Captain Sensible

Who are the best FPL captain options for Double Gameweek 19?

Fantasy Premier League managers are advised to target assets who play twice in the first Double Gameweek of the season when looking for their next captain.

With each of the current top four clubs, Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Leicester City, each playing twice during Double Gameweek 19, the most popular premium assets are leading the armband discussion.

As always, we have taken a look into the best options in great detail, using the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area to assess individual form and the state of their opponents’ defences.

CAPTAIN POLL

For the second week running, Manchester City’s maestro Kevin De Bruyne (£11.8m) leads the Fantasy Football Scout captain poll, this time with just over 37.0% of votes.

The Belgian shares the vast majority of votes with Mohamed Salah (£12.5m, 26.0%), who comes back into our consideration after missing out on a match in Blank Gameweek 18.

Bruno Fernandes (£11.3m, 7.0%), Jamie Vardy (£10.1m, 5.1%) and Tomas Soucek (£5.3m, 4%) complete this week’s top-five list.

In order to tackle this Double Gameweek captaincy debacle effectively, we will analyse Gameweek 19’s key teams and assets separately, as opposed to focusing on the key matches, as we usually do.

Hi all, I’m already on a -8, I have fabianski which is xomellety missed as being on yellow, news seems really uncertain as to weather he’ll be fit and moyes has said he’ll asses on the day.

Should I take a -12 and swap him out? If he’s doesn’t play at all then it’s a no brainier really as I’ll get 4 back just from a playing keeper, but -12 seems a lot,

Any ideas if he’ll play and if I should twist?

    Currrent:

    Johnstone-McCarthy
    TAA-Justin-Coufal-Dallas-Stones
    Son-Salah-Bruno-Soucek-Raphinha
    Kane-Bamford-Wood

    What's the best move?:

    A) Wood to Antonio (for free) - going without KdB
    B) Son+TAA to KdB+Targett (-4)
    C) Son+Kane to KdB+Antonio (-4)
    D) Son+TAA+Wood to KdB+Antonio+Targett (-8)

    -4:
    A) Taylor > Cancelo (442)
    B) Biss > Soucek (352)
    C) Adams > Antonio (343)

    -8 (Bamford benched):
    D) Taylor, Biss > Cancelo, Soucek (451)
    E) Taylor, Adams > Cancelo, Antonio (442)
    F) Biss, Adams > Soucek, Antonio (352)

    -12 + BB (12x 2 + 2x 1 + Forster):
    G) Taylor, Biss, Adams > Stones, Soucek, Antonio

Gosh I can't believe I'm considering the BB still...

    Johnstone Bamford Dallas Davis

This can't be a good BB right, surely? Davis might even manage to scrap some points this week if Villa are short on fit forwards.

      That could be massive

All it takes is Big Sam’s advice to finally have kicked in on the training ground for Johnstone to be an absolute superstar GK

      Bamford could easily hattrick

      As could Dallas

Davis could be the Wildcard hero we never expected

The more I look at it, the more it looks like possibly the best type of bench boost for this week

        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Yeah but it could also be...

        Johnstone 4 points
        Bamford 2 points
        Dallas 1 point
        Davis 1 point

        For a whopping 8.

Can be good if you've already used FH as it's hard to BB26 without it (needed for 29)

And another big DGW is unlikely

      1. Camzy
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        • 14 Years

I don't think it's hard to build a BB for 26. There's still a lot of weeks to prepare.

        1. jomikijiq
          • 9 Years
          3 years, 9 months ago

The hard part is that if you will load up on DGWers to BB you won't have a team in BGW29

so right now I think WC25 with 11 DGWers and 4 for BGW29 is the best with FH used

            • Fantasy Football Scout Member
            • 14 Years

The reason I decided to FH 18 instead of 29 is because there are 3 weeks between 26 and 29 for me to start transforming the team.

Also, if that's the case, I'd get 4 good SGW players in 26 to BB if I hedge 29 that's not even that much different to this week.

If Leeds had a double obviously BB would be more appealing but...

    7. Reeker
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Having two DGW keepers is for sure making it tempting and Davis is sure making it unappealing.

Bamford and Dallas are decent BB players. Johnstone is great and Davis is awful

      1. Camzy
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        • 14 Years

Davis is awful but he might even scrap a few appearance points. The COVID situation could see him even start if Watkins for instance is out. Ultimate wildcard. He has gotten some minutes so we know he's fit at the very least...

If Watkins can be confirmed out then Bench boost seems very attractive. FPL General has a good bit on it in his podcast on how nice it would be to get the bench boost out of the way so you don't have to put focus on your bench for your second wildcard

Personally I wouldn't unless you had a decent player to swap Davis too but there's nobody in that bracket

I am thinking something similar.I try to understand the possible fixtures in dgw26 along with my wc gw25 and in combination with blank gw29 and i am not sure i will have 3 cheap player(Dallas,Bamford,Raphinha) in dgw26 with such good fixture(Brighton at home) so i am thinking to also use the BB.

It does make sense. But I have a feeling a better opportunity will present itself. And now that I think about it, I don't actually like Lee - Bha as a match-up that much. I reckon Brighton could win.

      What you're asking is:

      Wood: 2 + 2 = 4 + any attacking returns
      Antonio: 2 + 2 -4 = 0 + any attacking returns

If you think Antonio will get at least 4 more points than Wood then it's obviously worth it.
