Scoutcast discusses changing of the captaincy guard

Joe is joined by Karam and Tom from Who Got the Assist? for the latest episode of the Scoutcast tonight.

You can watch it on our YouTube channel from 8pm BST to 9pm BST.

As the Champions League is back on our screens, this episode will overlap with the European action and we will try to bring you regular updates from Manchester City and Tottenham’s matches.

Episode 303 marks a slight changing of the guard when it comes to the captaincy.

After a rotation of Liveprool and Manchester City players in the early rounds of the season, Arsenal are starting to creep into the equation some more.

What impact this should have on our transfers and armband decisions will be the task of Joe, Karam and Tom tonight.

After some impressive statistics in recent weeks, Riyad Mahrez (£8.5m) commands some of our time as we discuss if he’s worth signing.

There will also be time to have a weekly look at how defenders are getting on at both ends of the spectrum as well as the success of assets from newly-promoted teams.

Playing wildcard during international break. ....what to do with kdb?

A....kdb to son for 1 week only and get kdb back on wildcard, potentially at a loss of 0.2m.

    B.... play sub Cantwell

Given the set up of my team and my zero cash in the bank my alternative is a boring guilbert to lunds ahead of his rise....

Going to need every penny I guess in wildcard so don't want to throw money away...

No idea mentality of son and spurs at weekend and cantwell has good fixture v villa....

Would you keep Aguero or try fit Sterling in using a hit? Not sure what to do as Aguero started the CL game.
    This is the team below.

    Pope
    TAA, Otamendi, Lundstram
KDB (VC if he's fit), Salah, Mount, Yarmo
    Aguero (C), Tammy, Pukki

    Button, Cantwell, Rico, Soy

    Any other suggestions? Thanks

Theres a decent chance Kun doesn't start this weekend, and his form has taken a dip anyway, with Sterling now looking the better captain

....who knows how long KDB he will be out for...

I'm considering transferring out KDB and Kun for Sterling and Auba (have 2m in bank), wont lose much value on KDB when he returns

Struggling to see any chance of De Bruyne playing on Sunday. Home game, squad depth, and the guarantee of an international break to recover. Sell or bench? Might be silly to sell with price rise

100% Bench. Only consider Selling if:

        - you have no value tied up in him
        - you have 2 FT burning a hole in your pocket
        - you are wildcarding next week

      3. Demí

Yeah no doubt, can't see Pep risking him, or even needing to when the int break is round the corner. I'm personally benching.

It's made hard because of the price rise. I got him at 9.6. But I suspect cool kids will move to Mahrez (not Son) and get a sh1te ton of points.

He gets worse and will be out for very long time
He gets through it and off he goes with Belgium to San Marino and Kazakhstan matches

He won’t be involved on Sunday and won’t be allowed to go with Belgium... reading into Peps words

Leicester: tough but could be caught on the counter. Don't bench/sell, don't cap, maybe
          Old Trafford: Lol
          Spurs at Anfield: Lol

Though I rate the Leicester defence higher than Wolves' atm, so Sterling(C) for me. Leicester arguably have a stronger central midfield than Liverpool.

      Pope
      TAA / VVD / Otamendi
      Salah / Sterling / KDB* / Cantwell
      Abraham / Pukki / Barnes

Button // Kelly (WHU) / Dendoncker (MCI) / Montoya (TOT)

With KDB out, the front six aren't looking fantastic. I was toying with dropping Salah/Barnes to get Aubameyang & Mount (or something), but doesn't look worthwhile when the rest of the attack questionable.

Doesn't look worth dropping KDB as per latest comments so...

      Would you:
      A) Save FT (I have a WC I may use soon..)
      B) Montoya > Lundstram (+ play vs Watford)
      C) Barnes > King
      D) Both B + C

I like Bournemouth's two fixtures after Arsenal & honestly Wilson is the better pick IMO but Arsenal could still be a plum fixture.

With noting I have 0 ITB.

Tomori may have been nice, but as a Chelsea fan & still not on the Lundstram bandwagon, feels necessary.

Watford is a great fixture, despite the rubbish ones afterwards which I'll be able to still bench him for!

Cheers. It's currently my Plan A. Saving FT is all well & good but don't love my subs & it solves an un-ending issue.

Aware I'll probably want to drop Barnes ASAP & get some Leicester assets, but I guess that's what the WC could be good for over the break.

Such a hodgepodge of guests on the scoutcast these days. Doesn't help its appeal. Good that Joe is regular but it's musical chairs atm otherwise.

Just found out that Az and Luke have their own podcast, Andy's gone since last year, Mark's gone, I think it's gonna be like this for forseeable future.

Did not watch today's episode but last time Karam was a guest I actually quite enjoy his insight.

Yeah seems that way. I guess that's why we see less of Luke and az then. Only so much fpl chat to go through in a week.
Would love to see Mark back in some sort of capacity from a selfish pov.

      Pope
      TAA - Tomori - Lundstram
      Sterling - KDB - Son - Yarmolenko
      Aubameyang - Wilson - Pukki

      Woodman - Cantwell - Pieters - Hanley

FTs used and 0m in the bank. 🙂

Oh, there's quite the shopping list:

Lundstram > Tomori > Soy > Pieters > Lowton > Guilbert > Reid (3.9 third sub to release funds)

Thank you for that! Would I be right in thinking Walker-Pieters should be fairly nailed at least short term right?

            Avoid Spurs defence

I'd say avoid Spurs in general, but Son and Kane owners might call for my head 😀

So Vardy’s fixtures look tempting but mostly away or at least not great home fixtures until GW14 - is the sea of green slightly deceiving?

If you need to cap him, GW14

Just owning from GW9 is enough. Reasons I might stay away: Wilson, Pukki, Tammy. This frontline can match him if I focus captaincy on City and Pool. Especially since getting Vardy involves selling two of my strikers

His price point is the issue, tbh. The fixtures have goals in them. Maybe something similar to Auba's returns so far until GW14, then some explosions

Wilson looks delicious for the two after Arsenal. Maybe even including it.

        1. Get paper and pen
        2. Write down Vardys fixtures and change the order
        3. Now do same for Pukki, Wilson and Abraham

I now like Vardy from GW13 onwards and not now

I was certain to see Kun starting last PL match. I still believe he will probably start the next one. Yet Jesus braced vs Wolves this January and Sterling is certain starter. Considering different options with 2ft:s and 0 itb.

      A) Mane + Kun > Sterling + Auba
      B) Kdb + Mane > Sterling + Mount
      D) Ditch KdB to get him back
      C) Go to bed and get some sleep 😉

C for now, no rush to make a decision. Also bear in mind if you ditch KDB for one week and want him back you may lose value

I am much more concerned about Aguero than with KDB now. Have both and thinking I need to use my FT on Aguero>Aubameyang and hold KDB with Greenwood as cover

Would you do Aguero to Auba or KDB to Mahrez or Son? When Mahrez plays he looks really dangerous.

        I’m tempted to go

        Salah Sterling Mahrez* Son Cantwell
        Pukki Abraham

Mount out though, possibly a big risk...

Mahrez has started 2 matches in short time period, he will be rested now imo.

I would hold this week... As long as bench can cover Kev, if concerned by Aguero then go with your gut feeling...

I think keep KDB unless confirmed news he is out longer ( which does not seem case). Aguero must have fair chance of benching this weekend with Jesus start and Aubameyang must have chance of good score v Bournemouth but on balance think I would keep Aguero so I would not make either move

KDB + Pukki to McGinn + Aguero? Feels like the right time tbh.

      Pope (Button)
      TAA Lundstram Dunk (Rico Kelly)
      Sterling KDB Son Mount (Cantwell)
      Aubameyang Abraham Pukki

Pukki brace, Kun bench is a concern with that move.
