Scoutcast discusses Pukki, Leicester and emerging FPL trends

After a long international break, the Scoutcast is back to discuss all the key talking points ahead of Gameweek 9.

You can watch it from 20:00 to 21:00 BST on our YouTube channel, or embedded in the article below.

For Episode 304, Joe is joined by Fantasy Football Scout editor David and special guest Sam Bonfield, one half of the well-known FPL Family.

Currently enjoying a 19k worldwide rank, Sam is a regular on the FPL Show, FPLFYI and the official FPL podcast.

She will be making her debut on the Scoutcast tonight after contributing to articles on Fantasy Football Scout over the last 12 months.

On the show tonight, we will be looking at what has become of Teemu Pukki (£7.1m) in recent weeks, as well as whether Leicester are a team we should be looking at going forward.

Finally, we will also be discussing how best we can pick up emerging trends in Fantasy, to make sure we are ahead of the curve on any upcoming bandwagons.

      Boly looks the better pick. He is a goal threat and he is a BPS machine.

    Auba + Cantwell > C.Wilson + KDB for a -4 this week or should I just go Auba > C.Wilson for a FT? I could bring KDB in next week.

        Norwich can't defend though. Sheffield United are stubborn and can actually defend. Wilson could easily score a brace.

      Using aguero to fund similar moves. It's pretty perfect with the two plum home fixtures for aguero coming up too. Queue an injury for poor Sergio now

    broad question but thoughts on vvd if you already own him? united and spurs suddenly not looking like terrible fixtures, although villa away doesnt feel likely to be a CS.

      • 7 Years

      VVD just low priority in changing. Maybe to TAA one of these weeks, but other moves more pressing. At the end of the day...it is VVD so should work out ok

        yeah every time i model shuffling him around and spending the surplus elsewhere i end up like 1 point better off over the course of 6 weeks. feels suboptimal to own him but since i already have taa cant figure out a simple move with big edge

      If on WC then I think it’s a no brainer to get rid.

      If it’s just a FT, then only if there is nothing more pressing in your team.

          Downgrade to Soy/Tomori or even Rico/Lundy.

          Then invest in MF or ATT. Seems there’s not much value in premium DF so far. Only seems TAA who looks like he’s worth it due to his attacking potential and set piece duties

      I’m on WC and considering getting in Gaza...

      3 things worry me though...

      1) It’s a GK transfer waiting to happen further down the line. And no doubt it’ll be unwelcome when it comes.
      2) Spurs hardly inspiring confidence at the mo.
      3) Vorm re-signing might push Gaza out of the team. Especially if he commits a howler.

        I dont understand why anyone thinks Gazza wont be first choice keeper. But no matter who is in goal for Spurs its a bad pick imo, that defence is too unsettled and next 2 after watford are bad fixtures to bring him in for those, no cs in either.

    Not an owner but it's hilarious to me that people (including Andy LTFPL) are benching Otamendi for Chelsea and Leicester defenders with no attacking threat. Unbelievable. Talking themselves into clean sheets that are still unlikely to happen, and acting as if City don't have better CS potential against Palace anyway.

    That's before you factor in how ridiculously attacking Otamendi is - just watch a City game, he stays lurking in the box long after the set piece, and he often sniffs around the box looking for a chance in the most unlikely scenarios for a CB. So dangerous. You won't be kicking yourself if Soyuncu scores 6 points, but you'll be absolutely livid if you bench another Ota 15-pointer.

    Some seriously weird decision making goes on around here sometimes. Cue Otamendi red card!

          How are you saying that playing a defender at home against Newcastle, the second worst attacking team in the league, is a poor decision? No matter who the other choice is, that's never a bad idea...
          As for Otamendi, you're talking about his attacking returns as if he's 'guaranteed' to get something. He had 0 goals 0 assists last season, 4, 3, and 1 combined for the previous 3 seasons. That's hardly groundbreaking, and it's WAY less than the number of clean sheets Chelsea or Leicester will get in a season so to say that's unlikely compared to an Otamendi return is nothing short of delusional. Add to this City are missing both of their starting centre backs as well as their most important defensive player being Fernandinho in his midfield role and the chances of a City clean sheet aren't looking great.
          Makes no sense? Look at what you're saying.

      Benching Otamendi (v Palace) for Sonyuncu/Tomori is just silly imo, could work out but if you did the same move one hundred times, OTA would def come out well on top!

    On WC and fairly happy with the team... only ‘problem’ being that I’m left with 1.7ITB which I’m not sure how to spend.

    .....Pope - Button
    TAA - Ota - Soy - Rico - Lund
    Sterling - KDB - Maddy - Mount - Saka
    Vardy - Wilson - Tammy
    (Sterling might end up as Mane/Salah)
    Would you just leave the cash for a rainy day or would you bring in Auba which I could do if I downgrade Sterling, Ota & Maddy then do Wilson > Auba

          Rod and Emu.
          Sadly he died climbing on the roof to adjust his aerial during the World Cup, I don't know if this is urban lwgend or true but I liked Rod. Bless Him.

            Watching a Manchester United Champions League game in fact. He went up at Half time. Very sad. He was living as a recluse too.

      The price drop is actually bonkers and needs further examination.

      So Clark I assume in this context is the now 4.3 Newcastle defender Ciaran Clarke ?

      Who played his very first minutes of the season vs Man Utd just before the IB and kept a clean sheet for 6 points.

      So who the hell has kept him for all the time of the previous 7 weeks when he scored zero points to now decide having scored 6 points and got a clean sheet that now is the right time to sell him. Utter madness.

    Would like to get more opinions on this,
    A) Robbo Madd Auba
    B) Pereira Salah Jimenez
    C) Tomori Salah Vardy

    Currently have robbo salah pukki and have 2 FTs. Which combination would you rather have? Thanks

        This essentially means I won't be doing option A. Cos if I were to sell salah, I would go for madd right away.

        And if this means I'm going for B/C, it's better to get vardy/tomori/Jim this week due to better fixtures

    Some help needed. Which option is best?

    2 transfers, 0.1 itb

    A) Salah/Pukki --> Mane/King
    B) Salah/Pukki --> Kun/Maddison
    C) Salah/Pukki --> Auba/Maddison
    D) Salah/Greenwood --> Mahrez/King
    E) Sterling/Pukki --> Kun/Yarmolenko
    F) Sterling/Greenwood--> Mahrez/King

        Why Jimenez? King's form has been good and fixtures are plum

      Pukki more likely to score than King (bookies odds), not a good move imo

    Appreciate any advice or input on my team this week. Would like to go double Leicester to profit on fixtures but unsure on best option to join Vardy

    Pope
    TAA Otamendi Tomori
    Sterling Mahrez Mount McGinn
    Auba Vardy Abraham (c)

    A Otamendi > Soyuncu
    B Mahrez > Maddison
    C Ota & Mahrez > Soyu & KDB (-4)
    D Save FT

    My captaincy thoughts atm:
    Kane 45%
    Mane 30%
    Sterling 25%

    Fearing the worst as a MUN fan, we could well be humiliated at home this weekend!

    Which of these would you prefer to go with over the next few fixtures in particular?

    1. Webster (or other 4.5m defender) + Vardy.
    2. Soyuncu + Wilson (+ 0.9m for upgrades).
