Captain Sensible

Who are the best FPL captain options for Gameweek 6?

It feels like 2017/18 all over again when it comes to Fantasy Premier League captaincy decisions right now.

It was back in the good-old days where we were faced with a choice between Mohamed Salah (£12.3m) and Harry Kane (£10.8m) ahead of a new Gameweek – and yet here we are in 2020, with the two sides impressing themselves on the latest debate for the armband.

The Captain Sensible article is back once again to help you pick the right option for the armband, using key underlying statistics for player form and the defences of their upcoming opponents.

As this uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area, only those with a valid subscription can access it in full.

Captain Poll

Mohamed Salah (£12.3m) is leading this week’s Captain Poll as he is backed by half of our voters, specifically 48.5% The in-form Liverpool midfielder is facing Sheffield United in Gameweek 6, who are yet to win a Premier League game this season, with four defeats and one draw.

Meanwhile, nobody has recorded as many goal involvements in the opening five matches of the season as Harry Kane (£10.8m), who already has five goals, seven assists and 60 points.

The Tottenham striker also faces an out-of-form team on Monday, as Burnley are still looking for their first league victory of the season (three defeats, one draw).

Kane currently sits second in the Captain Poll, with nearly 20.0% of our users backing the Englishman.

Behind Kane, his counterpart Son Heung-min (£9.4m, 6.5% of votes), Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish (£7.2m, 5.0%) and Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling (£11.6m, 3.0% of votes) remain as the outside picks this week.

Once again, using some underlying data from the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area and combining the poll results, current form and analysis of the opposition, we are going to try to pick the best captain for Gameweek 6.

Agonising decision. I have money itb to do TAA and Brewster to Kane and Reguilón for a -4. Should I hold and do it next week for free In the hope that Trent gets points against SHU and Burnley continue to tighten up v Spurs? Can keep Brewster on the bench and play Podence instead. Any views appreciated. Ta.

    Steer, Lampety, Bissouma, Mitchell.

Re my team below, just weighing up best option for next transfer next GW - thinking defence needs upgrading.

Who would you bring in? Chilwell? Open to suggestions. (3.0M ITB)

    Martinez
    Saiss - Lamptey - Mitchell
    Salah - Son - Grealish - Foden
    Kane - Ings - DCL

    Steer / Justin - Taylor - Burke

    Good day lads.

Not commenting a lot here last couple of season but had been reading for a few years now..

Any of you thinking Ancelotti is playing mind games on JRod availability?

If yes, how many percentage of bluffing he's playing in if you're guessing?

I’m starting Rodríguez this GW, three days between the press conference and the game so he could still recover.

Sheffield United's ceiling for conceding seems to be max 2 goals, whereas I can see Spurs knocking a fair few past Burnley. Not great for a haul especially with Salah on the right, could be faulty logic though. Though I do like the home advantage despite the reduced benefit. Kane's on fire, his record is great, Burnley suffering from an injury crisis. Decisions, decisions...

        Soucek Brewster Dunne

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I would take a leap of faith and play Brewster in a 343, putting Mitchell on the bench.

Why? Fulham have bolstered their attack and I see it as likely that they will not be an easy match for CRY on craven cottage. There is also the rotation risk of Mitchell/PVA.

Judging from the pressers, Brewster is likely to start against liverpool - with liverpool missing Van Dijk, and after the horror show against AVL, I have a gut feeling Brewster may well get some attacking returns.

On the similar boat where I've played my freehit as well.

Honest opinion mane is a good pick, but a general argument is spending that money on a player you may not captain reduces the upside, and spending those funds on other positions will benefit more in the long run.

I'd hold this week then with two ft see if Rodriguez becomes available then look to get in Kane and downgrade mane simple to have that Salah Kane captaincy choice.

Who are people favouring out of Grealish and Barkley?

On paper Grealish looks the more attractive but Barkley is 1.2 mil cheaper and looks like he will get more shooting chances each game

I think Greal comfortably outscores him over the season though Barkley is decent option though. Who is on pens could be the decider. Good thing about going Greal is if after another 3 or 4 games it is clear that you backed the wrong horse, it's easy to upgrade down, not so easy the other way, I've gone Greal.
