Scoutcast discusses changing of the captaincy guard

Joe is joined by Karam and Tom from Who Got the Assist? for the latest episode of the Scoutcast tonight.

You can watch it on our YouTube channel from 8pm BST to 9pm BST.

As the Champions League is back on our screens, this episode will overlap with the European action and we will try to bring you regular updates from Manchester City and Tottenham’s matches.

Episode 303 marks a slight changing of the guard when it comes to the captaincy.

After a rotation of Liveprool and Manchester City players in the early rounds of the season, Arsenal are starting to creep into the equation some more.

What impact this should have on our transfers and armband decisions will be the task of Joe, Karam and Tom tonight.

After some impressive statistics in recent weeks, Riyad Mahrez (£8.5m) commands some of our time as we discuss if he’s worth signing.

There will also be time to have a weekly look at how defenders are getting on at both ends of the spectrum as well as the success of assets from newly-promoted teams.

I am assuming KDB out for week 8 so once midweek games play out is Salah and Greenwood to Yarmolenko and Aubameyang worth - 4 for team below.

    Pope
    TAA Otamendi Van Dijk
    Sterling Mount Yarmolenko Cantwell
    Aubameyang Pukki Abraham

    McGovern KDB Diop Rico

Saw the Son goal as it happened and got excited about finding a clear KDB replacement if need be

Then the rest of the match happened and I decided to accept Cantwell off my bench except if KDB's out for 3+ GWs

      That's dreadful!

Surely, there's someone you can sell? Get Lund for Montoya if you don't already have him. If you do... Get Lowton

Yeah, agree but really wanted to go into the IB with 2FTs. Have Lundy, Tomori and Pope too. Could also just take a 0.2 loss on KDB and get another mid but no one really stands out to me and I'd just want him back

        Montoya to Rico/Kelly maybe?

        1. Ze_Austin

Seriously, just get Lowton. There's no harm in that 🙂

No rotation risk. No scary fixtures... And no better options out there for this GW at that price. Note that I said this GW, because the main reason for the FT is to get a starter

You'll bench Lowton for Soy after this GW, remember? You have Soy, Tomori, Lund and I guess TAA ahead in the pecking order. I see the appeal of going as cheap as possible in Kelly though. Up to you on that one

Montoya is about to go down in price right? So, your gonna lose 0.1 on him anyway....I'd trade Montoya to another player the same price who is about to go up in price and has a decent fixture. If you make it past this week Soyuncu's fixtures get much better and obviously you'll get KDB back.

If you desperately want 2FTs for IB Montoya would be your best bet to play against shaky Spurs.

As good a chance as ever. Just rested in prem, 5 days before next game. Wolves at home is definitely a game more suited to Aguero than Jesus. He will also want his experience with no KDB.

Also no KDB that day too. David Silva plus other carry the top experience

And another factor is Aguero wont play internationally, so will have a 2 week break after Wolves.
I reckon he's as nailed as any for Wolves.

I wasn't saying he won't play. We have no idea. I'm saying its a risk. Pukki and Cantwell at home against Villa could be fruitful. You don't need to do it imo. If you have value tied up in KDB you'll also lose that.

I’m wildcarding next week, so I’m tempted by this -4....

When you wild card will you want KDB in your side? If so, do you have any value tied up in him now? If I sold him now it would cost me 0.3 more to buy him back. 0.3 can be the difference between some one you want and someone you can afford.

      1. davies
        • 9 Years
        4 years, 6 months ago

Yes I will get him back

        I got him @ 9.5 so I’ll lose 0.3 (0.2 if he drops)

If you'd have to play Donkey this weekend as his cover then do it, as long as you won't miss that 0.3/0.2 mil.

I’d have to play two of:

            Dendoncker (mci)
            Soyuncu (liv)
            Greenwood (new)
            Rico (ars)

Unlikely any of those are getting more than 2 points each but Mahrez and Yarm could get attacking returns, both on good form, so could pay off.

Depends if it’ll hurt your WC too much to lose 0.2/0.3 in TV.

And you're not guaranteed points either. Moving him out and back in costs 2 transfers that you could be using elsewhere while he stays on your bench for one GW. It doesn't make any sense to hokey cokey for one week.

There's a chance of 9.7M missing the squad and 12.0M being on the bench this GW, both being together in many highly ranked teams

Normally, this would mean FPL managers without these assets would automatically climb in GW8... But nope

Unsure. Sounds like a minor injury (groin strain), will be assessed before wolves game and pep said he'll be fit after int break. So I reckon he'll be rested this week. But you never know!

Nothing definitive but Pep said it’s “not serious”. Given squad depth I’d expect him out for GW8 but we don’t know how long in total. At least there’s the IB

Yeah, assumed as much. Cheers! Downgrade to Bilva or Mahrez could be on the cards! The latter having played 90 mins tonight doesn't bode so well for a Wolves start, though...

Evening gents. Hoping KDB isn’t out for long (especially after Pep comments).

Anything need changing here? Hoping to WC after IB or possibly even later.

    1FT 0.2itb
    Heaton
    VVD, Ota, Lunds
    Salah, Sterling (C), KDB*, Mount
    Pukki (v), Haller, Abraham
    (Button) (Cantwell, Söyüncü, Rico)

    Cheers!

GTG. Cantwell will save the day if KDB doesn't play.

Very nice team, I'd roll the FT over...Cantwell is a good KDB replacement.
I would try to get TAA for VVD at some stage though

    Rico or Kelly?

Honestly, neither will last long, but probably Rico.

Palace's fixtures turn soon with Sakho & Tomkins in the wings.

Rico could last all season. Daniels is out and no guarantee that Kelly will just walk into the team.

    Salah + Greenwood > Auba + Yarmolenko -4?

    Crazy?

Problem is, I have no one that can cover KdB. My bench is Rico, Greenwood, Lundstram... I don't want to sell if it's just one week out.

Lundstram plays Watford. Could easily have a good week and loads will be playing him.

Auba Yarmo should outscore Salah Greenwood by at least 4 points over the next 4-5 games imo so its a decent move, especially if you wouldn't capt salah in that time.

Thinking same moves for -4. Probably a late Friday night decision! Earlier responses on this Forum to these moves not so positive? Good luck!

Call me optimistic but this KDB injury could be a blessing in disguise if he misses this week, both internationals and then back fresh for GW9.

Last IB he came back off the bench and only scored 1 point. At least this way we know he nots playing this week and can prepare a replacement.

Well, he gets a rest thats for sure. But would still have preferred him playing vs Wolves, as I now have to play one of Soy/Kelly (Hayden 3rd on bench and injured)

It gives you a stronger team for this gameweek, no doubt, but you have to consider what it will take to get Salah back (if you want to) and if you're happy risking not owning him at all.

With your rank you can afford to ride it out until int break..or take a chance and maybe climb even higher. Were you planning on different moves after the int break or just saving in case of injuries?

I planned to make these moves during the Intl. Break. I'm quite happy to sell Salah for GW9-12. I guess if they were good during the break, they'll be good now as well with WHU vs CPL and Arsenal vs BOU

Also I don't understand how my rank has any bearing. I'm trying to make the best decisions points wise period. Unless I'm defending a lead at the top of my mini league or any league, it shouldn't make any difference as to how I play. The goal is to score the most points. That's it.

Your sitting at about 16k right so you have a high points total, therefore likely to be in strong positions in your leagues and so can afford to take a hit. Unless maintaining a lead in a mini league doesn't matter to you. Thats all I meant.

    Pope - Button
    TAA - Otamendi - Lundstram - Montoya - Diop
    Salah - Sterling - Mount - Cantwell - Dendonker
    Aguero - Pukki - Barnes
    2 FT - 0.4

Was planning on Sterling to De Bruyne so I could upgrade Barnes to Abraham. I wanted rid of Barnes but now I can't really swap him for the player I want so would almost just do Montoya -> Soyuncu just to have a solid defender for the upcoming weeks then do Sterling to De Bruyne later even though I wouldn't play him this week against Liverpool. The only other move I see is Aguero to Auba then Barnes to Abraham.
