Scoutcast Episode 303 – Template Busting

Are we witnessing the end of the early-season template?

Liverpool have daunting fixtures and alternative captaincy shouts are emerging each week.

Meanwhile, Manchester City assets still look strong, but are beset with injury and rotation fears.

Could it be time to turn our attention away from the North-West of England for our premium picks and towards the East Midlands and North London?

In this latest Scoutcast episode, Joe is joined by Karam and Who Got The Assist’s Tom to look back on Gameweek 7 and ahead to Gameweek 8 and beyond.

Topping the bill is the crew’s attempt to assess which premium-priced and captainable assets to target and which to consider ditching.

By happy coincidence, Karam is on the verge of Wildcarding and gives a sneak preview of his ambitious plans as the second international break of the season approaches.

The ascent of Riyad Mahrez gets an airing as does a stock check on the promoted teams. It looks like Fantasy managers may have to look elsewhere for whipping boys, with the three top-flight newcomers all exhibiting considerable promise.

Tom takes his turn to select a differential, the best clean prospects are examined and a Trainspotting analogy also features in this packed 80-minute episode.

Can he be classed as not featuring regularly if he has only one week off and even that isn’t for certain?

Does Salah + Digne + Pukki -> Mane + Tomori + Vardy makes sense to any of you? Leicester and Chelsea have great fixtures! Have 2 FT at the moment..

    Current team:
    Pope
    TAA Otamendi Digne
    Sterling Salah KDB Mount Cantwell
    Pukki Abraham

    Skeletenburg Lunds Dunk Greenwood

      I bought KDB for 9.8m.
      His selling price is 9.9m.
      His purchase price is 10m.

On this, would a temporary move of KDB -> Mahrez/Sterling be wise?

      Salah, KDB, Sterling(c), McGinn
      Tammy, Pukki

Bench: Button, Dendoncker, Kelly, Greenwood. 2 FT and 0.3 ITB. What do I do? Haven't played in 2-3 weeks and am out of the loop. What moves look good?

      Ryan

      Otamendi TAA VVD Lundstram (KWP)
      Salah Sterling James Mount Cantwell
      Wilson Pukki (Greenwood)

      1.7ITB, 1FT

      Pick one:

      A) Wilson & James =>Auba & Stephens (-4)
      B) Wilson & VVD(do own TAA as well) => Auba & Tomori (-4)
      C) Wilson to Abraham

      Alexander-Arnold, Otamendi, Lundstram
      Sterling, De Bruyne, Son, Mount
      Firmino, Abraham, Pukki

      1 FT 0.7 ITB

Bearing in mind KDB probably won't play:

      A) Save
      B) Dendoncker -> Cantwell

What to do with this team:

      Pope(EVE)

      Digne(bur) TAA(LEI) Zinch(WOL)
      Salah(LEI) Son(bha) Mount(sou) De Bruyne(WOL)
      Tammy(sou) Pukki(AVL) Haller(CRY)

      Bench:
      Button Cantwell Lund Aurier

      1FT 0.2 ITB

I really want to save the FT so I can have 2 FT after the IB and do a mini WC.

If KDB doesn’t play Cantwell will be first sub.

I want to ditch Aurier also but might play him next GW at home although Spurs defense looks rubbish.

Different clubs, different managers, different injuries, different players. Kdb could come back after the IB, or yes, he could be out for longer. But the comparison with Martial or other injuries is pointless

I presume that you'll lose 0.4m value of your team, if you do ship him.

It's a question of whether you'd be in a position of affording him back, once he's recovered.

I am not keen on playing Cantwell every week either as my rank will go for a massive ball of chalk so will just get KDB back once he starts matches again.

The rule for a 6 match ban is only enforced for face to face misconduct. Not social media. I read the rule, someone posted it here, dont have a link.

Languishing at 2m and becoming a bit disillusioned with FPL.

Hits not paying off, poor captain choices and some bad luck mainly contributing. Should I WC this team in the international break or stay patient?

You don't need a WC at all, this is very close to my team.
I'd drop Digne and would personally prefer TAA to any other Liv defence - but not critical.

I think it's a good side you've got there, only priority is Digne really - who I really like, but Everton are terrible.

I do not mind taking a -8 to get in Sterling and Auba. There will be plenty hits going around with KDB not featuring and many doing Kun to Auba.

This is the GW to take hits lol.

My last -8 worked out fine.

If I keep Kun and he does not start, play Cantwell and he blanks then I am buggered anyway.

        Sterling Son Mount Cantwell

        1. Aguero -> Auba (I'd cap him or Sterling)
        2. Zinchenko -> Ota
        3. Dendoncker -> Hudson-Odoi (think he's great value and will be much higher owned in a few GWs)

Probably. Just seeing people considering the KDB > Mahrez route, and it would be a big blow if he doesnt start. Bilva taken off before 60, whether that was him not playing very well, or Pep having an eye on the weekend I dont know. All I am pretty sure of is that Sterling is starting, but its Pep so you never know...

        With 1FT:

        A) Play Aguero (WOL)
        B) Get Auba (BOU) and save FT

Don't trust Pep enough with Kun now so would captain Sterling or perhaps Auba

if Bilva isnt ruled out this game or whatever. I would say there is actually more chance of him featuring than not. Pep has stood by Bilva and made it clear that he didnt do anything wrong. Pep playing Bilva shows that he is backing him and that he belives he did nothing wrong. Im certain Bilva starts this weekend

it was more tactical as city needed pace in the forward line to get something to happen, bilva playing left hand side does not really suit him so more of a confession from pep that i did wrong and now i revert that.

I dont think he is ruled out, he has until 9th of october to respond, so he can probably play until then, as far as I know. I suggested the same thing above, would be a big blow to do KDB > Mahrez to see Mahrez on the bench.

Does anyone think this Martial malarkey is some kind of behind the scenes issue at this point? Makes no sense to be out for this long and constantly being "maybe next week" then being delayed one more week over and over. Pogba's injury seems the same. He couldnt be bothered to do anything at all against Arsenal, if he were really injured then surely he would have given his all and then realized something was wrong and subbed off during the game.

reasons like this is why I maintain Martial is a bad FPL pick, always has been, always will be. Has anyone ever actually got a good run of games/returns out of martial that stretches beyond 3 weeks on the trot? Not sure, there is always some issue with Martial I swear

          It honestly could be

One of the things we’ve learned about Ole recently is that (despite his reputation, his obvious love of man united, his baby faced looks, etc etc)... despite all of that wonderful stuff - he is actually a bare-faced liar

He looked Geoff Shreeves right in the eye after the West Ham game, on camera to millions of people, and said he is happy with his group of players and has no doubts about them

If he is capable of saying that, he is easily capable of lying about Martial

        3. bench boost for every gamew…

Martial injury is groin related and he has an injury record that suggest no foul. And why would he do that when he gets to play in his preferred position in a big club? Pogba starting to realize he is not good enough to be a star in PL and wants to play in a league where he can dominate more. Sorry, but for me he is just a player with great individual skills but that´s about it. Unless he has Kanté running his socks off for him or against the minnows of Cardiff and Huddersfield he has never proven himself against the big clubs.
