Japan and Colombia have been backed by Fantasy managers to get positive results from the Group H finale, and progress to the World Cup knockout stages.

James Rodriguez (£9.0m) is the most high-profile asset in action this afternoon with 11.5 percent picking him against Senegal. Despite registering two assists in Colombia’s convincing 3-0 win over Poland, the Real Madrid midfielder has not earned an increase in ownership since Gameround 2.

However, the most popular player in the Group H finale is still Carlos Sanchez (£4.5m), who is expected to return from his one-match suspension earned after being red-carded against Japan.

Colombia’s opponents Senegal are once again not particularly fashionable with Fantasy managers. No player has higher ownership levels than midfielder Salif Sane (£4.5m) who sits in just 5.9 percent of squads. Youssouf Sabaly (£4.0m) remains owned by 4.5 percent of managers.

In the other Group H fixture, Japan’s budget options have proved the most popular, although no player in the match is owned by more than a tenth of McDonald’s FIFA World Cup Fantasy managers.

Takashi Inui (£4.5m) will be the main focus after he scored and assisted in the 2-2 draw with Senegal. His ownership has just about doubled since Gameround 2, rising to 7.1 percent.

In the same number of squads is full-back Hiroki Sakai (£4.0m). A sure starter, he is yet to get a Fantasy return in Russia but registered three assists in qualifying.

Already eliminated Poland have been almost completely deserted by Fantasy managers. Robert Lewandowski (£9.5m) remains their most popular player but has lost three percent ownership since Gameround 2.

First complete draft for RO16. WC in hand and planning to play bench boost.

    Pickford Courtois
    Ramos RRod Miranda Fagner Granqvist
    Isco Modric Quintero Claesson Gazinsky
    Kane Neymar Hazard

Disclaimer: I hate both Gazinsky and Fagner, but can't find the money/players to downgrade Neymar and get Coutinho+1 in midfield. Objective was to maximize number of penalty takers (7 by my calculations) and try to get no fodder (hence hating Gazinsky) as I will be playing BB. I feel like GKs are overkill but can't look past them for a possible double clean sheet (maybe Alisson but I already have double Brazil in defence).

    1. squ1rrel
      • 11 Years
      7 years, 6 months ago

I'm playing Bench Boost as well, but going lighter on the defense and keepers and heavier on the midfield. My mids are

      Isco - Modric - Coutinho - Quintero - Lingard

Also I have Kane - Kaku - Costa as my forwards. Not sure Neymar is worth it, and can you explain why Hazard over Kaku?

      1. JLAEST
        • 11 Years
        7 years, 6 months ago

I see most are going lighter on defense but I wanted to 1) try to get a clean sheet or two (which is unrealistic with the likes of Sweden and double Swiss as I see some) and 2) maximize penalties (hence Ramos, Granqvist and

That’s actually my dream midfield but I just can’t fins budget for it.

I’m going Neymar since I think he’s more than due and Costa risks flopping again and being subbed early.

Hazard over Kaku is unpopular, but I think penalties are going to keep showing up like mushrooms in this tournament
