Lundstram starts as Zaha returns to the Palace line-up

Premier League football returns to Bramall Lane on Sunday as Sheffield United take on Crystal Palace. Kick-off is at 14:00 BST.

Both clubs drew in Gameweek 1, with the Blades snatching a late equaliser against Bournemouth and Roy Hodgson’s side being held by ten-man Everton at Selhurst Park.

Chris Wilder has named an unchanged starting XI from the team that drew 1-1 at the Vitality Stadium, so last week’s goalscorer Billy Sharp (£6.0m) is only among the substitutes.

That also means budget FPL defender John Lundstram (£4.0m) again starts ‘out of position’ in central midfield.

The Blades will line up in a 3-5-2 shape, with David McGoldrick and FPL midfielder Callum Robinson (both £5.5m) leading the line for the hosts.

Wilfried Zaha (£7.0m) makes his first start of 2019/20 for the Eagles, joining Christian Benteke (£6.0m) up front.

Jordan Ayew (£5.0m) is the man to make way.

That is the only alteration that Roy Hodgson has made from Gameweek 1, although Jeffrey Schlupp (£5.5m) has recovered from injury to take his place among the substitutes.

Budget FPL defender Martin Kelly (£4.0m) gets his second start of the campaign at centre-half.

Palace were much better on the road than at Selhurst Park last season and indeed had the sixth-best away record in the top flight.

Only three Premier League clubs scored more goals than the Eagles on their travels (32) in 2018/19.

Fifteen of Sheffield United’s 21 clean sheets last season came in a remarkable second half of the campaign in which they conceded only 14 goals in 23 matches.

The Blades recorded a shut-out in 12 of their 23 home fixtures.

Sheffield United XI (3-5-2): Henderson, Baldock, O’Connell, Egan, Basham, Fleck, Lundstram, Norwood, Stevens, Robinson, McGoldrick.

Crystal Palace XI (4-4-2): Guaita, Ward, Kelly, Dann, Van Aanholt, Milivojevic, McArthur, Townsend, Meyer, Benteke, Zaha.

Lessons learned from Gameweek 2

        Same same, expecting minimum 5p.

Again those proud moments to spend 90 minutes watching promotion team vs CRY because of one FPL player.

IMO: Boly, Monreal, Zouma, Ake, Bertrand, (Walker-Peters).

Bertrand has been the most attacking, I think. I think Boly actually has the best fixtures out of this bunch, unless you go for Walker-Peters?

    Thoughts about wildcarding

When the time is right to wildcard you will know.

Wildcarding early is removing the ‘safety net’ a bit like Batman in the dark night rises - remove the rope and let fear find you.

In conclusion - if you wildcard early you are basically Batman

I was a proponent of early WC but read an interesting piece on twitter this week about saving until GW19. Food for thought.

Good to know but all based on Liverpool playing well and wanting to own 3 Pool players. I think 3 city this year far more valuable

      • 8 Years
      5 years, 2 months ago

Best to use your first WC between GW4-GW8 IMO. It is when information about players is still valuable enough to make lots of moves and take advantage of price rises.

As you go past GW8 then the pool of potential picks decreases significantly (you know 70%+ of the players are not valuable in FPL by then), but also the pool of FPL managers actively managing their team decreases significantly which makes price rises less likely.

    Pope - Button

    Kane - Lacazette - King

Thanks mate, that's what I'm thinking, no stand out problems, but I don't think I've ever wasted a FT before, ever.

I could do KdB and Lacazette to Sterling and £7m or under striker.

But I quite like having KdB and I'm not as sure about Pukki as everyone else, not before GW6 anyway.

Would love to get your thoughts on Pukki

I’m not convinced either but the price rises tempt me to get him

          1. HamezMace
            • 10 Years
            5 years, 2 months ago

I try not to let price rises, or falls, influence my decisions too much, I try to keep things purely down to how much future potential I see in a player.

No doubt Pukki has done well, but honestly Newcastle were awful defensively yesterday, the time Pukki was allowed for his second goal he wouldn't have got that in the Championship!, and the third goal, what a shambles.

Just my opinion, but I look at fixtures going forward more than how the budget options have done in the previous game weeks. The next four games are not going to be fruitful for Pukki.

If you’re the Saints manager, yeah sure build the team around Ings.. he’ll stay fit and probs be a regular all season. Ings is a super addition, but he can’t be the main guy. So I guess they’ve bet on Che or their back to Redmond up front

Would it be a mistake to have Lanzini on WC now and switch over to Pukki around GW 6.

Lanzini has amazing fixtures in the next 3 while Pukki's fixtures look bad.

I want to do it for what it's worth. I will probably hold off for now however. It looks like a tasty move

A conundrum I have been pondering myself. There's a lot of pros and cons on either side.

de Bruyne over the next three fixtures. Three poor defences.

No, because fireman Sam will come in to rescue them from relegation

If they continue to play like they did yesterday then there'll be no stopping them, home form looks likely to be key again for all the bottom teams.

    Kelly, Lundstram, Hanley

    All look like nailed 4.0’s

    This must be unprecedented

Not sure about Kelly long term, surely Tomkins, Sahko would be ahead of him.
Same with Hanley, although he's been captain, so maybe he's safer than we thought in preseason.

Hanley will still likely lose out to Klose once he returns from injury.
