Captains

Captain poll wide open for Double Gameweek 35

We are set for another wide open captaincy debate for Double Gameweek 35 of Fantasy Premier League.

There are a number of teams with two fixtures, but very few of those are particularly appealing – so it’s possible that Fantasy managers may have to turn to single Gameweek options.

You can now vote in our latest poll embedded below or in the sidebar.

Manchester City have arguably two of the hardest meetings of the season in their attempt to retain the Premier League title.

First, they host Spurs before travelling to face their city rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The form of Raheem Sterling (£11.5m) could see him receive some attention but his record in matches against the top-six and the fact that he remains a rotation risk may put people off.

Likewise, Sergio Aguero‘s (£11.7m) chances of starting both Double Gameweek 35 matches seem low at this stage, especially as his services will probably be required in midweek Champions League action.

For the same reason, options such as Son Heung-min (£8.8m) could be hard to captain, considering he was named on the bench in Spurs’ Double Gameweek 34 win over Huddersfield.

Manchester United are in a similar position as they must travel to Everton, who have five clean sheets in their last seven, and host in-form Manchester City.

Arguably, the team with the best set of fixtures in Double Gameweek 35 is Wolves as they host Brighton and Arsenal.

Neither of their next two opponents have been particularly strong on their travels this season, while Wolves themselves have won four of their last five at Molineux, scoring 12 goals and conceding five times in that run.

That could see Raúl Jiménez (£6.9m) or even Diogo Jota (£6.2m) trusted with the armband by those looking for a pragmatic differential option.

Watford also have some appealing fixtures with a trip to Huddersfield and a home meeting with Southampton.

However, with Troy Deeney (£5.9m) now suspended and Gerard Deulofeu‘s (£5.6m) fitness situation currently unclear, backing the Hornets may prove difficult.

Arguably, the most attractive fixture of Double Gameweek 35, is Liverpool’s trip to Cardiff.

The Bluebirds have conceded at least two in seven of their last eight league matches, while the Reds are fresh off the back of defeating Chelsea 2-0.

They may only have one fixture in Double Gameweek 35, but the case for captaining either one of Mohamed Salah (£13.2m) or Sadio Mané (£10.1m) will be strong.

Could I get some thoughts on:
Dunk and Deeney -> Yoshida and Wilson (for a hit)?

    - It would mean I have 3 southampton defenders for BB35

I'd probably go Kiko instead if I already had 2 Saints, budget permitting.

Liverpool v Man City for the league is a no brainer for Man u fans - it's Man City all the way.

A couple of tougher questions would be:
      1. Which would you prefer:
      a. Man Utd beating Man City and it ends up securing CL football for Man Utd but ends up being the result that wins Liverpool the league.
b.Man Utd losing to Man City, with Man City winning the league and Man Utd finish 5th.

      2. Which would you prefer?
      a. Man City quadruple
      b. Liverpool win the league

I’ve looked at downgrading others to maybe try fitting in Wilson or Firmino but can’t justify getting shot of the likes of Salah,Son,Erikson,KDB or Aguero so yes it looks that way.

Or BB in 36 and use 2FTs to sort out Deeney etc.

Aiming for top 10k; currently 9.5k with Duffy/Dunk to play tonight. BB and TC available.

    Lloris, Foster
    Robertson, Doherty, Duffy, Dunk, Valery*
Mané, De Bruyne, Eriksen, Son, Jota
    Aguero, Jimenez, Deeney*

Squad's not exactly looking too clever now though. 0.2 ITB. Assuming (praying) Valery pulls through...

        Oh yeah, B is (-4).

Will still likely BB in GW35. With Long I'd expect 2 to 4 points with anything more a bonus. And with lack of standout striker options for the rest of the season would probs just bench him GW36-38.

Best mid under 6.3m for GW35 (bench boost)

Fraser? Jota? Redmond? Brooks? Pereyra? Docoure? Deulofeu?

I think you will win. Cardiff are hyping it up, but they are rubbish. They have had good fixtures and still can't accumulate points.

    Ryan, Gunn
    TAA, Doherty, Kola, Duffy, Valery
    Sterling, Son, Eriksen, Martial, JWP
    Aguero, Vardy, Jimenez

Going to BB this week. Is Vardy & Duffy to Firmino and Kiko/Masina worth a -4?

Would then do Eriksen and JWP out for Mane and cheapo the week after.

    Afternoon gents

    A) Deeney, Duffy > Wilson, Yoshida - this option leaves only 0.3itb so limits options for getting in a 3rd LIV player in GW36
    B) Deeney, Duffy > Ings, TAA - plans for all remaining weeks but means 2x LIV def rather than 2x mids
    C) Deeney, Eriksen > Firmino, Redmond/ Doucoure - gets in a 2nd LIV attack ahead of plum fixtures

All options are a -4. I could feasibly hold Duffy for a horrible DGW and avoid a hit (i.e. just do Deeney > Ings) but that doesn't appeal...

    0.4itb
    Foster
    Robbo, Laporte, Doherty
    Salah, Eriksen*, Son, Jota
    Kun (C), Jimi, Deeney*
    (Lloris) (JWP, Duffy*, Valery)

    Thanks - appreciate your advice!

1 is one of my options above too mate

Sacrices have to be made if one wants a decent striker.
If I was going cheap think I would be tempted to go Long to free up funds.
Just accepting what time he gets in the double then he’s bench fodder.

What to do? Thinking BB this week

    Ryan-Foster
    Robbo-Laporte-Doherty-Duffy-Valery
    Mane-Son-Martial-Moura-Jota
    Kun-Vardy-Jim

    3.4 ITB and 1 FT

    Thinking
    a) Vardy to Aub
    b) Vardy to Wilson/King and Son to Salah
    c) Do nothing

Well I think most chose duffy because he has the attacking potential so he's still not a bad pick IMO and Ryan and Foster rotate well so I'm not overly concerned...clean sheets are a crap-shoot it seems

Depends on how much sterling plays this week I think, Pep could mess with all of us and play Bernardo, Sane against Spurs or he could play Jesus and Kun together

Didn't have a wildcard and have been reluctant to sell so actually have salah already. But I see where you are coming from. But then I could do perez-> jimenes instead, or even perez, vardy-> aguero, long (-4). Don't expect much from long, but you never know

Troy >> Gray and all set for bench boost? Now who to Captain? 🙂

    Will take a -4 for Salah(TC) 36.

    Foster. Ryan
    Doherty. TAA. Laporte. Duffy. Bednarek
    Eriksen. Son. Mané. Sterling. Højbjerg
    Deeney. Agüero. Jiménez

Just trying to work out ways of funding moves for better replacements than Dross for Deeney basically!

If you have Eriksen and Son it feels less awful than losing the only attacking asset you have for a team...

But I still don't love the idea of doing it!

Sure I've seen this posted earlier and yet there doesn't appear to be any basis for it? He's only been sold by 6000... way down the list of most transferred out.

But for those that are genuinely selling, it's probably to fund an upgrade on Deeney.
