Last week’s posse of bets may have failed to bring home the bacon, but with a fresh note clutched in our determined mitt, we look to pitch our Fantasy thinking against Paddy Power’s odds, in another Flutter.

After a spell of defeats in the run up to Christmas, Stoke have slipped up just once in nine games, and that was a “gimme” at the hands of league leaders City. Although a secreted towel and a long-throw still play a major part in Tony Pulis’ tactics, teams have found ways to counter these methods, forcing Stoke to – whisper it – find quality on the ground. Jon Walters has been at the heart of this, always willing to push up to support the lofty talents of Peter Crouch, his prowess from the spot have seen Walters simmer as a strong mid-price midfield option all season. In the Picks again this week, Paddy post 4/1 on Walters to score and Stoke to gain a cleansheet against visiting West Brom, and thus our weeks tenner is broken, with £2 laid down.

Having missed five games this season, Steven Fletcher has had to work hard to rack up his impressive 81 Fantasy Premier League tally. Fletcher undoubtedly offers exceptional value for FPL managers and punters alike, and Paddy go 100/30 for him to score and Wolves to win against rivals Villa this weekend. Given that Fletcher has proved deadly in the air this term, we prefer to take a punt on him to score with a header at 8/1 for a quid.

Stephane Sessegnon may well be the key to Martin O’Neil’s Sunderland revival. To be fair to Steve Bruce, Sessegnon was performing well enough before he was turfed out, but there’s something about O’Neill that’s squeezed an end product from the lively attacker, to accompany the pace and trickery. Subject to heavy transfer activity in recent weeks, Fantasy managers will expect Sessegnon to feature with either goal or assist as Swansea visit the Black Cats, even though the visitors have put together a strong run of form of late. A Sessegnon goal and assist double at 10/1 is worth a £2 stake.

Our final market revolves around the glitzy world of celebrity Twitterer Joey Barton. The QPR skipper is not quite the Punch and Judy villain that Mario Balotelli has become, but nonetheless, he’s a great entertainer with his antics and indiscretions on and off the pitch. Paddy are tempting us in here with a “will he, won’t he” bet. Barton to avoid a yellow card and get a goal against Wigan is at 5/1. Since he’s racked up 8 cards in 18 games, this would normally be too much of a risk, but new managers can often bring out the best in players and change any leopard’s spots. We may even see Adel Taarabt’s ego humbled with Mark Hughes’ arrival – then again. If you want to firmly back a QPR revival under Hughes, Paddy are offing 14/1 on Barton to score and Rangers to earn the win against the visiting Latics. That’s well worth a sniff and earns our final stake slice.

Money Back Special

Paddy fast forward to Sunday’s big encounters to offer us a pair of Money Back Specials. If four or more goals are scored in City’s clash with Spurs they are refunding all losing first /last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on that match. They’re taking the same stance on the Arsenal vs United clash at the Emirates, so if Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie let loose, you could be line for a refund on your punt.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to this betting lark and new to Paddy Power then you can take up any of these odds and offers and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

    I just moved the (C) off Van Persie and put it on Rooney.

    This can only end in disaster.

        Seriously, I think it's time we all got together conclusively solved RVP v Rooney for the Captain this week.

        I'm going Rooney because:

        1. He has a good scoring record v Arsenal
        2. I think Man Utd will have more reason to attack, because of the Man City result earlier (whatever the score).
        3. Man Utd look stronger in defence atm.

        However, I can't help feeling like this is the riskier option...

          Kind of agree with this analysis...
          Think its much more likely that UTD scores a coupe of goals or more than Arsenal.

          But:
          PAddyPower odds for 2 or more goals:
          RvP 6-1
          Roo 7-1

    My WC team:

    VORM Mignolet
    Cahill - R. Taylor - Skrtl - Kelly - Shotton
    Dempsey - Silva - Bale - Sigurdsson - McClean
    Sturridge - Rooney - RvP

    0.0 GBP in the bank.

    Any good? Will probably get Aguero for Rooney (or RvP) after couple of rounds, and want to get Kompany instead of Skrtl.
    Could I do better? or is this the perfect team? Will Dempsey do anything or is he a waste of space?

    Starting Shotton but that means my bench order better be set-- I can't decide

    J Evans - no I think Arsenal will score, and Evans is not a scoring threat
    BAE - no CS but could get assist or BPs?
    Pilky - interesting but will he play? And vs. Chelsea bad fixture

      I'm really not seeing Vorm/Lindegaard, sorry. I've gotten rid of all Swansea as all their handy home games are finished and when they lose the ball they're not overly convincing (as you would expect from a Championship side). They're doing well and I like them, but I think it's time to cash in. As for Lindegaard, I suppose I see him playing for the time being but the fixtures aren't great and there is a chance De Gea could replace him at some point. You want a keeper you know will play.

      Dembele & Sa out, I'd expect Dempsey to be pushing well forward.

      Dont get the buzz bout Fletcher at all, Why waste your head around picking a team when you can have Fergie on the bench and a good rotating back 3? Saves .5
      Just my thoughts

    Silva Dempsey Sessegon (C) Valencia (Fergie)
    Rooney RVP (Sturridge)
    Thoughts on wildcard too, any major changes to be made, all comments welcome

      Keepers good
      Defence solid although dont like the fulham double. maybe senderos -> Simpson
      Ferguson needs to be changed to moses or at least mcclean imo
      Forwards nice

      For this week I'd bring Studge of the bench and bench kelly. Don't like the fulham double against newcastle. If those players in brackets are who you're benching that is.
      Also i'd captain Rooney or dempsey over sess. Just my opinion

    Someone talk me out of taking this hit: I'm wildcarding in 2 weeks for goodness sake!

    Westwood & Ramsey -> Mignolet & Sessegnon

    Only 0.2m in the bank and as I bought Ramsey at 6.3 I'm 0.1m short of getting Sess in a straight swap. Westwood -> Mignolet finds the extra 0.1m and means I have a keeper with a decent fixture rather than Ruddy. So, it's either:

    a) Westwood & Ramsey -> Mignolet & Sessegnon (4 points), or
    b) Reo-Coker -> Mclean (playing 3-5-2),
    c) Ade -> Sturridge (playing 3-4-3), or
    d) Westwood -> Mignolet

    Which is best??

    Ruddy
    JEvans, Simpson, Wilkinson, Caulker
    Nani, Bale, Dempsey, Ramsey
    Rooney, RVP

    Westwood, BAE, Reo-Coker, Adebayor
    Bank 0.2m

      because he's a good player and itd be silly to get rid of him for just this week, especially considering how much he has risen in price

    Ahoy hoy! My first post after lurking for a looooooong time is born of madness and uncertainty...

    I am currently benching RVP for Holy Moses this week as I think Fergie will park the bus and HM is due to go nuts one of these weeks, also I am doubling on MU defence. Anyone agree this is a calculated risk or is this an insane gamble?

      Fergie doesn't park buses.... Also, Moses isn't a bad punt but he's due nothing.

      Would never bench RVP, no matter who he's playing. Just my opinion

      My feeling is the other way around, ie that Arsenal and United will score (or leak, depending on how you look at it) goals but that City and Spurs both are quite likely to approach their game very carefully.

      Opinions gratefully received.

      I think Fergie will not want to lose the game first and foremost - he has parked the bus a few times this season particularly in the post 6-1 period and how ever much they come out to win the game Arsenal will be conscious of the 8-2.

      On the other hand Spurs could well take a nothing to lose approach at the Etihad and if they score first it could be an open game.

      I may be entirely wrong and I am putting all my eggs in a dodgy Moses basket but sometimes I tire of hedging. Roll on next week.
