With his red card in the loss to Everton, it’s Bolton’s David Wheater who took Saturday’s disciplinary headlines. His clumsy lunge on Everton’s Diniyar Bilyaletdinov resulted in his second red of the season, earning him an immediate three-match ban which is topped up with an additional match, due to the previous red. Wheater will now serve a band from gameweeks 14 to 17 (tot, AVL, ful, bla) returning to contention on Boxing Day. Having filled in at right-back today, his absence is set to leave Bolton a little short following the injury to Joe Riley. The return of Dedryck Boyata from his own setback, can’t come soon enough for Owen Coyle.

Joining Wheater on the ban list for next weekend is Newcastle’s Jonas Gutierrez; his pair of yellows for Newcastle at Old Trafford means he’ll be missing when Chelsea visit St James’ Park next weekend. Meanwhile, despite a fifth yellow for John Terry in the 3-0 win over Wolves, the Chelsea skipper will still make that fixture. Strategic or not, his one match suspension will rule him out of the Carling Cup clash with Liverpool on Tuesday making him eligible for the Newcastle clash.

On to the Suspension Tightrope, and we have a couple of willing volunteers to take Terry’s vacated space, with Yohan Cabaye of Newcastle and Wolves’ Karl Henry joining party. Both earned their fourth yellows, picked up in the games against Manchester United and Chelsea respectively.

Gameweek 14 Bans

  • Antolin Alcaraz (Wigan) – FA Charge (1 remaining match)
  • David Wheater (Bolton) – 1 Red for serious foul play (First of 4 matches)
  • Jonas Gutierrez (Newcastle) – 1 Red for 2 bookings (1 match)

Suspension Tightrope – Four Bookings

  • Gabby Agbonlahor (Aston Villa)
  • Stiliyan Petrov (Aston Villa)
  • Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
  • Brede Hangeland (Fulham)
  • Steve Sidwell (Fulham)
  • Gareth Barry (Man City)
  • Yohan Cabaye (Newcastle)
  • Ryan Shawcross (Stoke)
  • Glenn Whelan (Stoke)
  • Lee Cattermole (Sunderland)
  • Karl Henry (Wolves)
  • Richard Stearman (Wolves)

Considering ditching Ramsey . Top contenders based on members area stats are Ohara and Larson. Larson is consistent h and a. Ohara rotates perfectly with dyer and has amazing stats. Any thoughts on which to go for?

    At the moment I have
    Vorm, Krul
    BAE, Brown, Enrique, (ShawX, Raylor)
    Walters, VDV, Mata, Silva (Dyer)
    RVP, Crouch, Adebayor

I have too many Stoke players although both Crouch and Walters have done me well in the last few weeks. Should I get rid of ShawX or hold onto him and who would be a suitable replacement?
They haveEverton in the next game who have found some favourable fixtures, should I replace Crouch even though he is doing well instead of having 2 Stoke strikers?

VDV injury is it severe?(he seems to have an amazing recovery rate but should I swap him for someone else considering I have 3 Spurs players. Sess or Larson as possible replacements although I can't imagine them outscoring VDV but the free money could bolster another position.

He was going for the ball, Rigby.

Rooney is a hothead and deserved to go against Montenegro, or whoever it was they were playing, and should have gone last year for the elbow that the ref saw but never punished.

But yesterdays incident did not look like he was lashing out at Guttierez (I think it was him).

Ref handled it correctly in my opinion.

Coloccini was a gentleman,it was no BIG deal in English football. I think it would have been at least a yellow in an international where the player would have rolled around holding his face. I think you are all a bit right.

Rooney is however a liability in internationals, and if playing again, will in my opinion leave us short on the pitch at a vital moment.

        No, it really isn't
Somebody posted on here earlier this week that the 3 have averaged 21 in the last 6 weeks, plus the 19/20 points they got this week.
Name a better combo of 2 midfielders + a striker for a similar price?
I don't have the 3 but it is hardly OVERLOAD!!!!!!

but you are quoting Spurs' best winning streak for 100 years!!!!!!!!!.......around the corner will be a baron spell Spurs ALWAYS do it, putting these three in is trying to get last months points next month - It aint gonna happen......plus the fact that DVD is a permanent injury doubt.

It is 2011 now, the fact that they have their biggest winning streak in 100 years is irrelevant...this isn't the same Spurs team of the past 100 years 😐
You still haven't named a better combo btw.
No point having players out of form that might come good as opposed to players in form and might go bad..

nobody knows who will score more than anyone else during the upcoming weeks so naming players would be irelevant........but having two mids and an attacker from one team (any team) is putting too many eggs in one dodgy basket.

          Agreed.

Over the next 10 gw's the 4 teams to load up with are Man U, Everton, Liverpool and Spurs.

You've got the double gw to take into coinsideration as well as form.

Thanks Anti Ipswich. I and a lot of QPR fans predicted a Norwich win yesterday so it wasn't a major surprise and I'm not really too down about it. I even went on VItal Norwich forum and said I think you'd win 2-1.

SWP fell over far too much for my liking and we defended badly for both goals but, other than that, I thought we played really well and probably deserved a share of the points.

Like Shearer and Lawrenson said last night on MOTD,I too think we'll both stay up this season and I'd settle for that when all is said and done.

Lets hope you and I will still have the option of picking our own teams players for our FPL teams next season.

Exactly. I thought you guys certainly challenged us for the whole game and teams have come away playing worse than you guys (Sunderland and Swansea come to mind). I was wondering whether Barton would have made much of an impact on the game had he played. Even so, it was a very enjoyable game, not because we won, but because it was always open and both sides looked like they would have won for much of the game

            I enjoyed watching it too.

Barton and Kenny would have helped but it is what it is and you have to deal with injures and suspensions. Carrow Rd is a bit of a jinxed ground for us too.

I actually am hoping that all 3 promoted teams stay up this season as I think we all have much more to offer than some of the teams already here (Notlob, Wigan, Blackburn).

Just attack Citeh next week, mate. They showed at Loftus Rd that they don't like it up em!

yes, stood by Rooney since the start and his situation does not appear to be improving.

A mistake that i made last year was hanging on to Drogba for too long, somehow, this is starting to feel very similar.

Rooney > Ade (possibly an early transfer to beat any rise)

Ade has form and fixtures, therefore, has as much if not more potential to score as well as Rooney

Hernandez has been getting the goals and baps lately.

I think its fair to say its safe to get rid of Rooney now though. I'd love to do Rooney to Aguero this week (and I'd have enough to do Bendy to Adebayor too) but need to see what happens with Kun tomorrow and Tuesday first.

If he's rested in the cup then I think he's the guy to get in for GW14 instead of Rooney.

      RVP v Wigan mate.

He was due a blank game at some point. Just sucked that it was yesterday, but it was inevitable. However, unlike Rooney or Drogba, whose blips last for months, RVP rarely has two bad games in a row.

I'd still trust him with the armband next week.

That said, if Kun looks like playing in GW14 then he's a good bet against Norwich too.

Not sure what to do with VDV ... have a feeling his great run is over, he normally scores big in 4-6 week patches (which this time theoretically ended at QPR). Plus his price is falling sharply.

Bale seems to be less injury prone and also banging the points in, but then again I have my 2,2,2 doubts over him. Then Walcott who isn't scoring that big yet either 😐

I did Bale to VdV yesterday and not rushing to get VdV back yet.

I would rather have Bale and Adebayor now and having VdV makes that harder to achieve. Yes Bale will get blasts of 2's but I think having him and Ade will equalise the big score threat that VdV poses.

If you have RVP you don't really need Walcott. One or t'other really.

And like you said VdV is going down in price, Bale (and Ade) are going to keep rising.......

Good shout. Larson is a regular 5-7 pointer and Sunderlands top scorer. They are up against it at the minute, but if Bruce is backed in Jan and the Cats land the decent striker they clearly need (sorry Bendtner fans), then we could see more assists for Seb.

Terry's fifth yellow keeps him out of the cup game! 😡 It's about time league cards were a league ban. So many time prem players "Win" their fifth yellow the game before the 3rd round of the FAcup when up against lower league opposition which they would almost certainly not have played in anyway.

It was this sort of nonsense I joined the FA fan's forum to voice an opinion about. NOT to fill out endless forms designed to sell me crap.

Think you need to bite the bullet and downgrade Rooney. Ade or Chicarito are good options at the minute. The former in particular gives you a decent pot of cash then to look at your midfield. Maybe upgrade Moses and Allen to Ben Arfa and Ramsey? Or maybe look to get in P Jones/ Man City defs?

I have been more happy with sturridge recently, but I feel he is approaching some bad fixtures.
So should I swap him for Adebayor/Ba/Hernandez?

Which one?! I'm most tempted by Adebayor, then I may do Helguson > Ba after next week...
