And so the power shifts once again.

I can barely remember witnessing such upheaval: where we’ve had to re-consider where our big-money is spent and switch our sights, not only due to form, but simply availability.

We started the season coveting Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Then Diego Costa emerged, followed swiftly by Eden Hazard as Chelsea blossomed. Now Harry Kane, with seven goals in five, becomes a priority.

While these players battle for recognition in our squads, Sergio Aguero was considered by most as a mainstay: a factor that required little consideration.

That theory wavered back in Gameweek 3 but today’s events may have changed it for good.

Aguero had not served a suspension until this season. Now he is set to miss at least seven weeks of this campaign before the turn of the year. Few, if any, could have anticipated that.

Hours after the bombshell at the Etihad, Alexis Sanchez then provided his own explosion.

We always knew the dangers: deployed up front by Arsene Wenger, he has always been part of the heavy-hitter debate.

But, with heads turned by Chelsea’s faultless form and the promise from Eden Hazard, some, including this Fantasy manager, chose to lose Sanchez’ special talent, keeping Aguero locked into our attacks.

Now, with the City striker being ejected from squads throughout the land, the sacrifices required to gain the likes of Hazard, Costa and Marcos Alonso – all so alluring with Chelsea’s form and fixtures – no longer apply.

When I showed Sanchez the exit ahead of Gameweek 12, opting to sell Aguero was something I pondered, but quickly dismissed.

Today’s events punished that particular decision. They also force us re-examine the established thinking.

We are so set on Aguero. His place is so cemented in Fantasy Football folkore, the prospect of progressing through a season, or even a period of Gameweeks without him almost seems unthinkable.

But while a saintly Costa is scoring goals and avoiding the booking that will see him serve a one-match ban, we’ve seen Aguero inexplicably become an unreliable hothead.

We can’t begin to fathom how those roles have been reversed. We can only react to what we’ve now been dealt.

While those without Sanchez are denied the convenience of carrying out a like-for-like swap for Aguero, even with the cost of an additional transfer, it will likely prove a popular route.

Acquiring Sanchez no longer comes packaged with such sacrifice now that Aguero is out of the equation, his millions available to us.

In Gameweek 4 we formed plans to sell a suspended Aguero and bring him back two weeks later. This time around the landscape may have changed.

As of today, it seems likely that few will be forgoing Sanchez for Aguero should that decision ever arise again.

Although it’s almost folly to make such predictions in a season that refuses to allow us to settle in our thinking.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

First time I can remember doing a -8 in a while and probably earliest one I've ever done in 6 years on FPL!

    Heaton
    Clyne Amat Vertonghen
    Firmino Capoue Sanchez Hazard
    Austin Kane Costa

    Pickford Fletcher Pieters Evans

Done Gundogan, Arnoutavic & Aguero > Fletcher, Sanchez & Costa

How should I be feeling this morning after that?

All done last night as couldn't afford otherwise to do it.

Gundogan & Arnoutavic not doing a lot & tough fixs & Aguero out for 4 games so seemed obvious.

Think of it this way - if you captain the right person they pay for themselves after 60 minutes, so really it's a -4. I did that to bring Kane and Costa in last week, otherwise I'd have been stuck with Deeney and Aguero.

If you have the funds I personally think Defoe is a better choice considering he has zero to little risk of rotation. But frankly speaking there aren't any better option around the Austin price range imo.

Scored well enough in the last home game and previous to this season he did better at home than away.

I guess it depends on how far back you wish to judge records and how you view current form.

Everyone was doing Sanchez to Hazard, and I made sure I found a way to keep both. Now he's back in everyone's team.

Then I did Kun to Kane when his ownership was still in single digits and now everyone's following suit.

This week I'm getting Ibra in. I'm half-expecting a Costa booking and lots of ship jumpers again next week.

Guess I've been very lucky with my 'differentials'

Yes, agree, last two weeks have been very annoying, squeezed Kane, Aguero, Hazard and Sanchez into the same team a couple of weeks ago and was hoping that it wouldn't be the norm.

Coutinho getting injured and Aguero going mental has just opened up a route to them all now so it will be the norm.

Own Costa now but if he does get booked he will become Ibra (like you say) so I guess people are thinking along those lines too, I guess you have to try to get on very early if you smell any sort of form this year.

I have the same problem. Steadily falling down the ranks purely on picking wrong captain while team scores well.

This week Austin over Sanchez really hurt.

Offensively and defensively, it's probably a good idea to stay clear of City at the moment from an FPL perspective... Thoughts?

Defensively, they don't look a good source of points at the minute. Offensively, I want to see how they line up without Agüero.

I guess the question is do they do a like-for-like replacement in Iheanacho or a false 9 in KDB. And with Fernandinho out Gundogan may be forced to sit a little deeper and join the attacks less.

It'll be a real punt. I know he did well the last time round. But he looked off yesterday and Pep may fancy KDB up front.

like how pool.plays today and how firmino does
        today

think it will be between .sanchez haz or firm

WC active - how's it look? Just can't see a way to have a Che, Ars, Tot defender...

    Foster Grant
    Cedric Lovren Ward Nyom Amat
    Haz Sanch Firm Siggy Fletcher
    Costa Kane Austin
    £0 bank

Think that picks itself - can't really justify downgrading Siggy to fund Alonso

I know you've got nothing to play with, but on a wildcard I'd think very hard about whether I want to buy/keep Nyom (and I say that as an owner).
