Who are the best FPL captain options for Gameweek 20?

The Gameweek 20 captaincy debate, if we can call it that, has only been about one Fantasy Premier League asset thus far: Bruno Fernandes (£11.3m).

His omission from Manchester United’s starting XI in an FA Cup win over Liverpool, which he still managed to get the winning goal in, has only made the clamour to captain him even stronger ahead of a plum fixture against Sheffield United.

Injuries and/or significant loss of goal-scoring form has hurt the usual challengers for the armband with Kevin De Bruyne (£11.9m) and Jamie Vardy (£10.1m) unavailable while Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) has blanked in five successive Premier League matches – all good news for Fernandes.

That said, does an injury to De Bruyne open up some differential options in the Manchester City side? Are there perhaps some outside picks up for grabs from the less popular teams? That’s what the Captain Sensible article is here for.

    Pretty Tough season so far although I am currently at 23,000. my captaincy choice all season has been a big let down rotating and missing a big haul soon after. I need to learn a bit of set and forget discipline!

    I will be going to into 20 with: Fabianski
    Dias - Cancello - Targett - Creswell - Holding
    Fernandes (C) - Grealish - Sterling - Son
    Bamford

    Subs. Guita, Rashford, Robinson, Mcgoldrik

    Looking at the upcoming fixtures for City and Villa (Also villa's games in hand) I'm hoping for a good couple of weeks from these 5 but who knows right! I will also be watching how Everton perform this week to see is Rodrigues finds form as the whole Cancello/Walker rotation worries me.

    Hello ... does anyone have any stats on historical overall success or otherwise of the Triple Captain chip in single v DGW usage ? considering TC this week for Bruno given that many will captain ..

      Nothing wrong with using a TC chip on a player with the perfect single gameweek fixture. Bruno will be highly captained this week so will be a good opportunity to make him act as a differential for you. However for me with so many options still with DGW to come I'd probably hold the chip to use then, even with Bruno's fixture this weekend.

        Yeah absolutely. I'm just concerned the same thing will happen to me as in GW19, I was a -8 from a BB and decided against it. I think the BB has to go on 26 and I don't want to find myself in the position where I'm negating it's impact with hits or wildcarding when I feel I don't need to. Having a WC past GW29 could be a powerful advantage because I think few will still have it by then. But you're right, hopefully we'll find out no later than 24.

          Its tough, I was planning BB in 19 because I had Meslier, MacCarthy etc already form quite a few game weeks out, then it all fell apart.

          I am now of the firm belief that you keep an eye of the future but play each week as it comes ... too may variables to do much else.

        No, I just think Wolves are out of form with Podence and Jimenez out and fixtures aren't great in the short-term.

            Yeah that's doable actually. Don't fancy Gundo personally but lots of people are getting him. Do you reckon Salah is worth the money with Liverpool's current form and mediocre fixtures?

              I am not sure either and have the same worries but I suspect a bounce back ... and Salah is due.

              Gundo may be a good 5th mid long term

      I own Justin and Cresswell - currently benching Justin, Everton coming back in to form so I'm not sure that the CS sticks, whereas Palace don't look like scoring a lot of goals.

      Feels like Leeds are guaranteed not to keep a CS whoever they play. Question for me would be, how probable do I think Dallas getting an attacking return is.

        It does... If leeds go off then its possible he gets something but there is the hope that if its tight he could get a cs so my thinking is there are 2 sinarios where he could get something and it is vs toon. Upside is huge if he gets cs and an attacking return.
        Does depend on your other options tho, for me its dallas v soucek v raphina.
        If it was dallas v robo the above is true for both making it a coin flip i guess.
