With the Sky Sport Fantasy Football game now up and running, we have dedicated out first Rate My Team article of the season to the format.
Please use this article to submit your teams for feedback. Also please do offer advice to those submitting teams.
I’ll be covering the Sky game throughout the season with weekly articles, as well as analysis on Man of the Match awards and other bonus data, to help guide your selections and tactics.
For a beginners guide to the Sky game I recommend reading this article by Buffrey, which outlines the key difference with the Fantasy Premier League as well as the basic rules and strategies.
In addition, in our Sky game launch article we also announced details of the Fantasy Football Scout league. This can be joined by using the code – 8300422.
To get the Rate My Team discussion started I have put together this very quick team, which is focused around the first three Gameweeks. This is because from Gameweek 4 Sky managers can use a new Overhaul feature (similar to FPL’s wildcard). We will detail this new feature in upcoming articles.
Early on Southampton coverage looks important due to their strong early fixtures (SWA, WHM, hud). I’ve opted for full back Cedric, who looks to be nailed on to start and also offers attacking threat. Pre-season friendlies may help indicate if Jack Stephens at 6.5 is a viable cheap alternative.
Crystal Palace have good fixtures too (HUD, liv, SWA) which puts Wilfried Zaha and Joel Ward in the mix. The Eagles defender looks very cheap and has done well in the past for bonus points. Meanwhile, Zaha is a Man of the Match legend, earning the accolade on seven occasions last season.
I’ve opted for West Bromwich Albion’s Craig Dawson in defence, which is risky given they have started seasons slowly in the past and last season struggled for clean sheets. Nevertheless with a strong trio of early fixtures (BOU, bro, STO) I think he could do well and maybe nick a goal given his aerial prowess.
Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho is tailor made for Sky. He earned nine MotM awards last term, did well for Shots on Target bonus and if he moves to a more central midfield role should also prosper in terms of Sky’s bonus for passing.
I have also gone for a punty double Bournemouth set up with Charlie Daniels and Junior Stanislas. I think the Cherries will have goals in them season long and home to Watford in Gameweek 2 looks tasty – both options seem pretty cheap to me.
Finally, I’ve gone for three big forwards who I think will be very popular and offer me some safety in numbers. They also look good for captain rotation through the first three Gameweeks.
Feel free to post your team in the comment section below, offer advice and also discuss any of the issues my selection has raised.

First draft (pre-season/transfer pending)
Forster
Ward, Dawson, Daniels
Eriksen, Stanislas, Zaha, Pogba, Antonio
Lukaku, Jesus
No Kane feels like a risk but it can be fixed after gw3 if its a drastic mistake, plus Kane up top means a Morrison in midfield instead of the above.
