Reports today suggest that Tottenham’s Dutch maestro Rafael Van der Vaart is set for a return to first team action in ten days after undergoing treatment in Holland.

The inspirational playmaker and Fantasy favourite, who was initially feared to be out for between four and six weeks, could make his shock return against Blackpool on December 19. He has been in Rotterdam seeing specialist Dick van Toorn and, after a positive response to treatment, Van der Vaart is apparently hopeful of an early comeback.

”He gave me three days of intensive treatment in Rotterdam. In about 10 days I hope to make my comeback. It wasn’t such a big tear. Initially I thought it would be four to six weeks (out).”

This will come as a blow to the hordes of Fantasy Managers who were anticipating a lengthy lay-off for the Dutchman. In the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game the 27-year-old had a net loss of 202,610 transfers last Gameweek and, on top of that, over 23,000 transfers out since the weekend. Long-term Van der Vaart owners who sold-up may have suffered a hit of up to £0.5 million. The postponement of the Blackpool vs United clash may well have exacerbated the loss of Van der Vaart, forcing the hand of many of his owners prior to Gameweek 16.

Despite the sales, Van der Vaart still has a high ownership with 19.6% of FPL Managers retaining his services. We can only await a more official update on his injury, but if the Blackpool fixture in Gameweek 19 looks a viable return date, we can surely expect his ownership to rise once more, as Fantasy Managers fetch back a player who has already collected 76 points this season.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

Ok here's the plan. Fernando can wait till the week after next. Next Gw is all about Bale violating Bosingwa or Ferrari. VdV oot, Bale in. No hits 8)

I was nearly sick on Saturday night when I clocked that Bale would be up against one of those two at the weekend...

Hopefully Carlo does something to negate him, like playing Ramires (snigger snigger) on the right hand side of our attacking three, and telling him to mark the shit out of Bale.

This week's got Torres written all over it for me.

I'll get fernando for his 3 home games in 4 stretch. Liverpool are still hopeless remember and Torres' legs have to get through a freezing cold night tonight. If Newcastle have some players back from injury they won't be a roll over after the WBA loss.

Assuming 'Arry would play him on a freezing pitch in blackpool just back from a niggling injury? I heard that the freezing conditions might last until january in which case blackpool have the month off at home. It'll be fixture carnage.

Alright… Gonna finally get rid of Elmo this week I think, unless Malouda is suspended of course.. Not sure what moves I’ll make yet.. Here’s my squad: 3.1m in bank

    Foster/Robinson
    Jags/Ridgewell/Toure/Jara/Elmo
    Nani/Malouda/Nasri/Adam/N’Zogbia
    Drogba/Elmander/Carroll

    Thoughts? Cheers!

I need a keeper asap. I've had to play Carson every week for a while which is driving me over the edge. I nearly smashed my phone against the wall when Newcastle scored yesterday. WBA are incapable of a clean sheet.

Anyway, now that rant is out of the way, who should I bring in?

Money isn't much of an issue. Hart and Robinson look the best bets on paper but I have Jones and Kolarov. Should I double up on either or look elsewhere?

I'm still pretty happy with my Gordon/Jaask combo. Realise Bolton cleanies are few and far between but with the up coming fixtures I antipate decent defensive returns.

Anyone want a laugh? Bookies favourites to replace Hughton (who wont be sacked, well he better not be anyway) at Newcastle
    http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/newcastle-specials/next-permanent-manager

What a load of shitters. Apart from the Almighty Shearer (shut up before you start), Lee Clark (good lad), Roberto Di Matteo (why would he leave WBA), Keegan (still the messiah despite evidence to the contrary), Ottmar Hitzfeld and Didier Deschamps (YEAH RIGHT) and good old Sparky.

I think the view that "Arry won't risk him against Blackpool away cos it shud be eazy 3 pts without him" Is pretty stupid..

First Van Der Vaart loves playing and if he deems himself fit enough he'll talk Harry into it.

Also to see Blackpool away as an easy 3 points is pretty stupid.

ALSO Spurs can't afford to treat any game lightly and will not be afforded the luxury of not playing arguably their best player if he's fit enough, coming back from injury or not..

i dont think that but i am getting rid because blackpool away may be off, he may aggrivate the injury again and they have 3 games in 7 days over xmas and i dont expect he'll start all 3, spurs have a good squad and r one of the teams that will rotate most over xmas
