Option A or B???

If you had to lose one of Martial, Bruno, Pulisic, Antonio to accommodate a City mid (already have Sterling, and will be getting in KdB/Mahrez/DSilva depending on team leaks), who would it be?

I've just listened to the FPL Surgery podcast, episode 181 with the legend Lateriser12. Very good content, and as much as I love the FFS scoutcast I've got to say the FPL Surgery one was so much more useful at least this time round. Perhaps a Lateriser thing, the guy gives good advice. I'm going to list a few points of interest to me personally, this is not a summary of the whole pod so give it a listen if you're interested.

1. Auba vs Kane is a tough one! People have been debating for the whole week about which is the better option, they both have their pros but also plenty of cons, for example do Spurs look like a side that can thrash Palace 4-0 away from home? Do Arsenal with nothing to play for want to risk their best player with a full 90 before the FA Cup? As a non-FHer I have one FT and rather than debate Auba vs Kane, potentially the best option is to go for neither.

2. If we are looking to target the Spurs game, Palace's toothless attack combined with Spurs' recent solidity might make their back line more appealing, especially considering this fixture has ended 0-1 (Spurs away) in each of the last 3 seasons. Going forwards, a lot has been made of Van Aanholt's absence on the left but Ward on the right has been a liability maybe even more than the youngster Mitchell on the opposite flank, and Lateriser made the point of Jonny and Rashford both taking advantage of Palace's weakness down the right in recent matches. A quick glance through the previous fixtures and I see that Pulisic and Robertson/Mane have also produced points from the left for their respective sides since the restart. This perhaps bodes well for Son, and maybe also Davies who I suspect has been taking some of the attacking mantle from Aurier in recent games - will need to check the stats on that one.

3. My move for Auba or Kane would have been for Vardy. But is this a transfer worth making? Leicester are well rested and Vardy against tired legs is quite juicy. On paper Vardy's pace in behind Maguire is not bad at all, and Leicester at home looking to bounce back after their defeat last time as well as needing a win for the CL, all points to good things. My concern is that United have actually conceded 0 goals away from home since GW30+ and if Shaw is back (team leak hopefully!) then that gives a major boost to United as a whole. I just think it's such a tough game to call so still undecided on this one.

4. With doubts over Spurs, Arsenal, United and Leicester facing off, Chelsea and Wolves facing off, the major points are likely to come from Liverpool and City. Lots to love about Salah's stats obviously but the pod suggested Mane could be a better option as a differential, he's got a history of good returns in GW38 and is a better header of the ball than Salah, with Newcastle being specifically weak in this area. There is ofc the doubts over whether they turn up hungover after partying and with their hefty price tags I'm happy to avoid for one week.

5. Triple City attack should be the priority as I have been saying since last week. Lateriser is still keen on Jesus as an option but I was really turned off by that god-awful showing in midweek. With Sterling (C) and Dilva already settled in the side, I'm looking at KDB or Mahrez as my 3rd option and am currently favouring KDB from advice from here in the community and from the pod. KDB needs 2 assists to claim the assist record outright and quite frankly I don't see that being any sort of challenge for him. Even if he doesn't get any further returns, that's 9 points pre-bonus (assuming CS) which as a floor score, really isn't too bad.

Just my thoughts - happy to hear opinions from others.

God I hope Leicester beat Man U this Sunday and United finish 5th. Would be the only positive of 2020
