Andy Carroll could miss just one more Gameweek with the striker targeting a return to action against North East rivals Sunderland on January 16, according to Newcastle boss Alan Pardew.

Talking after today’s 1-0 away win at Wigan, the Toon boss admitted that he and the club’s medical staff remain in dark on the extent of Carroll’s thigh injury but offered this little scrap of reassurance from the player himself…

“He will definitely miss West Ham and I think he’ll definitely miss Stevenage (next Saturday), but talking to the boy, he thinks he is ready for Sunderland already.”

This could of course be hopeless optimism from Carroll, who will surely be desperate to make a return against the Black Cats. However, it’s all we’ve got to go on right now while we await results form his scans in London.

Carroll, who enjoyed a price rise to 6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League game going into Gameweek 21, has so far been sold by over 22,000 managers, a figure that will just continue to rise as we approach the introduction of the game-wide Wildcard in Gameweek 22.

It seems likely that we will learn more on the Carroll prognosis in the next 48 hours; if indeed the striker does make a return for Gameweek 23, he could suddenly become an effective differential having previously enjoyed a 54% FPL ownership.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Morning chaps,

Anyone considering Mr. Anderson? I think it was noted in some recent scout notes that he's getting a lot of pitchtime. I'm considering him as an alternative to bringing Adam in. For all his bonuses Adam hasn't been that prolific, so I'm weighing up whether Anderson can score more from STK tot BIR+bpl AVL wol than Adam can from BIR+LIV wba SUN+MUN WHM eve.

    Am I making sense?

I think you are. I would be worried about Sir Alex' eternal tinkering of his midfield 4/5 though. Besides, United have better players, no? Nani, Rafael, Vidic and Berbatov?

Think it depends on much game time Anderson gets. He doesn't play full 90 for most but Adam does. Risky one but I see Utd getting clean sheets and Anderson getting bonus points or assist.

Not sure whether captaining Adam is such a great idea. I bear the scars from Milnergate II from last season when Villa had two relatively easy games, were strong defensively and Milner was scoring goals as well as a bonus point darling. It went totally tits up.

I would go Nani or Drogba instead. But my recent scoring would suggest I don't have a clue what I'm talking about.

Aurelio played last game, so there's probably a bit of rotation on the cards.. and their away form is shocking

Ooooh, I've only 3 players for this DGW (and one is Konch) and I'll only have 5 for DGW24. My plan is to WC on GW27.

I'm trying to avoid hits as it has cost me dearly over the last while.

My master plan was to get a front 3 of Torres/ Bent/ Drogba and it worked lovely last week and I'm sticking (hopefully) with those 3 until WC.

My question is ; RMT for this week!

    Foster (hahnn)
    Konch/ Enrique/ Coleman (Kolorov/ PJones)
    Malouda/ VdV/ Adam/ Nasri (Ferguson)
    Torres(c)/ Drogba/ Bent
