Scoutcast Episode 303 – Template Busting

Are we witnessing the end of the early-season template?

Liverpool have daunting fixtures and alternative captaincy shouts are emerging each week.

Meanwhile, Manchester City assets still look strong, but are beset with injury and rotation fears.

Could it be time to turn our attention away from the North-West of England for our premium picks and towards the East Midlands and North London?

In this latest Scoutcast episode, Joe is joined by Karam and Who Got The Assist’s Tom to look back on Gameweek 7 and ahead to Gameweek 8 and beyond.

Topping the bill is the crew’s attempt to assess which premium-priced and captainable assets to target and which to consider ditching.

By happy coincidence, Karam is on the verge of Wildcarding and gives a sneak preview of his ambitious plans as the second international break of the season approaches.

The ascent of Riyad Mahrez gets an airing as does a stock check on the promoted teams. It looks like Fantasy managers may have to look elsewhere for whipping boys, with the three top-flight newcomers all exhibiting considerable promise.

Tom takes his turn to select a differential, the best clean prospects are examined and a Trainspotting analogy also features in this packed 80-minute episode.

KDB injury is a spanner in the works for most teams with him, Kun and no Sterling.

Could always just do KDB to Son and keep Kun. Just does not make sense keeping either KDB or Kun right now.

Why would you not keep KDB? Sounds like one week max out and potentially even making the wolves game

KDB ain't going to feature if he does not train.

And managers always try to save face regarding the severity of injuries for their biggest players.

I think it's more likely the severity of the injury is being exaggerated to get De Bruyne out of a meaningless international game.

Could be but Belgium National team would have requested an injury report surely?

Played 5 games straight in the PL, 90 mins last night as well. And has 2 games coming up in IB. I think he is primed for a rest in either GW8 or 9.

Also spurs arent looking like they are going to Roll over teams at the moment, except for the one game vs Palace, the have been mediocre before and after.

Decent pick, he has been getting one attacking return a game and no baps or CS points because Spurs mostly always concede and opposition players as well as Kane share baps.
Is 9.5m really worth it for 5-7 points per game when Mount, McGinn, Yarmolenko and potential Maddison are consistently returning the same?

    Pope Button
    TAA Digne Otamendi Lundy Rico
    Salah KDB Mount McGinn Cantwell
    Aguero Abraham Pukki

    How does this sound.
    Aguero to Aubameyang this week.
Digne and McGinn to Soyuncu and Mahrez next.

    Yes or No?

If i were to be tempted to get Sterling in for KDB, who makes way to allow it to happen?
    KDB > Sterling leaves -2.4.
Would have to be Son or Mount wouldn’t it 🙁

Honestly would get rid of Tammy before Mount. Bats is knocking on the door and I can see them being rotated soon, especially if he scores tonight (I think he will start)

At the very least, I think he will start getting subbed off at 60 when ineffective

Of all your options, the easiest to go without is Son. He's still in differential territory so you won't lose rank by losing him. With such tight ranks at the moment, OR-safety-based moves still count

Add this to the problems in camp and Son's stats not really up there with the likes of Sterling and Tammy, and it's easier to let him go

And that's before we talk about these dudes you can get who could match Son and you're sure would start GW9: Yarmo, McGinn, Madders

U have to play Lunds & Cantwell, then your choice between AWB and Diop. Diop @ home but Fab is now out, so probably not gonna be as tight at the back from now on.
AWB may well be sick, so the deicion might be made for you anyways. I would probably play AWB away at Newcaslte, Diop first on bench.

Lunds is nearly captain material vs Watford, if Lunds was @ home I dare say he would be captain material for the brave.
And Cantwell only home fixture in last 2, if he getting something its in this game vs Villa.

its true that, and spending alot of time on here, youtube and twitter over the week is bad and almost encourages action. I honestly think its better to spend minimal time here during the week, just keep an eye on news and save your rtansfers as often as you can. 2 FTs give you alot more options and more data

When you see people making moves all the time, taking hits and whatever it makes you feel a bit more safe about doing it as well. But at the end of the day the people here make up not even 1% of the total players. Illustrated by the fact that some players here who gain popularity like Yarmolenko for instance are still owned owned by a very small amount of managers but if you absed their ownerhsip on how often you see them mentioned here you could be forgiven for thinking they have 15% ownership not 3.

        Well said FFXI

I have to say the series ended with FFVII for me, which I think is still one of, if not THE most jaw dropping experiences i’ve Ever ha delaying that as a kid

Never enjoyed any of the next 3, as good as they probably were - but I think a lot of it is which one you played first - whichever it was is usually a person’s favourite

        Anyhoo

You are wise beyond the years of your badge to have so quickly observed the lack of correlation between FFS consensus and FPL point delivery 😉

I think Im sitting.. Doesnt feel good but a hit feels less good. Reminding myself that -4 is a pretty big rank difference and that as long as I have someone coming off the benchf or KDB (James for me) a -4 is probably not Worth it even if getting in someone like Son for KDB

Should I switch Pepe and Son for Mane and Yarmolenko/Buendia for a hit, and if I do who's the better option, Yarmolenko or Buendia ?
My team would look like this:
    Pope
Tomori | Otamendi | Lundstram (Gulbert, Hanley)
Salah | Sterling | Mount | Mane | Yarmolenko OR Buendia
    Abraham | Haller (Greenwood)

I wouldn’t make the change now, Arsenal and Tottenham both have good fixtures and Liverpool next 3 games won’t be high scoring in my opinion. If you do want to do the transfer then get Yarmolenko. Norwich right now seems a bit off but are due to make a comeback.

Yarmolenko has alright fixtures coming up and is each than Mount but his next 4 games should be good for him. Yarmolenko only 6mil for a mid who plays striker with an unselfish striker partner.

I have the misfortune to be a proud owner of Pepe from Totenham game, and he's been nothing short of a bum. I watched every Arsenal game since then, and I don't know what to do with him. He's has some potential, but right now he's showing nothing, his body language is bad, his shots are well off target... Also, I'm scared to ship him out before Bournemouth game, because I fear that if I do so, he'll score twice on Sunday just to punish me for not trusting him enough.

I have Guendozi to come on for KDB if he doesn't play, and then hopefully he'll be fine after the break.

    Sterling or Aguero captain.

Ayew might not be bad for the West Ham game, so I'd trust the bench on this one and save the FT except if KDB's announced out for long

The thing is I also am playing Diop(CRY) & expecting him to keep a CS. I don't think Ayew will score.

Might be a case of hedged bets to have both, then. I'm not sure there are many better forwards at that range. If you can afford the likes of Wood and Tammy, then go for it

Watching highlights of the Spurs/Southampton game. What was LLoris thinking. Trying to dribble Ings and failing miserably. 8 year old cut back dribble is a beaut!!

Lack of concerntration probably. Funny mistake, he made up for it with some good saves though.
If only we could combine the hands of Lloris with the feet of Gazzaniga, we would have one an epic keeper 😀

Centre backs tend to get more goals than fullbacks. Even then, 7 from 82 is really good. Grimalo is more known for his crosses and freekicks

Two free transfers - think I should just be conservative and do option a:

    a. Aurier -> Tomori
    b. Aurier + KDB -> Tomori + Hudson-Odoi

    McGovern
    TAA, Digne, Lundstram
    KDB, Sterling, Salah, Cantwell
    Abraham, Wilson, Pukki

    Heaton, Aurier, Hayden, Rico
0.1 million in the bank, all chips intact

Who else is benching KDB even if Pep says he'll be in the squad?

Almost a clear case of being out of the XI for this one... Maybe 15 mins off the bench or something

    hi guys .

    Pope-Button
    Digne-TAA -Lunds-Soy-Ota
    KDB-Salah-Sterling-Mount-Cantwell
    Ayew-Barnes-Tammy

    have 2FTs , 0,1 ITB.

what to do here? don’t really want to transfer out Salah-Raz-KDB , but i think my strikers are weak.

Haller seems to rely on counter attacking to get returns, in his next 5 I dont see many oppurtunities to play that kind of game unless West Ham can get an early goal and force their opponents to open up. Probably more suited to playing against sides who take them game to them
