – Four Bookings

  • Gabby Agbonlahor (Aston Villa)
  • Stiliyan Petrov (Aston Villa)
  • Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
  • Brede Hangeland (Fulham)
  • Steve Sidwell (Fulham)
  • Gareth Barry (Man City)
  • Yohan Cabaye (Newcastle)
  • Ryan Shawcross (Stoke)
  • Glenn Whelan (Stoke)
  • Lee Cattermole (Sunderland)
  • Karl Henry (Wolves)
  • Richard Stearman (Wolves)

Any reason why Klasnic took over from Davies?

Didn't realise Brunt was on them for West Brom. I guess Odemwingie isn't a guarantee this year thus far to play.

Poor old James McArthur. Gets blamed for the penalty last week when it was actually a certain D. Jones at fault, then the credit for Wigan's second today goes to McCarthy, not him.

Ramsey missed loads of chances and lost loads of balls...he just needed that little bit of quality to score big today. Dunno about VDV though...it's such a gamble with him and Bale looks in form.

Yeah it's a toughie, i like ramsey as a player but if he's not returning the points then its a no brainer really. Really cautious about switching to bale but cant ignore his form, as said, a toughie indeed.

Yup, debating VDV>Bale, Rooney>Hernandez, and Walters> Mata....but that's the thing, any one of those players could return and make a HUGE impact. Definitely considering VDV>Bale though....VDV can score big, but he RARELY plays more than 60 mins compared to Bale's 90, and now that JD is doing awesome...i just dunno. Might just go with Gareth and Save $$$

Very true, i can see myself doing the VDV > Bale move if it looks unlikely that VDV will play next week, but if he is, i've no option but to keep because i 'believe' more in him than i do Bale, even though he does play 60 mins alot of the time.
Walters is in my team, and even though when stoke maybe lose, he is usually the guy to grab the one goal they score, so keeping him for a bit longer i reckon.

I definitely would do the rooney to chico move if i did have rooney, totally worth it imo, play further up and grabs almost a goal every game for united.

NBTM below has actually convinced me to keep Rooney..class is class. But you're right, Chich has grabbed something every game he's started. Very tempting, and yet, with Rooney dropping in value...not sure. Rooney bagged an assist and last week was very unfortunate not to grab a goal and assist. What think ye man onion? I'm keeping VDV until Friday with you, I think, but now Rooney is the dilemma....ugh. Wish one of my forwards would get injured to make matters easier lol! (knock on wood)

I actually forgot to write that i think Rooney's fortune may be turning a corner ya know, and he just might be the person to rocket boost things back to how things were at united, i think it would be wise to keep, and having chico beside him can only elevate what rooney can produce anyway, yeah, defo keep, even with his price drop, after being at the game today watching him, he had sharpness wrote all over him.

haha! yeah, an injury sure would make things damn easier wouldn't it, yep, keep VDV till friday see what the news is, people will soon be dumping bale, a bandwagon that will run out of steam early i reckon 🙂

O'Hara has three great home games in 4. Then there is the usual Walters, Larrsson etc.. Personally, i'd give Ramsey one more week as he is playing Wigan and then look to get and then look to get Cabaye or Ben Arfa in.

Yeah i've looked at o'hara, on my watchlist at the moment, just wondered what other people's thoughts would be to replace him with, glad you said him though.

This is a good point actually, i could just give him one more play out next week then get rid for a newcastle mid as they have great fixtures from GW 15-18, Ba is on my radar, and ben arfa more than cabaye 🙂

I'm 0.1 from being able to switch Dyer or Moses to Ben Arfa, vaguely hoping for some irrational price movements which make it workable, otherwise I'll be doing it on two weeks time after a money making switch this week.

Probably all go out the window but if he was within reach I'd be grabbing Ben Arfa right now. He's like Sessegnon but with talent.

Torres is a nightmare - Moses is bad enough being a points flirt at his price, Torres and Suarez are a bloody joke! Every week I think they might explode points-wise but then give nothing. Get rid of Torres and get your first good night's sleep for weeks! 😉

question is, who to replace torres with? im thinking chico, leaving me enough £ to maybe upgrade jones to verm, or better still, upgrade ferguson lol.

I've had a frontline of RVP, Ade, Chico for a while. Done me proud the last few weeks so I'm an advocate of all of those but I'm constantly living in fear of Rooney and Aguero - longterm they must be worthwhile.

Think there'll be a few this week regretting having Ferguson!

haha yeh i know, was foolish to get him just to save money, think i would of learnt after 3 seasons playing this and improving each time, certainly learnt my lesson now, he's going soon.
Yeah aguero and rooney are 'explosively' worrying what they can do and are capable of doing, im also liking that trio of ade, chico and RVP, i have RVP and ade, but really thinking of going torres & ramsey >> mata & Ba.

Thing is with ba, the guy is undeniable, even with the tough fixtures (eve & mci, mnu away!) he still manages to pick up assists when he doesn't score, and goals (today), and as of after next week, his fixtures are golden, and mata is becoming a good fpl player i feel, i had him from the start and got rid not long ago. might have to think about mata tho, but ba i am definitely bringing in i reckon, still differential material also.

    repost from last page

ok since this is a new post

    RMT

    Vorm/Westwood

    Raylor, BAE, Jones, Brown, Woodgate

    Tiote, Sinclair, Allen, VdV, Silva

    Aguero, RvP, Hernandez

0 in bank but 2 frees

plan right now is just to use 1 for Woodgate – McAuley, looking at maybe swpping Westy for Cerny as my other free, should I bother or just save it till next week (when I plan on getting Ben Arfa in, by swapping Brown to Turner)

thus scoring a full 20 less than Young

I'm shipping Bendy out for Ba tonight to beat the price rise... Justification is, regardless of fixtures, Bendy is really bad and Ba seems to be more consistent... Seems like lots of ppl are shipping/knee jerking him in... so I'm not risking the price rise...

    Vorm (Given)
    Walker Santos Enrique (Jones Simpson)
    Silva VDV Drenthe Walters (Dyer)
    RVP Bendtner Adebayor

Not sure where the most pressing transfer is really. 1.6m in the bank which is enough to do a straight swap of Jones to Baines.

I also want Ba but that means Given to Westwood which at the moment gives me 0.2m spare. Ba is going to rise tonight and maybe even again this week so it's pushing it but not sure I want to take an 8 pointer.

May just do Bendtner to Ba and save the Baines transfer for 2 weeks.

    Decisions, decisions...

I saw everyone talking about the VDV/Ade/Bale trinity last week and thought it was overkill. Needless to say, I now want in. Odds of getting both goal and assist on most goals are quite high, fixtures saying there’ll be a few. Bolton at home has made my mind up.

Anyone else coming around to the idea? BTW it’s Ade for Aguero, tomorrow so slow down on those transfers people.

I have VdV and Bale. Not too sure if I want to go Adebayor.. if I do, it will be instead of VdV.

But I think VdV will get more points overall and there are good value forwards for my 3rd slot (ie. Ba, Klasnic, Sturridge etc)

Would be interested in hearing others opinions on this.

I'm starting to look back to midfield to spend the cash. Only one very expensive striker is doing the business, time to load up on the midfield big hitters.

Ideally Ramsey out for someone like Young when his fitness picks up. Gives the Man U cover that's missing in attacking areas.
