Suspension Tightrope – Wheater Intolerance

With his red card in the loss to Everton, it’s Bolton’s David Wheater who took Saturday’s disciplinary headlines. His clumsy lunge on Everton’s Diniyar Bilyaletdinov resulted in his second red of the season, earning him an immediate three-match ban which is topped up with an additional match, due to the previous red. Wheater will now serve a band from gameweeks 14 to 17 (tot, AVL, ful, bla) returning to contention on Boxing Day. Having filled in at right-back today, his absence is set to leave Bolton a little short following the injury to Joe Riley. The return of Dedryck Boyata from his own setback, can’t come soon enough for Owen Coyle.

Joining Wheater on the ban list for next weekend is Newcastle’s Jonas Gutierrez; his pair of yellows for Newcastle at Old Trafford means he’ll be missing when Chelsea visit St James’ Park next weekend. Meanwhile, despite a fifth yellow for John Terry in the 3-0 win over Wolves, the Chelsea skipper will still make that fixture. Strategic or not, his one match suspension will rule him out of the Carling Cup clash with Liverpool on Tuesday making him eligible for the Newcastle clash.

On to the Suspension Tightrope, and we have a couple of willing volunteers to take Terry’s vacated space, with Yohan Cabaye of Newcastle and Wolves’ Karl Henry joining party. Both earned their fourth yellows, picked up in the games against Manchester United and Chelsea respectively.

      One negative is if Rooney starts firing again it will be difficult to get him back for Ba/Ade without using 3-4 transfers

    Any news on how long Drenthe will be out for? I can't afford to carry an injured player as well as having VDV potentially missing. Got lucky with my bench this weekend with Sturridge's performance but I can't see Pilkington lighting up Citeh next weekend if he has to be used...

      Im on 21 with just Vorm and Silva and Enrique to play! Mind I got Ben Arfa to come off the bench so make that 26! Stil not very good at all.. Sess and Brunt did nothing and my boys at the back also got an average of 1.5 between them!

    Anyone got any fantasy football crackpots in their mini-leagues? One of my friends in my mini-league is a decent, normal guy in 'real life', but goes completely wacko with anything concerned with FPL! He runs the league like a Nazi - no banter allowed on threat of deleting you from the league! - and he's just deleted himself from the league because he couldn't take a little jibe I sent his way in the forum! Here's how it played out:

    Him: And with RVP...well everyone has him now so there's no differential. I'll be making big changes to my team as I don't really want the same players as everyone else has - no fun in that!

    Me: Wow! I see your team is very different! You dropped one player that we all have, and picked up another player that we all have! -1 + 1 = 0.

    Him: And I might actually respond if I gave a shit.

    (Next action was deleting himself from the league...)

    Phew! Some people take this game too seriously! Anyone else know someone or are someone like this?

            He transferred out VDV (who we all had) to Bale (who none of us had), but then transferred in Adebayor (who we all had).

    I got Sturridge at 6.9 and he's now gone down to 6.6, assuming he rises in the next week do I only get half of the rise back again or do I get the whole .1 up until he hits 6.9 again?

      You're making it way too complicated.

      The only two relevant factors are:

      What did you pay?
      What is he worth now?

      So you paid 6.9.

      He is currently 6.6, so your selling value is 6.6. When he goes up to 6.7, your selling value will be 6.7. And so on.
